Let us show you a REAL Irish welcome....!!
The best B&B in Ireland!!! I felt like a queen in Tony's and Louise's barn! Never had such tasteful breakfast! It keeps you going for the rest of the day! Can't wait to try Tony's diner. Everything fresh from the garden! Loved the atmosphere and Tony's great stories. Definitely will be back!
I like this place very much. The area is in the countryside with sheep, horses and chickens. Tony is a great host and his breakfast is very tasty. The rooms are comfortable with an individual character and very clean. Tony knows a lot about the area and has some good recommendations. I felt very welcomed and enjoyed the stay. Would go again any time.
Our group of eight had a wonderful time at the barn. The location is beautiful, and the barn itself is very spacious and clean. Tony was a wonderful host - full of great recommendations for local sights and eats. He was also very helpful and considerate - making sure that everyone made it home from Dublin each night, checking whether or not we'd be having meals the next day, and even driving one of us to the airport when we got stranded without a ride.
FOOD: The food was amazing. My favorite part about our stay may be the delicious breakfasts we were served each morning. Homemade everything straight from the farm! Be sure to confirm meal details with Tony prior to your stay. Dinners were not included in the price for us, but breakfasts were. There was also a per-bottle corkage fee for wine. It may vary by group size and length of stay.
LOCATION: About 30-40 minutes from Dublin by car. Road signs in Ireland are a little harder to find than in the US, so having access to GPS saved us many times. I'd recommend having access to GPS or very detailed paper directions for each car in your party, as the location is remote.
ATMOSPHERE: The farm itself is gorgeous. The area is lovely, the animals are beautiful, and everything is super green. The barn is very charming -- easy to relax by the fire with a good book. Tony is super friendly and loves chatting with guests about history and the various photographs around the barn. I really enjoyed our talks. That said, if you're looking for a completely hands-off host (like a hotel) that gives you the keys and is not to be seen again, this is not your place. Tony loves interacting with his guests and will be a frequent but very pleasant presence.
AMENITIES: We had water and glasses in every room, as well as fresh towels every morning. The place does have a kitchen for cooking, but Tony said that guests were not allowed to use it due to insurance reasons. If you need to keep things cold, you'll need to pass them to Tony while he is there preparing meals, as the fridge is in the kitchen (which is kept locked).
If you get the chance, be sure to go take a look at the horses!
This is a great place, especially if you like great food, beautiful scenery, cute animals, and animated conversation. Tony is a lot of fun and a wealth of knowledge about, well, many things! My group particularly liked all the local (read: from the farm) elements of the food.
And, to be sure, it is a very clean and well-thought-out space. A great balance of rustic charm and modern convenience, each appearing right where it counted.
If that sounds good to you and you are looking for a place that isn't so very far from Dublin, but feels rather deep into the countryside (in a good way), then this comes highly recommended.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at The Barn! It was truly a first-class experience from start to finish. The accommodations are fabulous! Spotlessly clean, comfortable and inviting. Tony provided great conversation and equally impressive meals! He even let me join him in his garden to pick a variety of lettuces for the salad. I would highly recommend The Barn for anyone from couples to large groups. Tony has a completely polished and high-end set-up for fantastic value. Thanks Tony!
