Angie and I are both retired military. Our family got to sample lodging across the U.S. & in several countries. When we started the Acorn Cottage we wanted to provide travelers with something more like a home instead of a furnished box. In other words, somewhere that WE’D want to stay!

My husband and I recently spent a week in St Pete's. It was our first stay in the city and we chose Acorn Cottage because it was centrally located between beaches and downtown. Although 5th Ave N is a very busy street, we didn't find the traffic sounds a problem. The price was right and the apartment met our needs: we had off street parking, WiFi, a well supplied kitchen with lots of extras in the fridge, washer/ dryer on premises and Angie and Rick....who were very welcoming hosts.
Rick and Angie were very welcoming and we had a great stay at Acorn Cottage. It was very comfortable for us with lots of nice touches like things for breakfast in the refrigerator. My son (a man with special needs) manged the stairs with no problem - the railings and lighting were very helpful.
I enjoyed visiting with Angie in her studio and admired her wonderful work!
The Acorn Cottage is very comfortable and quiet. A full kitchen adds to the convenience, and the neighborhood is very centrally located, close to downtown and the expressway. Rick and Angie are warm and welcoming hosts. I recommend this place!
Rick waited for us to give us the keys and a tour of the apartment although we were late being held up at the airport car rental agency.
He made us feel welcome and had made available free breakfast items.
The apartment was as it is described in the listing.
In the morning the wifi was not working properly and since I had to work throughout our stay there, I brought this to Angie's attention. She tried to help me but it did not work. She contacted the local cable provider and by the next day got a new internet connection put in along with a fast wifi. Her speed to take care of the issue was amazing.
Throughout our stay both Rick and Angie were a constant help to guide us about the city and were a pleasure to chat.
Angie helped us figure out the laundry facility on the premises.
This was our first bnb experience and we were a little concerned however, Rick and Angie made very smooth and enjoyable.
They are both down to earth, courteous and helpful veterans who have travelled a lot during their service days and understand the issues of traveling people.
We have nothing but good things to say about them and wish them all the success in their ventures.
The Acorn cottage is like a little cottage oasis. The cottage is nicely decorated and stocked with all kinds of goodies that made our late night arrival so much more relaxing. Rick and Angie both greeted us and were pleasant and accommodating to questions, local recommendations, and conversation. The cottage is roomy, comfy, and who doesn't like fresh eggs? The ac worked great on those super warm days that Seattleites just aren't used to! I would definitely stay again, and most likely will, when visiting St. Pete again. The location was perfect for what we needed-access to Eckerd College and shopping.
The acorn cottage was a great place for me and my lady friend to experience our vacation. The hosts Rick and Angie gave great insight to the local life and came with a little pamphlet that explained all local areas. I would refer any of my friends or family to the acorn cottage.
I was traveling to Florida with a friend who needed to spend some time with his father who had been recently been hospitalized. We were in search of some last minute accommodations, and stumbled upon Rick and Angie's place. Angie responded to my inquiry in minutes. And was a gracious host from the get-go. The accommodations were everything we could have hoped for. Angie went above and beyond to ensure that there were fresh eggs from her chickens, and other breakfast foods in the fridge. But the real magic was getting to know Angie and Rick. They are what it is all about. They are the reason we all use AirBnB. Please take my word for it, because I cannot write enough about how splendid these individuals are. Thank you Angie for your hospitality, your conversation, and showing me your art and talent. Rick, welcome back, and cheers to you both!

We were both career USAF and are now self-employed and semi-retired. Our daughter is active duty US Army. Angie lived less than a mile from here during high school and college before she entered the USAF. She knows the area very well and gives great directions!. She does fabric art, slipcovers for furniture, screen printing and other activities that are enjoyable and sometimes profitable. I am one of many independent consultants who work from home for a firm that deals with internet trends and marketing. I also do some woodworking and crafting and sell some of it on the internet. That's my enjoyable and sometimes profitable contribution to the budget.
We both have a variety of interests and there is normally one or more on-going projects around our house. It's normal to see us covered with things like thread, sawdust or paint. After the USAF we both did some work in the Home Décor industry as custom fabricators, so we have some interesting skill sets."
