About This Listing
This Estate, the site of "Food & Wine" magazines "Italian Lunch in a Sonoma Vineyard" sits atop a rolling hill minutes from Sebastopol, Redwood forests and the Pacific ocean. Relax around the outdoor fireplace, play bocce ball and visit the over 100 local wineries. Post card views from every room.
The house is a 3000 square foot single level home with a master suite and 2 additional bedrooms with a shared bath. The living room in the front of the house has a 180 degree view of the vineyard and valley below. It sits above a 4 acre vineyard that annually produces 250 cases of premium Pinot noir wine. Across the valley is a 300 acre Kendall Jackson vineyard and two other vineyards are adjacent. With a Bocce Ball court, a semi enclosed courtyard with fireplace and a granite table that seats up to 12 persons, the house is great for entertaining. Food and Wine Magazine did their "Italian Lunch in a Sonoma Vineyard" article with chef Michael Chiarello and winemaker, Jamey Whetstone who produces wine from the vineyard's grapes.
There are lawn chairs and a picnic table with umbrella. Enjoy an afternoon Bocce Ball game with a glass of wine or relax with a good book in the lower courtyard.
Interaction with Guests
I live on the property and will be glad to help with wine tasting, local restaurants, even arranging gourmet meals to be prepared in the courtyard. Paella is a specialty of Gerard Nebesky who beat Bobby Flay in his Smack Down television show.
The Estate is located in the heart of Sonoma County's famed wine country and within 45 minutes of over 100 wineries. Maps of wineries are provided. The Pacific Ocean is a 30 minute drive through Bodega, where Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds" was filmed. Whale watching is popular on the bluffs at Bodega Bay. Armstrong Woods has wonderful giant Sequoia Redwood trees less than an hour's drive away. And the beautiful Russian River provides canoeing and fishing. Fine dining is available in Sebastopol, Santa Rosa (12 miles away) or Healdsburg (45 minutes away).
If you are arriving by air, the closest airports are San Francisco International, Oakland International and Santa Rosa Regional. Your will need a car as there is no public transportation to the vineyard. A map and driving instructions will be provided when your reservation is confirmed.
Other Things to Note
WEDDINGS: My daughter's wedding was held at the vineyard. The views truly are spectacular. Guests numbered about 100. We erected a 30'x60' tent on the driveway for seating. After the ceremony, the chairs were replaced by dinner tables while guests enjoyed cocktails on the lawn. Later, dancing with a DJ in the barn on a wooden floor laid for that purpose. If you are planning a wedding, please inquire about options and additional charges for the venue and other items (tent, catering, etc.) that can be provided for an additional cost.
The property is fenced and gated. The gate code will be provided a few days before your arrival. Keys to the house will be available when you arrive. There are large, flat screen, High Def TV's in the Family Room and the Master Bedroom connected via DirecTV satellite. A Propane 3-burner grill is available in the courtyard and two patio heaters, together with the outdoor wood burning fireplace, make a comfortable place to chat over a glass of wine in the evening.
No smoking and no pets. No loud parties after midnight. No Long distance telephone calls, please use your own cell phone. The wine cellar, downstairs office and walk in closet are locked and off limits. Please call me for any needs you have. I live on site and will happy to help you, if I can.
Ken's house was amazing. Exactly how it looks on the photos, great view and perfect for a big group like we were (6, plus a baby). Ken was there to welcome us and gave us a tour of the house, explained how everything worked. He also had a little booklet with instructions to using all of the things in the house.
The host welcomed us and gave us a tour of his BEAUTIFUL home. It's quiet, private and peaceful with awesome views of the vineyard and valley. A great place to relax, unwind and share quality time with friends and family. Close to town yet has a rural country setting. The home is gorgeous with awesome views and all living space on one level. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with a great bocce ball court, shaded patio, outside fireplace and plenty of tables and chairs to enjoy them. I can highly recommend a visit.
Ken greeted us and made us feel welcome in his beautiful home. He let us know that he was available if we had any questions or concerns. The listing is very accurate and the views from Ken's house are spectacular as advertised. The house is large and very comfortable and the kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cooking pots and pans, spices and everything needed if you want to cook there. In addition the outside area has a BBQ grill and fireplace as well as space heaters and a wonderful Bocce ball court.
We will definitely come back her to enjoy the area and will refer any of our friends coming to the area to stay here as it is a much more pleasant place to stay than a hotel.
Ken was a great host! He provided all the information that we needed before we arrived, and then welcomed us warmly when we arrived. He gave us a complete tour of the lovely villa and explained how everything worked and where everything we needed was. When we had questions, he provided answers and helped assure that everything went smoothly.
The pictures online are beautiful, but the Tuscan Villa is even more impressive in person. The idyllic setting, with wildlife around and the vineyard, are lovely. The bright stars at night, the fountains, lemon tree, bocce court, rows of grapes and more add up to provide the perfect rural wine country setting. Inside the villa there are beautiful touches in every room.
The villa is located at the top of a large hill on a quiet country road. The neighborhood includes horses, a llama, sheep, and other farm animals.
I would recommend arriving in daylight, as the final approach to the villa includes some twists and turns, and a steep hill that leads up to the driveway.
The area has lots of wild life, the vineyards spread in every direction. Just Beautiful....
