Impruneta is hill town located between the valleys of the Greve and the Ema streams, about 20 minutes south of Florence. It was known in ancient times as "in prunetis" or "in pineta" (within the pine woods) and indeed remnants of beautiful pine forests may still be seen interspersed among the olive groves on some of the surrounding hills.
The Church of Santa Maria at Impruneta became ever more well-known for the sacred and miraculous effigy of the Madonna housed there. Pilgrims came in large numbers and a famous fair took place and still takes place on the feast of Saint Luke, 18 October. Originally a feast associated with the movement and sale of livestock, it is now celebrated with stalls, dinners and horse races.
A small village important for the production of pottery had developed near the church. The first record of terracotta manufacture dates from 1098 and the production of terracotta tiles, pottery and bricks has continued to flourish to the present time. The church and its treasure, and the pottery kilns and their output are the principal reasons to visit Impruneta.
However, there are many other interesting sights in Impruneta and nearby, and throughout the year there are festivals and cultural activities.
And if you are interested in castles, Chianti is full of them and they are described in the itineraries of the Chianti Castles route.
The Villa is located less than 1 km from the town's main square and from shops and amenities.
There is a bus stop in town and there also is a bus stop for the nearby city of Florence (12 Km) in front of entrance gate.
Buses run on average every 30 minutes and the last ride in the evening arrives in Impruneta around 8:50 pm. Buses are perfect for visiting Florence during the day and return in the evening and we will be happy to provide all the necessary information and timetables.
If you come by car, Villa Saladini is ideally located as a base to explore Tuscany .
We are just 6 km from the exit “Firenze-Impruneta" of the A1 highway and from the beginning of the road which connects Florence to Siena. From here you can easily reach all places of cultural interest and the most beautiful towns in Tuscany, such as:
• Siena : 60 km 1 hour
• Pisa 100 km 1 hour and 30 minutes
• Lucca : 90 km 1 hour
• Pistoia : 50 km 45 minutes
• Arezzo : 80 km 1 hour
and also San Casciano Val di Pesa (12 km) , Greve in Chianti ( 15 km) , Certaldo (36 km ), Colle Val d' Elsa (40 km ), San Gimignano (45 km), and the renowned spa town of Montecatini Terme ( 60 km)

THANKS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
We had a great time at the villa. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We got a cooking lesson and it was great! We would definitely recommend staying here.
Perla was an excellent host. She was very welcoming on arrival, with tourist information for the area, answered our questions, and fixed us a delicious dinner after a long day of travel. The room had a comfortable bed, extra blankets if necessary, all the basic kitchen tools, a washing machine (we didn't use it though). Both driving and taking the bus to the villa was made easy by the information Perla & Marco provided, which was very reassuring. I recommend you keep the bathroom door closed at night, since the plumbing can sometimes make noises, which is understandable in a old home such as this.
Our experience with Perla and Marco were great. Like meeting two new friends! The villa was stunning and the apartment we stayed in was beyond beautiful and huge. And the bed was amazing too. Probably the best one on our tour of italy so far. We took the bus to impruneta and Marco picked us up there and drove us a very quick drive to the apartment bc it was so rainy. We didn't even ask, he was just there when we arrived. So thoughtful! We also took the cooking class with perla and I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can't wait to test my skills at home. The area is perfect. Not too far
From Florence and not too far from chianti. So beautiful. We also bought 4 bottles of their olive oil. It was delicious. Highly recommend and would come back!
I have spent the last 3 months travelling around Europe using airbnb. Perla is the most organized and accommodating host I have encountered. She gives you great ideas on activities in the area. She also provides other services to add to your experience. We took her pasta making class and also had her prepare a meal for us after a day in Florence. The villa is fantastic and the location perfect. You can take a bus from the end of the driveway to Florence, but you are in a wonderful small town which has everything you need and does not feel touristy. Within 2 days the local coffee shop new my wife's order as we walked in the door. We stayed in one of the one bedroom apartments which was well maintained and furnished in antique furniture. If you are in the area it is the place to stay. I have learned that the one of the most important factors in selecting a place to stay is the host and Perla is the best.
This is a magic place, like a fairytale, surrounded by a beautiful olive grove, fantastic house, great location! Perla was super organized in sending all the necessary info, much recommended!!!
Absolutely recommendable! Perla and Marco are the nicest hosts you can imagine. Perla's cooking skills are incredible and Marcos's olive oil is for sure one of the best we have ever tried.
Perla welcomed us with a bottle of her olive oil grown from Perla's and Marco's olive orchard. She made us feel at home in their amazing villa which is on beautiful acreage. During our stay she took us on a tour of the villa and told us of its history. She helped with ideas and suggestions about going to Florence. When we left Marco gave us a bottle of red wine from a nearby friend's vineyard. We were lucky enough to be in Impruneta during St Luke's Fair but it is a beautiful town at any time.
