The room is on the top floor of a typical Flemish house and I live on the first floor. If I'm in town I can give you all the tips you need to have a great time in our lovely town but even when I'm away I'll leave all basic info about the house, area and city so you can live and enjoy Antwerp like a local.
We're located in the city center, across from the Sint-Vincentius hospital. We also allow longer stays for guests that have a friend or family member hospitalized and are looking for a place close to them. Special arrangements can be discussed.
I stayed with a friend at Mayli's place and we definitely had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the time renting the truly lovely room upstairs in the gentlemen's house. The house is located close to the city center and you can easily walk everywhere or take the tram that stops next to the house. Also, Mayli was around and kindly took us to two bars in the city.
In the end we had an overall nice time and it made our stay in Antwerpen so much more personal.
Me and my friend stayed at Mayli's place for one night. It was a very nice cosy and clean room and the room was close to the centre, it was also a fine quiet neighborhood. We really enjoyed our staying and Mayli and her roommate were very friendly to us!
Mayli was a very helpful and considerate host during our three night stay in Antwerp. The bed we had was a futon style on the floor rather than the one in the picture but ended up being fine. 15-20 minute walk from the centre of the city and handy to transport links. Thanks for having us Mayli!
I've spent three great months in Antwerp. That wouldn't be nearly as good as it was if not for Mayli, who welcomed me in her house. Besides being a welcoming host, she is a woman of heart and a delightful companion.
The house has a warm cozy energy and a peaceful atmosphere, as well as a nice location: very close to the city center, however in a safe quiet area.
If by any chance, I have to come back to Antwerp, I'll have no doubts where to stay.
Mayli was a very welcoming host and was extremely communicative leading up to our arrival at her place in Antwerp. The house is nicely located and we walked from Central Station in under 20 minutes. There are a few nearby tram lines too if you prefer not to walk.
The apartment itself is very comfortable and spacious. We were shown around by Mayli who apologized that the kitchen (which she shares with her guests) needed to be cleaned, which unfortunately never happened during our one-night stay. Overall the place itself is comfortable and Mayli is very warm and welcoming.
The only negatives about staying in this place: if you don't like firm futons (as my fiancé doesn't, apparently...) then you may be a bit uncomfortable on the bed. For myself, I slept fine. Also, starting at around midnight and going until nearly 3:00 am, Mayli had people coming in and leaving the house, who were very noisy and passed by the door to the downstairs apartment several times - perhaps they did not know we were staying there but they were shouting and going up and down to the kitchen, which is on the ground floor near the guest apartment. I slept through most of it but was considering asking them to please keep their voices down in the staircase when it seemed to die down naturally around 3:00 am. Of course it is Mayli's house and as her guest(s) you are sharing it, but our experience here was not up to the standard we had hoped for.
Overall a lovely apartment and host - seems that, based on the other very positive reviews here, our experience was the exception rather than the rule.
We stayed 5 nights with Mayli and had a great time. The flat is just as cute as in the picture, very authentic and nicely decorated. It is clean and compfortable. The location of the flat is great: rather quiet but nice and you can quickly reach the city center, either by walking or with the tram. Mayli was very nice and helpful and provided several maps, tips and so on. We would book again anytime.
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Anvers, l'appart a beaucoup de charme et Mayli aussi, merci encore pour tout!
L'appart est très bien situé (resto, commerces..), tout est accessible à pieds.

We just got back from a wonderful trip to Belgium. We stayed 2 nights with Mayli - wonderful hospitality! Her place is exactly as depicted on the site, she provided some great advice on places to explore within Antwerp and in Belgium (including the Saturday market - not to be missed) We would most definitely come back next time we are in Belgium.
Beautiful, just beautiful. Me and my girlfriend had such a lovely stay in Antwerp, mainly due to Mayli's awesome apartment. Beautiful interior, cosy kitchen and dining area and a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance from the center made this our perfect place to stay. If you want to come to Antwerp, do yourself a favor and look no further; Mayli's little getaway is really all you need!
Great apartment an great host. It was the perfect location for me and a really comfortable place to rest while working in Antwerp. And as an added bonus, Mayli provided some great girl talk and tea. :)
