The Space

Open Bali Style home that allows you to feel a part of the natural surroundings with all comforts of modern living.....except TV. You will be the ONLY guest in my home at the time of your stay. The seperate guest bedroom and bath are private from the main house, but join with a walkway to the pool, and open air gathering area that includes internet, kitchen, dinning, living room and laundry. Clothing optional in the pool, as you are the only guest. I have hammocks and books to share as well as a few DVD's but it is better to bring your own selection if you want to watch a movie. I can make arrangements if planned in advance for massage, Reiki, facials, tours, private chef. There are several good restaurants in the area and I am located about 1/2 way between the town of Uvita and Ojochal. My home sits overlooking the Ballena National Marine park and is backed up to Primary Rain Forest....full of birds, monkeys, slothes, butterflies and more....all right here to enjoy close up. There is air conditioning available for an extra fee, but most do not need it, the evenings have cool breeze from the mountains and a light blanket is usually needed long before morning. There are ceiling fans in all areas. I love to share the peaceful beauty I have found here and will do my best to provide you with a very memorable experience that you will want to repeat again. There is much to entertain yourself in our area if relaxation is not your goal. We have Snorkeling, Scuba, Zip Lines, Mountain Biking, Fishing, Bird Watching, Hiking in Jungles, Waterfalls, Quad Tours, Surfing and surfing lessons, Yoga classes , Horseback Riding on Beach or Mountain trails to waterfalls, Marine Park and not far is Corcovado National Park, and more. My home is open for all couples or singles, and Alternative Lifes Styles Welcome. It is also a great Honey Moon or Aniversary stay. My pets are in the main house and not permitted in your bedroom, they are all very friendly and non threatening and love having company. You will also see many different jungle animals and birds if you are patient and around the house at the right time. I am bordering the jungle rain forest and a path way for many is right next to my home! BE SURE TO RENT A 4x4 car for your travels in Costa Rica's southern zone and to my home, it is not far off the main road but it is a bit of a climb!

Guest Access

The gathering area, pool and all gardens...everything except the building with my sleeping quarters.

Interaction with Guests

As much or as little as they desire and time permits. We work off of the property, so there is plenty of time for privacy during the day and around the pool. I am available to book tours and make suggestions always and my partner is available as a private chef with advance notice for dinners.

Getting around

I recommend renting a 4x4 car so you have freedom to explore and come and go as you please.

  • My gilrfrined and I had a wonderful experience at Dale's place. Casa Tranquila is absolutely beautiful! It feels like being in the middle of the jungle but is easily accessible and very comfortable. This is a great place if you want to relax. There are also plenty of opportunities for activities nearby. Dale and Sean are great hosts!!! It was nice to share the house with them and have a chat in the evening. They were very helpful with recommendations and organizing activities in the area. We would love to come back!

  • Casa Tranquila is a beautiful sanctuary where we felt welcomed and had our privacy as well. We were just passing through the area from a cloud forest up north to a rainforest down south. One night only. And yet, Due to Dale and Sean's hospitality we were able to get a sense of the Pacific Coast (Ojochal). She recommended a place to eat, a place with a stunning view and actually made calls for us. Meanwhile, her home felt like a tropical boutique hotel. Our cabana had its own bathroom and was set away from the main house. The pool was glorious and as most of our trip was geared for eco-travel, it was nice to have a strong shower and toilet. Lovely people, stunning place. Would stay there again!

  • Although I did not get the opportunity to meet Dale or make it to the property, she was very responsive and helpful prior to the reservation. Unfortunately, December is HIGH SEASON in Costa Rica which means that rental vehicles are nearly impossible to secure. Although we had a reservation (made well in advance) no car agency guarantees a car until the day you show up. Please take this into consideration especially if you intend to drive to Dominica or Dale's place. Its about a 3-4 hour trip from San Jose so finding other means of getting there was also difficult for us. Dale was very understanding and super great in helping us.

  • Dale and Sean were incredible hosts for our visit to the Uvita area. Dale's home is stunning and was an outstanding retreat after a long day adventuring along the coastline. We looked forward to waking up every morning to the sounds of the jungle, including groups of howler monkeys. We were able to spot the animals 3 times during our week long visit. We will be looking forward to returning back to Costa Rica in the future and will put Dale's Bali Villa on our 'must return' list. Dale's tips for the local area were always spot on with what we were into. We were lucky enough to meet Sean's dog who made the trip in from New York during our stay, certainly a welcome addition to the family. Do not hesitate booking this property, it is the best in the area, and we would suggest a visit to our closest friends.

  • If you could give a bonus star - Dale and her amazing home/accommodations deserve it.

