About this listing
Located on the shore of Clew Bay, just off the Western Greenway and Wild Atlantic Way, with a large garden sloping down to the seashore. You can go swimming, canoeing and walking. There are breathtaking views of the surrounding islands and mountains.
Accommodation for 2016 is in our downstairs Guest room. It is small but has breathtaking, big views over mountains and sea, and access to big spaces both inside and out. It is set up with 2 single beds, but can be arranged as a double bed if requested. The bathroom is next door.
There is a shared bathroom downstairs with wc, shower and bath. Tea making facilities and breakfast are provided (fruit juice, cereal or porridge, bread, fruit, cheese, tea and coffee). On cold days, curl up beside the stove to watch the sunset. On warm days have your breakfast in our sun-filled verandah. On amazing days have a swim before breakfast. Or heat up in our sauna and brave the sea anyway!
Interaction with Guests
We have plenty of local maps, books on walking routes and nature guides for reference, and we will be happy to help you locate services and activities in the neighbourhood. Newport has a good pub for evening meals and music sessions, the Granuaile. Bicylcles can be hired there and in Westport. Westport also has loads of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, Westport House to visit and Croagh Patrick to climb.
Ideally located between Westport and Newport-10km from both, with easy access to both the Great Western Greenway cycle route and the Wild Atlantic Way driving route, and nearby sailing, sea angling, hill walking, surfing, sea kayaking, swimming etc.

Other Things to Note
The reviews refer to both this room and the larger double bedroom so it may seem confusing. This is the first year I have listed them separately.
The house is fortunate to be shared with a shy cat and a calm, friendly dog. They have no access to the guest room, but people with allegies please note that the rest of the house can be hairy sometimes!
NO SMOKING. If you smoke outside please pick up your cigarette ends! Quiet after 11pm.
The photo shown is of my lovely dog, Molly, and not me, as I tend to be private about sharing my image. However, I have of course been verified by Airbnb, and will be happy to send you my photo if you feel it is important before you make a booking.
I have been a host with the Servas organisation for over 15 years and am very interested in meeting people from other cultures and sharing insights into how different lives are lived.
I am a musician and a sailor.
