Puerto Viejo is a great place to come and experience another way of living and enjoying life. With 5 different beaches within biking distance, you can rent a bike and take a surf lesson, or just relax on the friendly beaches here in Puerto Viejo. Walking down the street, you can drink fresh coconut water straight from the tree, eat some local, fresh baked banana bread or yucca pudding, and buy some hand-crafted souvenirs made from coconuts, cacao shells, sea shells, one of the many brightly-colored seeds found locally, and other different local fabrics. You can finish the day watching some live music near the beach or watching a futbol game in a local bar. You can really live the Pura Vida.
Puerto Viejo is walking, bike, and car friendly. It is a small enough town that you won't need a car to get around, but if you do have one there are spaces to park near the cabinas. There are also buses to take you to Limon, Cahuita, Bribri, Playa Chiquita, Punta Uva, Manzanillo, and Sixaola.
From San Jose, you will need to take a taxi to the bus stop San Carlos, and from there you can take the bus directly to Puerto Viejo De Limon, with a stop in Limon.
If you prefer, we can also help you arrange a private or shared shuttle from the airport or your hotel in San Jose directly to our cabinas here in Puerto Viejo.
Once you arrive in Puerto Viejo, you can use this map to help you get around. (website hidden)

My name is Veronica . I am married and have five kids who are now grown up. We grew up in a little town at the Caribbean Coast in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. My descendants and family are Jamaican. We are very proud of our culture.
I grew up in a Cristian family were I learned about natural Healing and that we need to take care of our mind, body, soul and we need to find the balance between the three of them.
My grandparents and parents were naturalist, it means that they always worked with plants and herbs. When somebody is sick or has an allergy, they cure them with their knowledge of the plants, trees and herbs. They passed it on to us and my husband and I continue to pass our home remedies (: like fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables) to our children and to other people who wants to change their lives in a healthy way.
All these are my inspiration along with the bible and nature that show me that my body is the temple of the holy spirit were God abides.
The son , the water, the air, exercise, making time and the trust of God are the law of nature.
My husband and I still lives in this small town in Puerto Viejo where everybody knows us and where we do community serves for other people.
We offer short and long term accommodations. We have 3 family-size cabinas, and 3 private rooms in our house. The cabinas all have private bathrooms and a shared kitchen, and the rooms in the house are with shared bathroom, kitchen, and living room.
