Welcome to beautiful Waihi Beach, at the base of the world famous Coromandel Pennisula. One block from the beach, a full service cafe/restaurant on the waterfront 50 metres from the doorstep. Towels, bedding, kitchen gear provided. Private garden setting, bush walks, public tennis courts. A 3rd generation family home.
The house is situated in a central location, with the village shops just a 5 minute walk in one direction, and the surf club in the other. The beach is a 2 minute walk from the house. The house is a renovated authentic New Zealand family beach house built in 1952.
Guests will have access to the entire downstairs area of the house, including a large bedroom with a queen size bed, and single bed. There is also a double bed in the living area that folds out to sleeps two. The kitchen is fully outfitted with all cutlery, plates, pots and pans, etc. There are laundry facilities and a full shower and bath. There is a private, full garden section in both the front and back yards, landscaped with tropical plants.
Currently the weekends and school holidays are blocked out as we are usually there, but if a guest requested a particular set of dates, we could negotiate to make it available for them. Just message us and make your request! Also, if we are there, and the large downstairs bedroom is free, we can possibly accommodate guests at a reduced rate of $100.00 per night.
It is our family beach house, so it is expected that guests will treat it appropriately and respect our personal items. The upstairs area will be locked and not available to guests. The house is not "child-proofed" and it is assumed any small children will be closely supervised while on the property.
Interaction with Guests
We are not in residence while guests are in the house, but neighbours will be available to help with questions and settling in.
Waihi Beach is a lovely village with an iconic traditional Kiwi feeling. It has all the amenities you will need from a grocery store, gourmet butchery and delis, bakeries, hairdresser, great fashion retail shops, cafes, and a country pub, fishing club with restaurants, and much more! The village is a 10 minute walk from the house. There are many local golf courses nearby, as well as excellent surf and fishing spots. Waihi town is a 15 minute drive away, a historic gold mining town, full of great shops and restaurants, and the Coromandel towns of Whangamata and Hahei or Hot Water Beach, an easy day trip away.
There is an Intercity bus line with daily bookings available at Seaforth Road. There is a light aircraft aerodrome, if you have your own plane!
Other Things to Note
There is a minimum two night stay, and a cleaning fee of $125.00 will apply, which includes laundry of sheets and towels, vacuuming and mopping, and bathroom cleaning. It is expected the kitchen will be left as found.
There are permanent residents all around the area, and it is expected that there will not be excess noise to disturb them. The house and garden should be left as it is found, and no damage incurred to either. No pets please. Absolutely no smoking while on the property.
There is a shared driveway to a rear property which cannot be blocked at any time, but lots of parking is available on the street and verge.
Mark and I love sharing our piece of paradise with travellers, and love travelling ourselves. We love the outdoors and nature, and know you will find Waihi Beach the perfect place if you do too!
