Robert, the caretaker, lives upstairs and manages the rental. He will greet you and be on hand to answer questions, suggest restaurants, provide directions and even whip up a nice home cooked meal.
Great neighborhood full of restaurants, shops,
entertainment and a cool, très Brooklyn vibe.
Almost every major NYC subway is located a short walk away. Lines include 2, 3, 4, 5, A, B, C, D, F, G, N, Q, R. You'll be in Manhattan in 10 or less minutes via most lines.
We (mam, dad and our 3 grown up kids) spent an entire week at Roberts place and we can only confirm everything which has been said in the other reviews. The appartment is clean and huge. The sofa in the second bedroom has been replaced by a queen size bed and there is also a queen size bed in "Petes place", which is the annexe room. The neighbourhood is very nice. I especially loved Dean street which is around the corner of the appartment. It feels like you're playing in an American movie. The neighbourhood is also very calm so you can sleep fantastic at night. It is also only a 10 minutes walk to the Barclays center, home stadium of the Brooklyn Nets. We went to see a game and we loved it. Brooklyn bridge is a 20 minutes walk but definitely worth it ! Metro station Hoyt is a 5 minutes walk and brings you into Manhattan in 20-30 minutes. If you get out at the next stop (Jay station) you can buy last minute tickets for broadway at half price and with practically no queue !! (TKTS office). It was great to return to the appartment in the evening after a long day strolling in Manhattan. Felt like coming home. Thank you Robert for the great welcome and for keeping our luggage the last day so that we could use our time at the maximum.
The only negative point I can think of is that days go by too fast !!

Robert svarade snabbt på min förfrågan om att få hyra lägenheten. Han var mycket serviceminded, tillmötesgående och hjälpsam.
Both the host and the accommodations surpassed our expectations. The duplex is spacious and beautifully appointed, and Robert was a wonderful host - very helpful and friendly. The neighborhood is one of Brooklyn's best. In short we loved our stay and could not have asked for more.
This was our first time using airbnb and our first trip to Brooklyn, and it won't be the last! The home is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The house is in a nice area, close to public transportation, shopping and restaurants. The rooms are large, comfortable and well furnished. The carriage house is a nice feature, and the courtyard would be great in warmer weather. Robert was a great host. He was there to meet us when we arrived and gave us maps and information about the area, including a list of some of the many restaurants in Brooklyn. All those we tried were excellent! He was very responsive and there when we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will stay there again.
Robert is outstanding in all respects. Personable, attentive, responsive, and all with a sense of humor. He is so helpful in so many ways and he goes out of his way to welcome us and make us feel at home. This is our second stay and we will definitely come back again.
This was my first Airbnb experience and it was super. The apartment was spotless, spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable, with every amenity you might want. Robert, the friendly host, who lives upstairs, set out a bottle of wine, freshly ground coffee, fruit, etc. to start us off with a big welcome. He was easily reachable and helpful throughout our stay when we had questions; everything has been arranged to make a stay enjoyable. Things are just as described. The location is a few blocks from just about every important subway line to Manhattan, so you’re no more than a half hour from most places you’d want to visit there, and the Brooklyn neighborhood itself is great, with lots of shops, cafés, restaurants, etc. worth checking out. This is a great find for visitors to NYC and I hope to stay there again on a future trip.
We were greeted by our host, Robert and everything was exactly as expected. We were given a brief tour of the space, covered all the amenities, and even given a restaurant guide and local map. Robert was warm and welcoming.
Hi, I'm the building's caretaker and live and work upstairs.
On the roof I grow tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, herbs,
corn, lettuce and beans, which feed me and my fiance
and all the local squirrels for all but the dark months.
My passions are cooking, horticulture, music, travel and design.
I'm here if you need me and more than happy to point you to all the great music venues and culinary hotspots in the hood and beyond.
