The space

Near Hollywood hot spots, but nestled in quiet neighborhood. Used for many film locations. 106 year old Classic Craftsman Bungalow with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, updated in 2004. Wood burning fireplace in living room. Formal Dining room. Hardwood floors throughout. Gourmet cooks kitchen, granite counter tops, Viking range and dual ovens. Bosch dishwasher. Built-in microwave oven. High ceilings with skylights. Central heat and air conditioning. One mile from Kodak Theater, Pantages Theater. Five minute drive to Universal Studios. Forty minute drive to Disneyland or the Beach. Parking.

Front of house, Front and side yards, Driveway. Full House. Places that are off limits are: Garage, Cellar, or back yard.

It's in a prime Hollywood neighborhood. Close to many attractions.

Check in was later than expected. I'm used to just checking in and having the host leave right after we go over everything. Mark was very nice and gave us our space during our stay so it really wasn't a big deal. The place had parking which is very helpful and a great location!

Check in is usually at 4:00 pm. Sam arrived early and was hoping to check in earlier, but the previous guests unexpectedly stayed well past their checkout time, so I had to hire an extra cleaner to have everything ready in time. At the same time, I was having the hot water heater replaced during that same time window between guests. In the end, Sam checked in at about 4:10, and all was well. It's important to me that my guests enter a clean house with hot water. Sam was a great guest.

This is the first/only time I've ever cancelled a reservation in over 4 years on Airbnb. It was due to circumstances beyond my control, well in advance of my guest's arrival date (35 days). The guest was very kind and understanding, and was able to re-book within hours of this cancellation. A full refund was available to the guest immediately (if she chose not to use it on another booking). As a result, I was not penalized in any consequential way by Airbnb as a result of this cancellation. Future guests should not be concerned if considering to book with my property, as this is a remarkably rare occurrence. All the positive reviews can attest to that. No harm, no foul.

Mark made it possible for us to book the room only one day in advance, so this helped us a lot, as we needed a place to stay for the last two days of our vacation. The house is nicely located within walking distance to the Hollywood Blvd and has a good quality for a very reasonable price. I can totally recommend staying here when visiting LA.

Mark met us at the house and showed us around to make sure we were comfortable. We appreciated the age and charm of the house (over 100 years old!) as well as the beautiful and eclectic art throughout. Our only issues with the house were minor uncleanliness (dusty spots in corners) and plumbing in the master bathroom. The master bath has a claw footed tub with plumbing for a shower, but the knob for directing to water to the shower head was not present. So, the choices were bath or use the other shower. Also, the toilet in the master bath tends to run so it needed a bit of special attention (especially because we are in a drought and quite water conscious.) The location is wonderful and the price is great. The kitchen is super-duper, just wished we had time to cook in it!

I'm happy that Vickie's overall experience was good. If minor dust in the corner of a room is all the criticism there is, I'm happy to take care of it with a quick wipe. As far as the plumbing in the front bedroom goes, a simple tap on the toilet handle will stop the water filling the toilet. That happens sometimes, but considering the drought, I thought that would be something I would be notified of sooner. I'm very aware of the seriousness of the drought, which is why I've also had to stop watering the front lawn. Most of my guests understand that. That is also why it is only possible to shower in the large claw-foot tub. All the issues have been addressed. About the Airbnb reviews system: The star ratings are an average of the time I've listed with Airbnb, so I have no idea if the star rating is from a stay four years ago, or from yesterday. Airbnb has a policy to not divulge individual star-rating feedback to the owner, which makes responding to any issues virtually impossible and anything but transparent.

The host was congenial ... the location was just what we wanted...the house met our (URL HIDDEN) added benefit was off street parking
