About this listing
I am offering a bedroom in a splendid, beautifully decorated comfy house right at the heart of the city, Cihangir, aka; the fanciest neighbourhood in Istanbul. It's surrounded by boutique shops and nice cafes, and right on top of the greatest park in Istanbul!
Its a really large house with three bedrooms, a living room as well as two balconies. You will be mostly sharing this space with me and my boyfriend Ümit, who is originally from Istanbul and a connoisseur city&country. We occasionally have guests, family or friends staying overnight in the other bedroom yet its rare that there are more than 4 people in our home.
Your bedroom has a magnificent natural sponge, queen size bed, and is decorated with original artwork from all around the world and antique furniture. The apartment has an internal security alarm system.
Living room has a giant HD-TV and a home theater system and many comfortable couches. There is a great collection of DVD's, a giant library all in English, including almost all the guidebooks thats ever been written about the city.
In the dining room there is big antique table that can take up to 12 people. You can try your turkish cooking skills in the kitchen and then enjoy a candle-lit dinner.
Blankets, towels, bedsheets, toilet paper, Wi-Fi are of course available.
Interaction with Guests
I have a regular working schedule which means I will not be in the house in the mornings. However, I will be happy to share tips with you while enjoying a coffee or a beer in the balcony in the afternoons. Ümit has a more flexible schedule so he can help you with any problems that might occur. He surprises me quite often with huge turkish breakfasts which I would love to share with more people. :)
Cihangir is the most active&alive residential area in Istanbul. Its situated north of the historical peninsula, a couple of hundred meters from the center of Istanbul(Taksim) and the sea(Boshporus). There are hundreds of boutique shops, cafes(vegan-vegetarian), bars that can cater to all sorts of needs. Everything you want to see in Istanbul is either just around the corner or a couple of minutes walk away which is a rare treat in a city of this size. Cihangir is 7/24 alive unlike historical peninsula which has almost no activity after sunset.
Here are some information;
Istanbul Modern is 4 minues by walking.
Museum of Innocence: 4 Minutes
Taksim Square: 10 minutes
Istiklal Avenue: 5 Min
Historical Peninsula(Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Istanbul Archeological Museum, Gulhane park, ): 15 min
Tram, Metro, Ferry, Public Bus, Taxi... You name it, they are all within a couple of minutes walking from the house. I also have extra public transportation cards, that i can lend to you.
Other Things to Note
Please note that The Airbnb Vertified photos have been taken more than a year ago. I have nasty habit of changing the place of things almost every week yet our house has the same spirit, we promise.
