I live in an abnormally large apartment in a relatively tame neighborhood. My building is 20 minutes from Midtown by train (15 by bike!), so it beats staying in a cramped noisy room in Manhattan for probably double the price.
It is mostly empty space, so you can invite friends and such. (I've had three friends stay over perfectly comfortably.)
There is a single bed in the bedroom, and a queen-sized futon bed in the living room. There is also a chair in the corner that sometimes makes farting noises when you sit on it. It is quite comfortable.
The kitchen is quite large, for a kitchen in New York. I often use the kitchen space to store my bike. There are many pots with which you may prepare whatever you want.
Guests will have access to internet, fridge, stove, dishwasher, cookware, rice cooker. Unfortunately, the roof is off limits (I found this out the hard way).
I will not be around, so interactions with guests will be 0, unless you want me there.
- I've been told that my neighborhood is "cute."
- It's 20 minutes from Midtown by train
- Great view of the Manhattan skyline
- Less noisy than Manhattan, but not as desolate as other parts of Queens
- Tons of great restaurants on Queens Blvd (2 blocks away)-- I particularly recommend Salt & Fat and Turkish Grill.
- Two laundromats around the corner
The 7 train (40th st stop) is 3 street lengths away. Midtown can be reached in 4 subway stops (if you transfer to the N/Q at Queensboro Plaza). Parking is a bit tricky during weekday mornings, but after 4pm, the entire street outside the elementary school (it's across from my building) is fair game. This goes for weekends as well.
Jessica is an amazing host! I was late for my check in because I had missed my train but Jessica was very understanding and showed me around her apt. My trip was to tour manhattan and queens and this was the ideal location. She also recommended fat cat which is a restaurant that is close by that is very good!
Thank you again for a wonderful weekend!
The apartment is very nice and clean. It has all the conveniences you need with a nice kitchen and a clean bathroom.
The subway is close. For people who want to visit New York it's well located: easy access to Manhattan.
Jessica was hepful and was very flexible with our check in and check out.
I would recommend her place to anyone !
A++. Jessica was a great host and very friendly and accommodating. Her apartment is great, and is a stones throw from the subway station in queens. Highly
