Unpleasant top to bottom. First message I got from host after I have made a booking was to bring my own bedding and towels. Then I found there wasn't going to be any internet. My fault - I have not checked it but for a value of €40 per night you expect it to be there, specifically when you think you are staying in a host's house. You are not. You are in a very old and obscure skiers' quarters that could have been glam perhaps in the 70s. The apartment and the building are in a dire need of renovation. The smell is very bad. I had to leave the balcony door open hoping this would improve the air for the next guests. I thought I left my shoes behind so I asked the host. In reply all I got was SMS telling me that I ruined the flat as the rain water got inside through the balcony and caused damages. Strange, specifically when they had furniture standing on the terrace not worrying about any water damage. The view is with the nose against the wall, all green but stops lots of light from getting in. Not very clean: I have found hair in the bathtub as taking a bath, ugh! I requested a hair dryer but never got it. The address, key boxes and parking were very difficult to find and you won't get any specific help from the host even if you would ask them. Communication was very bad. My language is English. Host kept on responding to me strictly in German. Parking is about 10 minute walk if you are lucky to find it. If not, your car maybe towed away which has almost happened to my vehicle. I had to ask the locals for car parking directions. The host was inflexible and uncompromising in every aspect. I wanted to change my booking, no chance. All I got was a phone call from the daughter who told me "My mother is very angry now and you can't check in to hotels and then change your mind if you don't like them." It looked like they were desperate for clients with all the competition around. There was only one more guest's car parked in their car park with a space for 20-30 cars I presume. It was clear they wanted to continue to cash in on bookings but were not prepared to do anything in return.
This has been my 4th or 5th bad experience with AirBnB.
At the start of my AirBnB membership I was worried to leave an honest feedback about my negative experiences as I was worried that the host would pay back with the same just to"balance things out". I have reached another conclusion when all of my recent bookings have been negative. I guess AirBnB needs to start considering a system of screening their host if they want to save their reputation. Otherwise this road would have a very sad end.