We recently (August 2013) did a 10-day trip through Costa Rica, with Casa Tranquila being the final stay of our journey. From the moment we were booking and seeing the photos we knew that we wanted to end our trip here, staying for 4 nights. Upon our arrival we knew we found a true gem. The pictures she's posted can not do this place justice at all - and even still, the photos are what drew us in :)

The property is amazing. It's an absolute paradise in the middle of the rainforest, with breathtaking views. Everything was absolutely perfect! When waking up after our first night, we were already trying to do what we could to extend our stay, but in the end all the flights out of Costa Rica were entirely booked. We continued on and made the most of our 4 night stay.

Casa Tranquila is close to so many amazing beaches that all sort of have a different vibe to them, depending on what you're looking for. Because it was the Green Season in Costa Rica, we were able to literally have an entire beautiful beach to ourselves (Playa Pinuelas). Amazing.

Dale is an amazing host! She seemed to really be able to tap into what we would expect to get out of our experience. With the restaurants (El Castillo has an AMAZING view and food. Citrus was a fantastic little restaurant as well) and the day trips she recommended we had an amazing time! Follow Dale's advice and you'll be in great hands! Casa Tranquila has an incredible feeling to it and she has a lot to do with making it that way. Her boyfriend Sean was also a great guy and their knowledge of the area and the vibe they put off made for an amazing stay. Her 2 dogs and 2 cats are so friendly and lovable!

I could go on and on, but you really just have to see it and experience it for yourself. Make sure you stay for long enough to enjoy all that the area has to offer!

This was the perfect way to wrap up our trip in Costa Rica! We're definitely coming back here and staying here exclusively! Every place we stayed was great, but this place just had that "something" extra.

  • Our stay with Dale at Casa Tranquila was the highlight of our 15 day honeymoon in Costa Rica. Firstly, the place is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. The open air kitchen/living room is stunning, the pool is beautiful, and the grounds are lush and green and well cared-for.

Dale is also an amazing host. She was happy to discuss our time there and happy to help us set up several excursions. We really can't say enough about her generosity, hospitality and taste. It was a great way to start our honeymoon and we would recommend it to anyone going to the Pacific side who wants a luxurious accommodation for a reasonable price. What great value! Thanks again for everything, Dale!

  • I recently stayed with Dale in her gorgeous tranquil home in July, it was the best, and most relaxing vacation I have had. Dale is the sweetest, most amazing person I have ever met. She was a great host, she made sure that I was comfortable and if I needed anything she was there. I had such an amazing time staying at the house and hanging out with Dale and her boyfriend Sean who is also an amazing person. He was awesome enough to take me out and show me around the city and the beaches, I had a lot of fun hanging out with him and "unleashing the turbooo" hahaha. Overall the place is amazing, it is relaxing and peaceful. You have a beautiful jungle surrounding you with a ocean view that is unforgettable, this is definitely the place to go if you are trying to relax and get away from everything. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in going to Costa Rica. I will definitely be going back soon!!

  • My husband Tom and I had a wonderful experience staying at Dale's place for 5 days during our honeymoon in May 2013. The pictures cannot do this home justice - it is so much lovelier in person! The whole property was designed by owner Dale, who created a mini Bali-esque paradise in the midst of the jungle. The pool was refreshing and clean, the bedroom cabin accommodations were spotless, with views of the rainforest on all sides, and the main house (with kitchen, living room, open to pool and deck area) was our favourite place to hang out, listening to the sounds of the jungle and watching the ocean fall below. Dale is incredibly accommodating, ensuring we felt at ease to use anything we needed while there, and booked 2 excellent day trips for us: one with Rancho DiAndrew to a remote jungle waterfall and lagoon, and the other a ziplining tour through the treetops with a safe and reliable company. We were so impressed with everything we experienced while staying with Dale, and only wished we had more time to spend at her little piece of paradise!

  • We were fortunate to experience Dales lovely tranquil home for one night as we road tripped across Costa Rica, even with the short time we had there, it was the perfect place to bring us relaxation and rejuvenation. Dale's hospitality made it feel like home, she offered great advice and wonderful knowledge of the areas for exploring. We look forward to a longer stay there during our next visit to Costa Rica. With the jungle lush atmosphere and gorgeous ocean view backdrop, this home is truly experiencing the PURA VIDA!

I am bless with living in one of the most diverse ecological parts of the world, surrounded by tropical rainforest, filled with wildlife and beauty. In front of me is the Ballena National Marine Park, so jungle, mountain and ocean abounds. The perfect place to get back in touch with yourself and nature. It is my joy to be able to share this with others. I have been living here around 11 years, love it and know how to enjoy it and appreciate being able to show others. I love making people feel welcome and special and enjoy meeting new friends that come my way. My motto is Love Life.
