Impruneta is hill town located between the valleys of the Greve and the Ema streams, about 20 minutes south of Florence. It was known in ancient times as "in prunetis" or "in pineta" (within the pine woods) and indeed remnants of beautiful pine forests may still be seen interspersed among the olive groves on some of the surrounding hills.
The Church of Santa Maria at Impruneta became ever more well-known for the sacred and miraculous effigy of the Madonna housed there. Pilgrims came in large numbers and a famous fair took place and still takes place on the feast of Saint Luke, 18 October. Originally a feast associated with the movement and sale of livestock, it is now celebrated with stalls, dinners and horse races.
A small village important for the production of pottery had developed near the church. The first record of terracotta manufacture dates from 1098 and the production of terracotta tiles, pottery and bricks has continued to flourish to the present time. The church and its treasure, and the pottery kilns and their output are the principal reasons to visit Impruneta.
However, there are many other interesting sights in Impruneta and nearby, and throughout the year there are festivals and cultural activities.
And if you are interested in castles, Chianti is full of them and they are described in the itineraries of the Chianti Castles route.
The Villa is located less than 1 km from the town's main square and from shops and amenities.
There is a bus stop in town and there also is a bus stop for the nearby city of Florence (12 Km) in front of entrance gate.
Buses run on average every 30 minutes and the last ride in the evening arrives in Impruneta around 8:50 pm. Buses are perfect for visiting Florence during the day and return in the evening and we will be happy to provide all the necessary information and timetables.
If you come by car, Villa Saladini is ideally located as a base to explore Tuscany .
We are just 6 km from the exit “Firenze-Impruneta" of the A1 highway and from the beginning of the road which connects Florence to Siena. From here you can easily reach all places of cultural interest and the most beautiful towns in Tuscany, such as:
• Siena : 60 km 1 hour
• Pisa 100 km 1 hour and 30 minutes
• Lucca : 90 km 1 hour
• Pistoia : 50 km 45 minutes
• Arezzo : 80 km 1 hour
and also San Casciano Val di Pesa (12 km) , Greve in Chianti ( 15 km) , Certaldo (36 km ), Colle Val d' Elsa (40 km ), San Gimignano (45 km), and the renowned spa town of Montecatini Terme ( 60 km)

Grazie, Perla and Marco, for welcoming us into your family during our stay in Impruneta. Your hospitality was splendid and began immediately upon our booking. You welcomed our dozens of questions about your area, transportation, day trips, etc., and followed through with equal grace.
Villa Saladini is a very special place to call "home" for a few days. The 500 year old history is remarkable, the setting serene, amenities complete, and location perfect. We were able to easily walk into town (approximately 1 mile) where we ate at a charming little trattoria with delicious food and warm people. It was so good, we returned for a second dinner! There was a main bus stop right in the town center for traveling into Firenze (30 minutes) and another stop right in front of Villa Saladini.
Thank you for arranging our special activities including a full day Chianti/Tuscany Wine Tour (Grazie Marco), full day privately guided tour of Firenze (Grazie Catarina), and a private cooking lesson right in your Villa kitchen!! We are anxious to try your recipes at home, but it won't be the same without your family.
If you're seeking a unique and very special place to awaken every morning, throw open the shutters to your huge windows and soak in the ambience of an historical Italian villa, all within reasonable distance to primary attractions, you will find it all at Villa Saladini!
Perla & Marco were great hosts. We enjoyed our stay very much. Perla prepared for us delicious italian dinner. We also were given lot of useful information about Florence and Impruneta. I was amazed by history of this beautiful villa . Villa is surrounded by olive trees and looks simply charming. We were travelling by car, but there is a bus stop nearby as well.
Perla & Marco are excellent hosts! Everything was exactly as described in other reviews. Perla was incredibly kind to us, she even helped us with smallest things we asked or needed!
Gorgeus villa and location. Villa is located near Florence but it also near Chianti main road, which makes this house excellent choise for those who want to visit beautifull Chianti region!
We had a great time at the villa. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We got a cooking lesson and it was great! We would definitely recommend staying here.
Perla was an excellent host. She was very welcoming on arrival, with tourist information for the area, answered our questions, and fixed us a delicious dinner after a long day of travel. The room had a comfortable bed, extra blankets if necessary, all the basic kitchen tools, a washing machine (we didn't use it though). Both driving and taking the bus to the villa was made easy by the information Perla & Marco provided, which was very reassuring. I recommend you keep the bathroom door closed at night, since the plumbing can sometimes make noises, which is understandable in a old home such as this.
Our experience with Perla and Marco were great. Like meeting two new friends! The villa was stunning and the apartment we stayed in was beyond beautiful and huge. And the bed was amazing too. Probably the best one on our tour of italy so far. We took the bus to impruneta and Marco picked us up there and drove us a very quick drive to the apartment bc it was so rainy. We didn't even ask, he was just there when we arrived. So thoughtful! We also took the cooking class with perla and I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can't wait to test my skills at home. The area is perfect. Not too far
From Florence and not too far from chianti. So beautiful. We also bought 4 bottles of their olive oil. It was delicious. Highly recommend and would come back!
