This newly renovated farmhouse sits nestled between a working dairy farm and a homestead hobby farm. The front porch view includes pastures, fields and nearby Collins Mountain. This well kept rental is perfect for those looking for a quiet getaway or a unique stay near the towns of Saxapahaw (9 miles away) and Chapel Hill/Carrboro (12 miles away). We welcome guests with diverse backgrounds.

The space
The house has been rated exceptionally clean by guests. We thoroughly clean and sanitize the space between guests and leave a 72 hour window between stays to allow for deep cleaning and airing out of the space. Cleanliness has always been important for our business, and we are now taking additional precautions with sanitation due to Covid-19 for your safety.

This quiet retreat is great for writers, artists and nature lovers. Unplug and unwind. Enjoy the sunrise while drinking your coffee on the front porch each morning. Walk barefoot in the large front yard while stargazing or chasing fireflies at night.

This property is perfect for families or 1-2 couples. We can provide an air mattress and linens for an additional charge if needed. We have a charcoal grill for your cookouts. We try to think of everything you will need for a relaxing and easy stay.

Please note that we do not host weddings, rehearsal dinners or engagement/ elopement parties. Minors may not stay without the adult/s responsible for the care of the home.

Where you’ll be

Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States

Our road is popular for bike riders who enjoy the vast country scenery. Located near Haw River access points for kayaking or fishing. Short drive to nearby vibrant communities in Saxapahaw and Carrboro for activities, breweries and farm to table restaurants. Catch a show at the Haw River Ballroom after grabbing dinner at The Eddy Pub or the Saxapahaw General Store followed by craft beer at Haw River Farmhouse Ales. Book a kayak or stand up paddle board class with Haw River Canoe & Kayak Co. The closest Haw River access point is only 3 miles from the house.

We are also a short drive from the Honeysuckle Teahouse and Maple View Ice Cream. Seasonally, we can recommend local farms for picking blueberries or strawberries as well as year round farmers markets.

Neighbors look out for each other out here and will probably give you a friendly wave.

The house is in close proximity to several wedding venues, making it popular for guest accommodations: The Barn of Chapel Hill, The Eco-Institute, Barn of Valhalla, Chapel Hill Carriage House, Merry Hill Farm, The Parlour and the Rigmor House.

We are also 10 miles from Shakori Hills for festival and concertgoers.

I manage the homestead at Happy Chick Farm along with my partner, Amy. We keep goats, chickens, turkeys and a small garden. We incubate and raise chicks and turkeys for neighbors throughout the state. We also offer classes on chicken keeping and other homesteading skills. Check out our "Flock and Coop Tour" Airbnb Experience.
I enjoy hosting guests who have an interest in farms and homesteading, or who just need to find a quiet place outside of the city. It's a pleasure to share this beautiful spot for people seeking a retreat.

The Homestead is just through the woods to our house, so we are available for help or questions as needed. We are usually around and keep an eye on what's happening on the farm.
