About This Listing
Want to experience a colorful, lively, multi-cultural Parisian neighborhood, a little bit off the beaten path? Welcome to the Château Mary... a cozy, brightly-lit, quiet, equipped apartment in the non-touristy part of the 18th district.
Well OK, it's not really a château, but it's a cozy, brightly-lit, quiet apartment in Paris' 18th district -- near the old artist village of Montmartre.
If you like markets, it's a 5 minute walk to the Marché aux Puces St-Ouen de Clignancourt, the world's largest and longest-running flea market. There is also an open-air market at my doorstep where I get all my fruits & vegetables on Tues, Friday & Sunday mornings.
Wonderful restaurants, cafés & pastry shops are all around. I'll be happy to point you to the best ones. Climb to the Sacré Coeur via charming neighborhoods on the non-touristy side of Montmartre in about 20 minutes (or just hop on the Montmartrebus!).
This is a 39 meter-squared flat with one bedroom ideal for a single traveler or a couple. There is a separate living room (with open-facing kitchen) that converts nicely to a second bedroom for one or 2 additional guests on a short-term basis.
The bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed, with drawer space in the bathroom and bedroom to store your things, as well as space to hang clothes.
The living room has a convertible futon, cabe TV, stereo, dvd player, and an open-facing, fully-stocked kitchen with a bar and stools.
Bedding and towels are included. There is also wifi, a hair dryer & straightener, coffee, tea and good karma.
The flat is on the 2nd French floor with no lift. I have no pets and I don't smoke.
Note: I will give priority to you if you have taken the time to fill out your profile with a photo. As this is my primary residence, I am interested in renting to respectful and responsible guests who will take good care of the space. The flat is also available for longer term rentals - please let me know if interested so we can discuss rates and terms.
Conveniently located on two metro lines, metro station Simplon (line 4) is 4 minutes on foot with direct access to Gare du Nord (Eurostar), Gare de l'Est, Chatelet/Les Halles, Notre Dame/Latin Quarter, St Germain, Montparnasse, Cité Universitaire. Metro station Jules Joffrin on the line 12 is 6 minutes on foot and is direct to Abbesses, Pigalle, St. Lazare, Madeleine, Concorde, Musee d'Orsay, etc. If you prefer the bus, there is a multitude of lines nearby.
The closest Velib (shared bikes) station is just across the street at 67 rue Championnet.
Please keep noise levels down when in the shared spaces (hallways, garden, stairwells), particularly at night. I am fortunate to enjoy good relations with most of my neighbors (not always the case in Paris!) and would like that to continue.
Please turn off all the lights, heating and other electrical devices, and lock the door with the key if you are the last one to leave.
No smoking in the flat, please.
Send me your approximate arrival and departure times (including flight arrival details) so that we can coordinate for check in. Also, please let me know your preferred contact method while in France (email, SMS, (website hidden), etc).
In case of questions, please get in touch. THANKS!
A lovely apartment in a great part of Paris. Every evening I'd walk up to Sacré Cœur for the workout and the view! Everything you need is in the area and everything else is a quick and easy train ride away. Mary is a generous host who went well out of her way to make sure I was happy and settled. When the apartment is great and the host is generous, you have a perfect Airbnb experience. Thanks, Mary!
Paris would not have been quite so great without Mary!
Her description of her flat was perfect. Her communication regarding arrival was very helpful - she made sure to meet us at a local establishment and walk us to her apartment. Lots of very specific information about the metro and navigating around the city. She basically covered all the bases. We are so happy to have found her.
The apartment was darling and very comfortable. Warm and cozy.
Mary took me around to the street market with her which was so sweet. We bought fruit and veggies and pastries.
Just can't say enough positive things about our stay.
Thank you so much, Mary.
Mary's place is clean, spacious and lovely. Conveniently located near metro, it's quick to get to other parts of Paris, and the heart of Montmatre is walking distance. Mary has got everything I needed and I've enjoyed living like a local, having drinks in a bar, going to cinema with her neighbor. Mary is super friendly, knowledgeable about Paris and I liked her instantly. I highly recommend staying in her place, and I'll definitely come back.
My stay at Mary's place was absolutely perfect! I couldn't have asked for a better host for my first airbnb experience.
The bedroom and apartment was exactly what I had expected after looking at photos, and Mary seemed like an old friend. We got along beautifully, and she had breakfast with me two times during my stay. She had great advice for places to see and how to get around town, and she let me borrow a book of street maps that came in handy at least once or twice.
There are metro stations very close by, meaning you can get anywhere in Paris easily from the apartment. I chose to walk to various locations, visiting Sacre Coeur, the red light district, a cemetery, and several shopping locations on foot.
I loved that the bedroom had a huge floor to ceiling window that you can open right up to let the breeze in, and the bed was large and comfortable.
Being my first time in Paris, it was great to have an apartment like Mary's to use as a home base. I really felt like I was living in Paris instead of just visiting.
There were all kinds of little shops to visit just a few blocks from the apartment, including bakeries, grocery stores, gift shops, cafes, beauty salons, and more. I was blown away by how convenient the metro system is and how quickly you can reach your destination just by hopping a train.
I highly recommend staying at Mary's place if you'd like to experience Paris. She speaks both French and English and will make you feel right at home. One of the best travel experiences I've had yet, thank you so much Mary.
Mary's house is very nice cosy apartment in the northern part of paris . It takes around 15 minutes with the metro (2 minute walk) to get you to the city center.
Mary was very friendly and nice to welcome us before she left. She has plenty of paris suggestions if you want! We recommend this place!
