We didn't get to meet Mark, however as the keys were in a lockbox we were given the code to we could get in the house with ease. The house was very spacious with pretty much all you need, as well as being clean and comfortable. It is at a great location to visit the park, only a few minutes drive away so we drove back to the park late one evening to see the glow of the lava within the crater - which was great so it is definitely recommended.
We recently a wonderful 3 nights at Ma'ukele and could not have chosen a more comfortable and welcome house to stay in. The instructions to find it were excellent, the cleanliness and use of facilities in the property clearly explained, its location to the Volcano National Park extremely handy and naturally the fabulous hot tub in amongst the tall ferns and lush vegetation was very much appreciated and enjoyed by my 8 year old daughter (as well as myself!). If I ever have the opportunity to return to Big Island and Volcano I would definitely would stay at this property again.
The home was absolute amazing. The pictures don't do it justice. We loved the layout and the hot tub. Spent nights and mornings there. Would definitely recommend this home.
This House was PERFECT! We planned a last minute trip to the Big Island with 7 of us for 1 night and we could not have asked for a better place. Mark responded right away, which is always greatly appreciated with last minute trips, and he always responded to every text/email/call as well. It is a beautiful house and is as described on Airbnb. It's really close(10 mins drive) to the Lava beds, so if you feel like getting in trouble and venturing out...I'd say do it hahaha! The laundry machines were an unforeseen necessity, and we were super thankful they had them. We will definitely stay here again.
There was fresh local fruit on the table when we arrived. We felt very welcome right away. It was a bit chilly but warmed up quickly after we turned on the gas fireplace. The garden that surrounded the hot tub was lovely. It was raining softly, but protected and a great place to chill out! The water could have been a bit hotter but still really nice.
If you turn down the wrong street the neighborhood wasn't great but the houses on either side of Marks are nice and we felt very safe.
Volcano national Park is practically out the door, including the Volcano House - which was really amazing! We ate there 3 times and had an astounding view of the volcano. We even watched it glow at dinner one night! We could get back to Marks house after a day of hiking within a few minutes which made it extremely easy and convenient to enjoy the park.
This place was exactly as described. Very clean, very modern, with great amenities. The surrounding area is very lush, and the little town of Volcano was surprisingly cool. My only wish was that I had more time to stay here!
