About This Listing
Cozy 2BD/1BA home, just blocks from downtown,
Town&Country village and Stanford.
Remodeled, a large open kitchen, a large backyard space with stone patios, hot tub, and much car space. Super-convenient, comfortable and charming Palo Alto living.
This is an entire house. Though small it is very comfortable. It is best for 1-2 people; it can accommodate more though there is an extra charge. The kitchen is a favored area, with windows looking out southwest over the large front yard of the house next door (which belonged to my grandparents), rather than the house itself.
Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are just a few blocks away, with downtown Palo Alto and the Stanford campus only a few minutes further.
Interaction with Guests
I am retired and an avid traveller, hiker, camper, and photographer - so the times it is rented I am away. I am often here to meet the guest, but otherwise the key will be left with a neighbor - or arranged otherwise with the guest.
High Street is just on the edge of the wonderful old houses and tree-lined streets of Professorville. It is great for just walking around, in addition to the convenience of both downtown and Stanford being a short distance away.
Other Things to Note
I would be interested in longer term rentals, of up to three or four months. I have done this before through arrangements with Stanford visiting scholars.
Dave was very welcoming. The house was nice and clean and very conveniently located. Everything we needed was there, and I recommend the home unreservedly.
Everything was accurate per the listing - very pleased with the experience and would stay there on next trip to palo alto
We had a wonderful stay at this house.
Dave was there when we arrived. He showed us around and had a great bottle of wine for us.
The house is on a quiet street and has a well equipped kitchen, living room entertainment center and everything you might need for a home away from home. The wifi worked great as well.
He has a great selection of books and movies as well.
Very convenient to downtown Palo Alto.
We loved our stay here and would definitely highly recommend it.
David was at the house when we arrived. He provided a detailed tour of the place, including appliance operations and where everything is stored. He offered use of food items and a bottle of wine. It is in a great location - walking distance to University Ave and the Town & Country shopping center. We enjoyed our four day stay very much and will definitely check availability for future visits.
We had a really nice stay at Dave's place. The location can't be beat - less than 10 mins by foot to Caltrain and an easy walk to University Ave for food, good shopping and yoga classes. Dave was very easy to work with and we look forward to staying there again.
We are a family of 3 who came to Palo Alto for 2 weeks. Since I was busy at Stanford, it was important for us to stay in a proper home rather than a hotel, and Dave’s house was just perfect for our needs.
After the first night we felt totally at home! The mixture of wooden furniture and rustic tapestry gives the house a special warm feeling. The living room is very comfortable, with plenty of sitting space and a beautiful desk; the huge TV screen with cable and apple TV is a big plus. The kitchen is luminous and very well-equipped. The main bedroom is spacious, and has plenty of storage space. The study is really good, our daughter enjoyed the double bed and the big desk. The sun room is a lovely area to relax, the same as the garden, where we sat down for coffee several times. The washing and drying machines in the basement made our lives really easy.
Dave is a very generous host, he really made us feel welcome. He bought coffee especially for us and taught me how to make espresso! We found in his home everything we needed: from shampoo and extra towels to laundry powder (we are sorry, though, that we forgot to buy olive oil to replace the bottle we finished!). We found a very clean house, and the beds ready for us. On the first day there was a minor electric problem, Dave took care of it really promptly.
The house is in a great and quiet neighborhood, at walking distance from shopping areas and the Stanford shuttle.
This was our first experience with Airbnb, and it was wonderful!
The location was great! David was very helpful and took the time to show my colleague around the house.
I was very impressed with the wide array of kitchen gadgets including items for tea & coffee. Usually I am boiling water in a pot or the microwave, but David provided a electric kettle!
It is about a 20 minute walk to the Quad from the house through some lovely shaded paths. Much nicer at the end of the day than walking straight down Palm Drive.
About the Host, David
I was raised for the most part in Palo Alto so it is my hometown. I am retired now, near the place I grew up in, doing much the same thing I did in the early days - riding my bike around town and in the Stanford hills. I worked as an earth scientist in oil exploration during my career, and lived in numerous places around the world. I feel very fortunate to have come back to this beautiful place in retirement.
