Il Girasole was built in 1703 and was originally a water mill. Infact, underneath the living room floor, protected by a glass panel, you can see the channel that used to feed the mill.

In our property there are several trails for nature walks, jogging, trekking, and we have mountain bikes available for our guests.
We offer a fun Italian cooking lesson with dinner in our common room, held by a young local chef.

Here you will find pizzerias, bakeries, supermarkets, shops, etc. There are delicious restaurants in the area serving typical Umbrian meals. The beaches and islands of Lake Trasimeno are 20 minutes away by car. In Tavernelle you will also find a tennis court and a great water park.
Guests will have access to the pool and terrace surrounding the pool. This terrace is equipped with sunbeds, tables, umbrellas, an outsde shower and a barbecue. Also, the cottage looks out onto its own private terrace equipped for eating outside. Guests can walk and hike in our 130-hectare property and in the area.
Interaction with Guests
My sister Monica and her companion Ernesto, who manage the property, live on the estate, just a few minutes away by car. We meet our guests daily, when we pass by to see that everyone is happy at the farmhouse, and when we come daily to clean and maintain the pool. We will be happy to give you any information you may need or to help you book restaurants, or others
Upon booking we will send you our suggestions on interesting places to visit, activities and our favourite restaurants in the area. We would certainly reccomend a visit to the beautiful hamlets that overlook Lake Trasimeno, such as Castiglione del Lago with its castle and Panicale; old, charming towns such as Città della Pieve; and famous art and cultural sites such as Assisi and Perugia. From the farmhouse you can easly visit the towns of Chiusi (Etruscan museum and stes), Montepulciano (famous for its wine production), Cortona and Pienza in Tuscany. There are two islands on Lake Trasimeno, one of them a nature reserve, and there is a bird reserve on the shores of the lake. Also, you may want to go wine tasting and visit some wine-producing estates, or buy local cheese produced from our neighbours. It is also possible to go truffle hunting (during the summer months) or taste a local meal at a summer fair. In your apartment you will find a list of local events (summer fairs, music festivals, theatre, concerts, etc.)
We are in the countryside, so there is no local public transport. You must have a car to reach us, visit the area and go to the shops, that are about 10 minutes away by car. Lake Trasimeno is about 20 km away, as are the towns of Città della Pieve and Perugia. Assisi is about 45 minutes by car; Montepulciano and PIenza are an hour away. We have a parking lot, right near the farmhouse (free parking).

We had a wonderful week at Colle San Paolo. Monica was very kind and helpful - she telephoned a local restaurant to arrange lunch for us after we arrived, and she also arranged to keep the pool open for us for an extra week for us, which was big benefit.
The accommodation was very comfortable and clean, and just as described on the website.
The location was also perfect for us after a hectic and tiring week in Rome- very quiet secluded and peaceful, but within 10 minutes drive of the pretty town of Tavernelle, which had good restaurants and shops. We especially like the restaurant Il Tempo, close to Colle san Paolo, which offered excellent food and very helpful and friendly service, and the Illy coffee bar in the centre of Tavernelle - great coffee and pastries!
Sabine also provided excellent guidance on local places to visit and eat. We enjoyed La Taverna in Perugia, and E Lucevan le Stelle in Montepulciano - a beautiful place to visit! There were loads more suggestions which we didn't get time for on this visit, but we hope to get back next year.
We really enjoid the stay, Sabina and her family are super friendly people, always ready to help us. Nothing is too much. The silence of the surroundings was amazing, just what we needed.
Thanks for the recomandations of the restaurants and the truffle hunt!
Hope to see you again Sabina.
We (2 adults 50+) had a wonderful three week stay at Molinella. This was the perfect place for combining mountain bike tours with sightseeing holidays.
The house was as we expected it from the description and the pictures on the internet. It is located very isolated from the next villages inside of a wonderful green jungle. You get there via a gravel road for the last kilometer which partially rather rough and steep (avoid to use your Porsche 911;-). But don't worry, other guest with normal cars didn't have problems.
The bedroom in the first floor is furnished with a standard size double bed, a table and a chair as well as a spacious wardrobe with a little safe inside.
The bath room unfortunately has only a bath tub without a shower curtain and only a few hooks but no rails for the towels. The bed sofa in the large living room on ground floor can be used for children but not for adults. Kitchen was outfitted with all necessary equipment and everything was working well.
In all windows insect protection were installed what was very helpful in August where a lot of mosquitos are around.
The internet was available through WIFI in the house as well as on the terrace and usualy even sufficient fast for streaming our German TV news.
In front of the house there is a large private terrace equipt with a big table four comfortable chairs and a big parasol. Here we had plenty of space to store (and sometimes repair) our bikes.
The pool area was cleaned every day and maintained properly.
Our hosts Monica and Sabina were always available for any kind of requests we had (e.g. providing mountain bike maps, additional bed sheets and pillows and and and.

About the Host, Sabina
I deal with the Marketing and Bookings of this family-run agricultural estate and "agriturismo" (rental of apartments in farmhouses) and I live in Rome. My sister Monica and her companion Ernesto live in Colle San Paolo and manage the farmhouses, and they will be assisting you during your stay. We produce extra virgin and organic olive oil on this beautiful property on the hills that overlook lake Trasimeno, in the Umbrian countryside. We have about 2.000 old olive trees (250 are more than 150 years old), and we have recently planted 500 new trees.
About 5 years ago we restored three 17th-century farmhouses, creating 9 apartments, 2 independent cottages and a villa. We have built two pools and several panoramic terracotta terraces around the farmhouses, and planted many flowers and flowering bushes in the gardens. The area is very interesting (mediaeval hamlets, historical towns, castles, Etruscan tombs and Museums, wine and cheese-producing estates, etc.), and there are quite a few delicious local restaurants - we will be pleased to give you all the information for touring the area and discovering this enchanting part of central Italy, between Umbria and Tuscany.
Good supermarket, also has a few organic and fair trade products.
Very good local food and Umbrian specialties. Cosy and elegant atmosphere, small balcony with a beautiful view of Lake Trasimeno.
Beautful old hamlet on a hill overlooking the lake.
Water park with several pools, water slides, well-tended lawns, clean, games for children.
An ancient ex-glass factory, beautifully restored, very interesting visit.
Beautiful castle with great views of the lake, several shops selling typical and local products (wine, truffle, oil, etc.), a small but nice beach wth bar, umbrellas, boat rentals etc.
Very pretty hamlet with good restaurants and famous works of art (frescoes by the painter Perugino)
Etruscan museum, very nice. Ticket also includes visit to Etruscan tombs not far away (ask at the desk when you buy your ticket). Better phone before to know the time of the visits to the tombs.
The highlight of Assisi, with the tomb of St. Francis and beautiful frescoes by old masters such as Giotto and Cimabue (14th cent.), but the whole town is beautiful and very picturesque, much to see
