Escape to a tranquil, historic Appalachian farmstead with all the modern amenities by staying in the downstairs bedroom in our 3 bed, 3 bath farmhouse. Spend time enjoying the grounds, the jacuzzi, and the well-stocked trout stream across the road. Enjoy viewing the Milky Way in this dark skies area or just relax in one of our hammocks. Perfect for folks who want a peaceful getaway or enjoy hiking, biking or fishing (Grayson Highlands and the Virginia Creeper trail are 15 minutes away).
The space
The farm is set on an 8 acre farm in a tranquil valley 10 minutes north of charming Lansing, NC and 1 mile south of the Virginia border. The bedroom is on the first floor and has a private bath for your use. The upstairs is occupied by the owner and common spaces downstairs are shared with the owner and other guests and family but are kept tidy and clean.
The house is set back from the main road, providing privacy and tranquility. Since this is a working farm, the owner and farm helpers may be tending the sheep, renovating one of the old outbuildings, or just mowing the lawn, and you are welcome to ask to participate if you wish to be involved in farmlife!
We are at 3000 feet elevation and rely on mountain breezes and fans to keep cool in the summer (no AC in the room). If you are extra sensitive to heat, please keep this in mind as there are a few days each year in June-August where the temperature can be higher than normal.
Guest access
You will have a private bedroom and bathroom with lock plus can access all rooms on the first floor including the tv room, sunroom, kitchen and dining area, and all of the rest of the property except inside gated areas and inside old barns.
Other things to note
RULES OF THE HOUSE:
• Checkin after 3PM, checkout 11:00AM.
• The farm is designed to be a peaceful place to get away from technology and noise. Please keep that in mind before booking as we ask that guests refrain from high volume activities like loud music and • excessively loud TV/movies.
• Quiet hours in the house between 10pm and 6AM
• No smoking or vaping in the house or on the farm grounds.
• The house and farm grounds are not kid-proof (no kid-proof locks on cabinets, farm implements and fertilizers, etc. in the barn and outbuildings) so we ask that any kids staying at the farm be older than 13.
• As a renter you acknowledge understanding that there are 2 motion-sensor activated cameras on the property. One is at the entrance road and one is at the front door (Ring Doorbell). These are only monitored to prevent and document trespassing.
• No pets permitted on the property.
• Please do not open or pass through closed gates.
• Exploring the “back” barn in the very back of the property is permitted at your own risk but the front dairy barn and livestock barn are off limits at this time. Please leave the barn as you found it, including closing the doors securely as they were closed when you found them.
• Maximum of 2 guests in the room.
• Absolutely no parties or events unless specifically approved by owner.
• Guests are asked not to go into the cow fields on the slopes above the property. These are privately owned and we do not have permission to enter these fields.
