Everything was just perfect -- walking distance to some gorgeous little beaches and fabulous breakfast. Nice, clean rooms and bathroom. Liz isn't kidding when she says that you choose the level of interaction. If you do choose to spend some time with her you'll discover a kind, generous host who's full of conversation about art, yoga, life and the universe. My friends and I had a fabulous time here and I can't wait to visit again some time.
We had a pleasant stay with Liz in Malua bay. The guest room had a large, comfy bed and we had access to our own shower and toilet. All were squeaky clean. Liz prepared us a nice strong coffee in the morning and homemade bread with all the fixins (sorry, but we didn't try the vegemite!) We were still a bit jetlagged, so we fell asleep shortly after our arrival at 7pm, and left the next morning around 8am. However we were able to take in the beautiful scenery that is Liz's backyard before our departure. A peaceful place to stay with a gracious host!
Liz is al welcoming person who will do everything to make you feel at home. Her morning coffee is the best! She even made us home made fresh bread!
Staying at Liz' place means sharing dining area and kitchen.
I had a lovely time in Malua Bay in Liz's house. She was extremely kind and generous- leaving coffee, fresh eggs and homemade bread for my breakfast. Her house is a very short walk from 3 beaches and Liz even offered her boggie board on loan. All in all this airbnb is extremely good value for money.
I had two very enjoyable days at Liz's place on the coast. She is a warm and welcoming person and made me feel very at home. Her house is cosy and had everything I needed. I had the good fortune to fit in a massage too which was great.
Arrived feeling stressed and tired... departed feeling relaxed and revived! I booked a massage with Liz and it was the best I have had in a longtime. Really enjoyed the healing energy of the back verandah where I ate my meals watching the ocean's changes. Overall a relaxed atmosphere and good company :)
Liz is a lovely hostess, we spent two good days at her homely house with a wow backyard. Thank you for your tips around exploring the area and baking us the fresh bread!
Liz is a very generous and caring person making you feel at home instantly. We made a last minute arrangement which was accepted within a few minutes. We were pleasantly surprised to get such a wonderful place directly at the sea. Liz provided a good breakfast and even made bread for us, not forgetting the good cups of coffee.
We can highly recommend this place and would be happy to be back again.
Liz’s house in Malua Bay is a pleasant place to stay that poses a few challenges for an AirBnB host: the two guest bedrooms open onto a common area consisting of kitchen and combined sitting/dining area. The room with a bunk bed adjoins the bathroom but not the toilet, which is nearer the host’s part of the house. Another room with two single beds is separated from both the bathroom and toilet by this common area. There is an outbuilding with television, small fridge and couch, which makes a handy private lounging area for guests.
The back porch was a great place to relax with a cold one, with its unspoilt views to the south-east over ocean and rocky headlands. We found the uninsulated TV room a bit hot during the hot, windy night of our stay in January but we enjoyed watching a DVD from the collection. My linen was clean, bed was firm and my friends who used the other room reported no problems. There was no top sheet, which might be preferable to the doona on hot nights. I found light blockage at night in the front bedroom very good using the installed vertical blinds, and the area was quiet both day and night. Bathroom and toilet were spotlessly clean.
Preparations for breakfast were a bit tricky due to lack of space on the communal dining table, and in the shared living area generally. The fridge and freezer were ‘maxed out’ during our stay, a slight problem for people who like to bring their own food and drink. For these reasons I think this house would best suit 1-2 guests per stay. Nevertheless Liz made the stay pleasant and friendly for three adults as I believe she will for any guests who use her listing. She made coffees for us on her very good espresso machine and offered beer from the bar fridge. Hand-made muesli, organic bread and organic honey were among numerous breakfast makings on offer. One of my friends used Liz’s therapeutic massage service and (with the authority of long experience) rates her skills highly. The house, though showing its age and not designed for hosting, is a comfortable and peaceful place to stay, and would be convenient for anyone who is exploring the south coast of NSW.
Matthew I am so glad you and your travelling companions enjoyed your stay here in Malua Bay!
This is a well loved, family home that is incredibly good value for the price paid at this time of year with plenty of space for everyone. Airb&b is about affordable accommodation in shared spaces rather than exclusive areas you may get in purpose built b&b's or hotels. Agreed though, the kitchen is small but workable, and there are two fridges that can be utilised.
I will point out that all my beds have topsheets, personally I cant stand doona only situations, and your bed on that night did have both bottom and top sheet. Thankyou for taking them off for me at the end of your stay.
There are many kind words above Matthew and I am grateful for your mostly positive review.
Lovely lady and host - in a super location - and so close to the beach! Highly recommend
