We do have cats, and have had several people stay with allergies. All have said that they did not experience problems.

Description for the Travel Twin bedroom:

We have a really nicely furnished smaller twin bedroom with a shared hall bath. This has a trundle bed that pulls out for a separate twin bed or can be put together for a king size bed. Very comfortable mattresses (one has a Thermapedic topper), cushy comforters, TV, DVD player, mini fridge, desk, coffee maker, and microwave. It has its own access to the pool via French doors. Decorated with a travel theme. Cat free.

Depending on availability, you may select from this room or two other bedrooms. Here's a description of the other rooms:

Master bedroom 1: Nicely furnished with a queen bed (it has a thermapedic topper), armoire, TV, DVD player, mini-fridge, Coffee maker, microwave, desk, and has its own nice bathroom with a shower. Although we have cats, they do not come into this room so it's good for allergy sufferers.

The Twin Corner bedroom: This room is a little larger than the Travel Twin and is furnished with two twin beds, linens, TV, desk, a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. These are very comfortable Sealy Posturpedic beds. We can move them together for a king size bed, too. The room is light and airy and has some of my horse paintings as decoration. It shares the hall bath and is cat free. This room has French doors opening to the pool.

Master bedroom 2: This is the bedroom we occupy. Just remodeled to include its own beautiful bath. It has a king size bed, and TV. Exterior French door opens onto an atrium. Cats do go in this room, so it is not good for allergy sufferers.

Back Yard:
The back yard pool is situated in a very tropical setting. The neighborhood is quiet, and there is plenty of street parking available. This is a very peaceful setting (email hidden) to get away from the hubbub.

We are located central to everything - 5 – 20 minutes by car to all activities: downtown, close to freeways 163, 8 and 5. Our location is 163 and Genesee - next to Sharp Hospital (walking distance), Rady Children's Hospital (walking distance), close to Mesa College, Fashion Valley Mall and Mission Valley Mall (one exit away), 5 miles to the beach (we bike there occasionally), USD (2.5 miles) and other colleges, and to the San Diego airport and Montgomery Field.

There is plenty of on street parking next to our home.

Buses or public transportation:
Our home is a 15 minute walk to the bus line. For some destinations you will have to take a few buses. Most destinations are approximately 30 minutes to an hour away. This is a better location by car unless you’re young and love to hike. There are no restaurants or shopping within walking distance, however we do give rides when we can.

We are a husband and wife - relaxed and fairly easy going middle aged (well, that’s debatable) professionals with some extra rooms. We work full time.

This is a smoke free, drug free, and drama free home. We are well traveled and understand the needs of a traveler. We are friendly but can leave you to your privacy. You truly will find this an escape, an awesome place to kick back, or be close to the action down town.

Guest Access

Getting around

  • I want to thank Neil and Pamela as I had a great time in their home. The house itself is beautiful, clean and well located in a nice neighbourhood. My room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. Neil and Pamela are extremely nice and are fantastic hosts. I have been very lucky to have had the chance to meet them. I stayed in their house for about 5 weeks and I have enjoyed every single day. They made me feel at home right from the start. I hope I will manage to go back and see them very soon! Thank you again!

  • I really enjoyed getting to know Pam and Neil. Their house was a relaxing Southern Californian respite and very clean and welcoming. Everything was thought out to make my stay smooth and comfortable. She even let my cats bunk with me!

  • This was my first AirBnB experience and I chose the right place for the first time! Pamela & Neil wre very accommodating and the home was beyond wonderful. You can tell that so much consideration was put into decorating, arranging and planning of every room.

My own room was very comfortable. It had the touch of home, yet some of the amenities of a hotel room - TV, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, valet stand for my suitcase, lots and lots of information about local attractions, restaurants & areas of interest.

My room opened up to the beautiful back patio & swimming pool/jacuzzi (although I did not have a chance to use them). The bed was very comfortable. The temperature was comfortable too and the room had a nice ceiling fan as well.

Overall, I loved the experience. This is going to be a tough measuring stick for my next trips! I told Pamela that I regretted not being able to just hang around the house and enjoy it more (had to attend a conference). My daughter is studying interior design and I want to visit again so she can see what a great job Pamela has done with home.

Oh and Pamela shared some chard she was growing as well. I've never tried it before, but I will now. :)

  • It was so great to stay with Pamela and Neil! The house was so homey and both of them were there for whatever I needed. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure was great (two huge deal-breakers for me)! I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

  • I am home in Cincinnati after completing a 13 week travel assignment with Rady Children's Hospital. I was blessed to find my San Diego "home away from home " with Neil and Pamela. Their home met all the requirements I look for when I travel: the support and company of members of the community ; within walking distance of the hospital and public transportation; a quiet, comfortable and private space to rest and relax between my stressful shifts. Neil and Pamela are especially gifted at welcoming you into in their home-I already miss Chloe and Sinatra ; Roxie, Flufferbutter, Little Cloud, Little Flower and Cinnimini....San Diego is a beautiful city with lots to do and your visit will be enriched by the time spent in their beautiful home. If Rady needs me again, I'll be booking another stay! % stars all around!

  • My friend and I had a great time at Pamela and Neil's house! They have been so available for us during our trip; they gave us a really good advice about what to do and what to see! I would definitely go back to their house! They made us feel at home!

  • We have just had a wonderful stay at Pamela and Neils beautiful house. The room was clean with loads of storage space, a fridge (very useful!) and was nicely decorated. We also had private access to the house via the rooms patio doors.

The only downside was that because we didnt have a car, it was diffcult for us to get anywhere in san Diego. There is a bus stop 20 minutes from the house, but we had to take about 3 buses to get to our final destination. Pamela and Neil made journeys easier for us by kindly loaning us bikes.

Pamela and Neil were very friendly, welcoming and allowed us to use the whole house. They made us feel at home and non-intrusive throughout our stay. We'd thoroughly recommend you stay here!

  • Pamela's house is really comfortable and well located (close to freeway to downtown and Balboa Park).
Pamela wrote very accurate instructions to get there and to find everything in the house. The “french door bedroom” is lovely furnished (as well as the entire house). We also used washing machine and dryer, and this was very useful to us.
Everything is at the right place at Pamela’s! She and Neil are really nice persons!! Thanks for everything!

  • Pamela and her husband are great hosts! My boyfriend and I were in San Diego for a quick vacation trip and their home (email hidden) to stay. They have a lovely home and it is conveniently located around all San Diego has to offer. I would recommend Pamela's listing for anyone interested in low key and quaint accommodations.

My husband Neil and I are hard workers , fun, appreciate humor (Neil keeps me laughing), can dance (me, Neil has two left feet), both fairly laid back, loves Italy, likes travel and exotic places, likes animals, loves art, electronically challenged. loves the coast, is a risk taker, leader and finally.....getting old...yuk! I work now full time from home. Neil has his own business that keeps him very busy. We have hosted guests now for 2 years and are having a great time getting to know people and becoming friends. This could become one of the funnest things we've done. Our motto here would be to make our guests as comfortable as possible and help them to enjoy San Diego. Look forward to welcoming you to our home!
