The Space

The house is a 3000 square foot single level home with a master suite and 2 additional bedrooms with a shared bath. The living room in the front of the house has a 180 degree view of the vineyard and valley below. It sits above a 4 acre vineyard that annually produces 250 cases of premium Pinot noir wine. Across the valley is a 300 acre Kendall Jackson vineyard and two other vineyards are adjacent. With a Bocce Ball court, a semi enclosed courtyard with fireplace and a granite table that seats up to 12 persons, the house is great for entertaining. Food and Wine Magazine did their "Italian Lunch in a Sonoma Vineyard" article with chef Michael Chiarello and winemaker, Jamey Whetstone who produces wine from my grapes.

Guest Access

There are lawn chairs and a picnic table with umbrella. Enjoy an afternoon Bocce Ball game with a glass of wine or relax with a good book in the lower courtyard.

Interaction with Guests

I live on the property and will be glad to help with wine tasting, local restaurants, even arranging gourmet meals to be prepared in the courtyard. Paella is a specialty of Gerard Novitsky who beat Bobby Flay in his Smack Down television show.

The Neighborhood

The Estate is located in the heart of Sonoma County's famed wine country and within 45 minutes of over 100 wineries. Maps of wineries are provided. The Pacific Ocean is a 30 minute drive through Bodega, where Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds" was filmed. Whale watching is popular on the bluffs at Bodega Bay. Armstrong Woods has wonderful giant Sequoia Redwood trees less than an hour's drive away. And the beautiful Russian River provides canoeing and fishing. Fine dining is available in Sebastopol, Santa Rosa (12 miles away) or Healdsburg (45 minutes away).

Getting around

If you are arriving by air, the closest airports are San Francisco International, Oakland International and Santa Rosa Regional. Your will need a car as there is no public transportation to the vineyard. A map and driving instructions will be provided when your reservation is confirmed.

Other Things to Note

WEDDINGS: My daughter's wedding was held at the vineyard. The views truly are spectacular. Guests numbered about 100. We erected a 30'x60' tent on the driveway for seating. After the ceremony, the chairs were replaced by dinner tables while guests enjoyed cocktails on the lawn. Later, dancing with a DJ in the barn on a wooden floor laid for that purpose. If you are planning a wedding, please inquire about options and additional charges for the venue and other items (tent, catering, etc.) that can be provided for an additional cost.

The property is fenced and gated. The gate code will be provided a few days before your arrival. Keys to the house will be available when you arrive. There are large, flat screen, High Def TV's in the Family Room and the Master Bedroom connected via DirecTV satellite. A Propane 3-burner grill is available in the courtyard and two patio heaters, together with the outdoor wood burning fireplace, make a comfortable place to chat over a glass of wine in the evening.

  • Ken's Tuscan Vineyard Estate in Sebastopol was really wonderful. Ken was very accommodating and helpful leading up to and during our stay. When we pulled up, Ken was there with his adorable little dog to show us around the house and grounds. Ken was in fact very patient with us when we called him a couple of times over our weekend stay with questions. The pictures on the profile give you some idea, but cannot capture how beautiful it is to spend time in this landscape. There is really something special about this place. From the bocce ball court, to the meyer lemon tree to the fireplace and seating on the outdoor patio, to the equipped kitchen, it was really a perfect, cozy place to enjoy meals and spend time with a group of our family and friends visiting from overseas and out of state. Some bonuses for us were the owl, hawk, and swallows who came by to say hello during our stay. I would highly recommend staying here. We already want to go back!

  • Ken was a wonderful host - helpful in getting us installed and answering questions, but never intrusive. The estate is beautiful, on top of a hill overlooking Ken's vineyard, with great views from both in and outdoors. There's a lovely outdoor dining area where we had two of our meals.

The estate is centrally located, a good base from which to explore Sonoma. We had a lovely long weekend, and would definitely go back.

  • A relaxing stay in a most beautiful scene! Ken's home is stunning yet comfortable. Each day we found ourselves taking time to just sit overlooking his vineyard and listening to the sounds of nature. We cooked family meals, drank wine, played bocce ball & listened to our favorite music. We took adventure days to Bodega Bay, Armstrong Woods, & the Russian River. Several mornings, I took runs through the neighborhood below & came upon horses, sheep, bees, turkeys, goats & other local wildlife. One evening, my husband cooked a lovely meal on the grill with lots of fresh local produce & Ken delighted us with a couple bottles of wine made from the grapes of his vineyard along with his homemade limoncello. We appreciated his generosity and friendly conversation. The Tuscan Vineyard Estate in Sonoma is absolutely enchanting and peaceful. Having enjoyed the Italian countryside before, we felt as if we were there again. Ken's home is truly an escape from the fast-paced hustle & bustle of everyday life that we tend to find ourselves in at home in Birmingham. For that, we are so thankful! We hope to return next year.

  • What a great spot! Ken's house is spacious and comfortable, and a great location on top of a hill, looking out over a gorgeous valley. Bocce and BBQ in the night- so relaxing.
