Our hacienda has all the amenities you would expect from a luxury hotel including a concierge and wireless internet. At the same time, live like a local by taking advantage of our private location tucked up behind an authentic mexican pueblo.

The space

Escape the crowds of Sayulita and enjoy authentic Mexico at Hacienda Antigua, a 5 bedroom luxury hacienda that includes all the amenities. This ornate and hand crafted hacienda was built to facilitate the ultimate Mexican vacation. Breathtaking ocean views, a private 40' pool, an expansive lawn and courtyard area perfect for weddings or events, a fully stocked kitchen, and more!

Situated in the private, gated, 12-acre Rancho Escondido retreat near Lo de Marcos (an hour north of Puerto Vallarta), Hacienda Antigua is only minutes away from your usual tourist destinations. But when you arrive, it feels a world apart. The location is perfect for those who want to get away from it all, but still be close enough to play a round of golf, take a sunset sailing cruise, or dine at an authentic Mexican restaurant!

A depiction of sustainable design, the Hacienda Antigua was constructed mainly of historic materials recovered from Mexican haciendas and churches too old to restore. Ancient stone, wood, and iron building materials along with antique furnishings were hand selected to add character and history, evoking the feel of a genuine hacienda during the post-classic era in the Bahía de Banderas region.

With five private suites (including a penthouse suite with a private balcony), a gourmet commercial kitchen, and a 40’ heated saltwater pool accented with traditional Talavera tile and Venetian glass, Hacienda Antigua is luxury redefined. It is the perfect place to relax with family and friends! Entertain in the authentic Mexican cantina that opens up to a 1,000 square foot veranda. Enjoy the stunning 270-degree view of turquoise-blue waters, tropical jungles and majestic mountains. Lounge by the pool with a cold cerveza, nap on an outdoor lounge, or play a game of cards around the table while your friends blend up another pitcher of margaritas!

The fully stocked gourmet kitchen has everything you will need to create wonderful meals from fresh local ingredients or cater a special event for a larger group. Two commercial sinks and a commercial oven, refrigerator, and dedicated ice machine add to the functionality of this beautiful rustic kitchen. Enjoy al fresco dining in the courtyard or a more formal dinner at the 10-foot spanish colonial dining table. If you would like to arrive to a fully stocked pantry & fridge, send us a list and we will do the shopping before you arrive (for a small additional fee). At your request, a personal cook can be arranged to prepare Mexican delicacies for you.

The thoughtfully laid out floor plan and incomparable ambiance is perfect for entertaining as is the expansive yard landscaped with tropical plants and a spacious grass area. It’s the perfect spot for a wedding! A state-of-the art indoor/outdoor sound system provides all the technical equipment you will need for your big event!

Designed and constructed to look as though it has been thriving for 500 years, Hacienda Antigua offers an authentic taste of Mexico with five-star accommodations, features, and amenities. Whether you are planning a family vacation, a group adventure, a company retreat, or an unforgettable wedding, Hacienda Antigua provides a first-class experience like none other. My family and I stayed here for a few days before my wedding down in Sayulita. We kept referring to it as 'Pablo Escobar's' house because it was that amazing and over the top. Kelley was wonderful with all communication and set up. All of the food and chefs she scheduled were great. We had massages as well as an excursion with Oliver (Xplore) and they were both wonderful experiences. The staff was there to handle your every need (Spanish helps a lot here) and even brought us blow up mattresses for when our friends arrived late the last night. The ride through town to get there is off the beaten path and filled with dogs you will find in any Mexican town, but don't worry once you get up there it will all be worth it! The house itself is U shaped around the pool with four bedrooms downstairs and one upstairs. Each bedroom has air conditioning, although a couple have outdoor bathrooms! Enjoy the peace and quiet and gorgeous view, we sure did!!

While the home is a real paradise, and the staff were lovely- take note this place is pretty secluded. For us it worked great- we brought 2 one year olds with us and had a lovely family holiday- but if you are expecting to walk to the beach you will need to pick a different spot

Not much can be said other than fabulous...the hacienda, the view, the staff, everything about Hacienda Antigua is inviting and comfortable. A great dinner and cocktails greeted us and a wonderful breakfast was cooked every morning. The staff were friendly and accommodating while allowing our group space and privacy.

This is a beautiful house at 250ft elevation sitting among a wide expanse of jungle and pastures, overlooking the ocean which is approximately 2.5 miles away. We had 8 people stay in the house, which it more than comfortably fit. It has two master suites, three separate bedrooms with private bathrooms, and large kitchen, dining, areas and a beautiful pool. We had a mix of schedules (some people waking up at 5AM, others at 11AM) and everyone has privacy and peace. It is around 1 hour north of Puerto Vallerta, with a few tiny towns near by. Secluded and peaceful. We never bothered to lock the house, although there are two locked gates and guard dogs. The house is quite new, but built in part with materials repurposed from an old church, and has motifs mixing various religious elements. Each room is spacious and the bathrooms are unique, many of which feature outdoor showers and toilets. Its quite fun taking a shower while looking at the stars. You can go for nice walks along the stone roadway and see a broad variety of birds and other wild life, including really cool things such as citreoline trogons and iridescent orchard bees. For us, breakfast was included which was enormous and tasty, and we hired Iris to cook at night - she was fantastic and we highly recommend her. If I could bottle the hot sauces she made and bring them home I gladly would. Great views of the stars and a beautifully maintained landscape. Definitely rent a car because it is far from everything. We went to the nearby towns a few times, but mostly just stayed at the house, since it isn't super convenient for heading to the beach (go to guayabitos which is 15K north, rather than San Francisco which is 15K south) and the pool is great. Several of us are not big pool fans, but loved this one (not chlorine stinky, warm, great size, lit at night). We also brought in the masseuse they recommended and she was great. If you are a runner, there is a nice 5mile loop you can do the beach and back, but... its tough hills on the way back. Bring bug repellant... we had lots of ankle bites from lots of mosquitoes. Overall a very nice, relaxing stay.

In short, this home near Lo De Marcos is the most beautiful, tasteful and elegantly designed house I've had the pleasure of visiting. Kelley and Allison were perfect coordinators for our entire trip with excellent communication throughout. Our chef Gabriel and our daily helper Dora were sweet and welcoming. I really can't imagine a better Airbnb experience. Hacienda Antigua era como un sueño.

The pictures do not begin to show the hacienda! Each bedroom has a unique ensuite. The kitchen puts to shame a lot of commercial kitchens. The living areas are spacious and beautifully furnished. My 11 member family had tonnes of room. Dora and Maria made us breakfast and lunch each day and cleaned up after us. Gabriel came each night to prepare us another gourmet meal. Allison was always on call to make reservations and answer questions. The location is a little out of the way, but we had a cab driver from Lo De Marcos take us anywhere we wanted. Markets, beaches, surfing and more are all just a few minutes away. The rancho on top of a hill gave us a spectacular view of the ocean and the town below. Peaceful, relaxing, unbelievably beautiful. This place is a dream.

My husband and I live on the central coast of California, but we've been traveling to the Nayarit region of Mexico for the last 10 years. We love to be a part of the community and immerse ourselves in the culture here.
