Want to experience a colorful, lively, multi-cultural Parisian neighborhood, a little bit off the beaten path? Welcome to the Château Mary. Well OK, it's not really a château, but it's a cozy, brightly-lit, quiet apartment in Paris' 18th district -- near the old artist village of Montmartre.
If you like markets, it's a 5 minute walk to the Marché aux Puces St-Ouen de Clignancourt, the world's largest and longest-running flea market. There is also an open-air market at my doorstep where I get all my fruits & vegetables on Tues, Friday & Sunday mornings.
Wonderful restaurants, cafés & pastry shops are all around. I'll be happy to point you to the best ones. Climb to the Sacré Coeur via charming neighborhoods on the non-touristy side of Montmartre in about 20 minutes (or just hop on the Montmartrebus!).
Your bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed. Bedding and a towel are provided. There are some hooks to hang clothes.
There is also wifi, a hair dryer & straightener, coffee, tea and good karma.
The flat is on the 2nd French floor with no lift. I have no pets and I don't smoke.
Conveniently located on two metro lines, metro station Simplon (line 4) is 4 minutes on foot with direct access to Gare du Nord (Eurostar), Gare de l'Est, Chatelet/Les Halles, Notre Dame/Latin Quarter, St Germain, Montparnasse, Cité Universitaire. Metro station Jules Joffrin on the line 12 is 6 minutes on foot and is direct to Abbesses, Pigalle, St. Lazare, Madeleine, Concorde, Musee d'Orsay, etc. If you prefer the bus, there are a multitude of lines nearby.
The closest Velib (shared bikes) station is just across the street at 67 rue Championnet.

I really enjoyed my stay at Mary's, she is a very nice and caring host! She gave me recommendations and tipps to explore paris.
Her apartment is also very nice and tidy, the bed is really comfortable! The apartment conveniently located close to a metro-station and In walking distance to the basilique du sacre coeur!
I would definitely stay there again!
Mary is an AMAZING host! As a solo female traveller, and also new to AirBnB, I was a little nervous about sharing an apartment with someone I'd never met. Mary put me at ease instantly. She showed me around and explained how the apartment "works", and provided me with a wealth of information on places of interest, cafes, restaurants, etc. as well as maps and guides. She has every base covered - including creating a lovely vibe in the apartment and keeping it really clean.
During my 3 night stay, we mostly went about our own business, but on my last night there, we enjoyed some amazing French cheese and wine together, which was a really lovely end to my stay.
The neighborhood is culturally diverse and so interesting, with easy access the city, and had I stayed longer, I would've liked to explore it more.
On top of all of that, Mary is an awesome chick, and I can't recommend her highly enough!!!
Mary was a wonderful host. The flat is lovely and conveniently located near several Metro lines, the Cligancourt flea market, and a wonderful neighborhood.
Mary's place is lovely, cosy, clean, comfortable and has good energy all around. I didn't have enough time to explore the area but it seemed interesting with lots to do and see. Metro close by and easy assess to city center. The host is very caring and makes you feel at home. I really hope to come back.
Being in Mary's flat was an amazing experience. I loved the area, the multicultural feel, the closeness to the two underground stations. She was very helpful and has a fantastic welcome file with all the information that you want about Paris. We shared some breakfast, and some dinner although both of us were out quite a lot. As I was travelling on my own, it felt very safe being in the company of another woman. It was my second time in Paris in two weeks, and when I return I would not hesitate to book the room again. But most of all I loved the conversation we had about life and what we should have and should have not. Amazing host who makes you feel in your own home.
Mary’s place could not have been easier to get to, especially as she had provided me with copious instructions! I arrived by Megabus from London at Porte Maillot bus station, which also serves the shuttle bus from Beauvais airport, and needed only to cross the road to catch the bus to Mary’s flat, which itself was a 25-minute ride and a mere 3-minute walk from the bus stop. From the start, I felt at home there and at home in Paris. The flat is delightfully French in character and wonderfully located for getting around, whether by Metro, bus or on foot. Mary herself is extremely easy to get on with and her knowledge of Paris is invaluable. She provided me with an evening meal after my long bus journey and has put together a really helpful information package for her guests. As she works from home and can be, at times, incredibly busy, you have to be prepared to be quite self-reliant, however the enthusiasm she has for her adopted city is obvious, as is her desire for her guests to make the most of their time there. Without her input, I certainly wouldn’t have managed to squeeze as much into my 2-day visit as I did, and it was great to have someone on the end of the phone if I need to ask something while I was out and about. Oh, and the bed was really comfortable! All in all, I had a great stay at Mary's.
Such a lovely room and flat.
And Mary is a really nice person.
I'll repeat :)
Really recommend it!
It was my first time alone in Paris and I didn't feel alone. I felt so comfortable in her home and with her. We bonded when we went swimming in one of Paris' many public pools the first day! Heads up: Because Mary is naturally helpful and congenial, respect her work hours, else she will not be able to get her work done. In the end, YOU will benefit if she has free time. I sure did. Mary is chill, but like me, can get excited, which I love about her!
Mary is a fantastic host! She offers a cosy and very clean accommodation with perfect breakfast and tasty coffee. She gave me a really warm and nice welcome. There was such a nice and lovely atmosphere during my whole stay at her home. Her flat is located in a nice neighbourhood, which is not far from Gare du Nord. I really recommend Marys home. It is the perfect place for your Paris trip. You'll enjoy it!
Mary is a fantastic host, and her apartment is warm and a perfect place for a stay in Paris. After a long flight in from San Francisco, I was happy to find that Mary's apartment easily accessible from the RER/Metro. This accessibility to transportation also allowed me to skip around town easily even though i was only in Paris for 24 hours (visited friends in the 1ar, 10ar, and 11ar). Eventually, jet lag kicked in and I need to get some sleep. The bedroom is quite comfortable, and there was no street noise to keep me from getting some much needed rest.
I also really enjoyed meeting Mary. She is a very engaging person, was always happy to help me figure out how to get from one place to the next. She also had some good recommendations on places to visit (in fact, she has a little guest booklet she put together with some recommendations on restaurants and other places to visit in the city).
A lovely stay, and one that I happily recommend to anyone visiting Paris!
