Beautifully designed apartment in the heart of the old city providing sanctuary from the crowds of El Born. This beautifully renovated apartment has the advantage of being right in the centre of El Born, the chic upmarket neighbourhood situated within the old centre of this remarkable city. Comfortably accommodating six to eight people, this apartment is stylishly designed with a cool, sophisticated look.
The area surrounding the apartment:
The El Born apartment is situated in the heart of the Born, which is the trendy, upbeat part of the Old Town in Barcelona. It is situated beside the Gothic quarter of Barcelona and is the oldest part of the city and the site chosen by the Romans during the Augustus Empire (27 to 14 B.C.) to found a new colony.
The Born area contains a concentration of medieval Gothic buildings only a few blocks northeast of Las Ramblas. It is an enchanting labyrinth of streets linking with squares, where there are plenty of good bars, restaurants and lots of designer as well as artisan shops and boutiques to browse and wander around.
There is also a large public park and zoo within two minutes' walk of the apartment where the spacious, verdant surroundings offers an antidote to the busy streets nearby.
The El Born apartment has a very modern and unique look; it blends the old with the new, such as the exposed original wooden beams in the ceilings with the modern furniture and elements such as metal pipes and glossy, polished floor throughout, making this apartment a wonderful choice for any visitor to Barcelona.El Borne is located on the second floor (real FOURTH floor) of an old and beautiful building with NO (email hidden)ere is a public car park within 30 metres from the apartment should the guest require to park a car. Having been recently renovated the look is modern and very beautiful.
The Born apartment has two bedrooms, the main one has a double bed with an en suite bathroom and is very spacious; the ensuite bathroom consists of bath/shower unit and sink, the bath comes with jacuzzi style jets and is a real treat for the guest.
The second bedroom has two to four single beds and also comes with an en suite bathroom, this bathroom comes with shower unit and sink. Both the bedrooms and the bathrooms are chic and modern in style.
The apartment also has a courtesy bathroom which is funky and art deco in style, decorated with a bright yellow colour on the walls it is a fun feature of the apartment.
The floor throughout the apartment has a polished and glossy look and adds to the sleek look of the apartment. The living area of this apartment is welcoming and a great place to sit back and relax after trekking around Barcelona city.
Here the guest can avail of the TV, DVD and the stereo. In this area you will also find two sofas, both of which are individual sofa beds where guests can sleep. One of the apartment's nicest features is the use of mosaic tiling which has been used in the living room to give a unique and distinct look.
The dining area and kitchen are in the same area. In the dining area you will find a large table and chairs for six guests where you can enjoy many a meal cooked in the open plan and modern kitchen. The kitchen has all the appliances necessary to make your stay in this apartment a hassle free one. Guests will find all the usuals, such as toaster, juicer, pots and pans, fridge-freezer and so on.

The apartment also comes with AC/heat which ensures the guest is as comfortable during the summer months as in the winter months; it also has ADSL (internet) connection for those 'wish you were here...' e-mails or for business purposes.
Whatever the reason for your visit to Barcelona, be it business or pleasure, the El Born is a wonderful choice!

Everything about our experience staying at Horacio's place was fantastic. Great location, host and loft. Highly recommended!
This was a great loft in an excellent location. Horacio and Delphine were great to deal with. Loved it.
Thanks, Horacio and Delphine for a wonderful stay in your El Born apartment! The size was great, we felt so comfortable and relaxed and kept saying to each other what a great place it would be to bring a big group of people. As it was, it was just the two of us but the apartment felt palatial, compared to others we've stayed in in Barcelona.
We were very kindly left a bottle of Cava and red wine by our hosts, (we were celebrating our anniversary), which we sat and drunk on Barceloneta beach one evening.
We struggled to find many apartments that had a proper double bed (rather than singles pushed together) so were thrilled to find this one! It was extremely comfortable, the perfect size and had really good bed sheets. Slept very well every night! The light, space and architecture of the flat was very cool and unique and I would happily stay here again. It had all the amenities you could want in a holiday apartment (expect maybe an ironing board; the iron was there though!)
The general location is excellent, on the border of El Born and Barceloneta (and only fifteen min walk from Raval, where we spent a lot of time), which meant we were close to everything we wanted to see. Don't miss Jai-ca tapas in Barceloneta and Can Paixano, a bonkers little tapas/Cava bar not far from Barceloneta (don't expect a seat in either one! They're both crazy). We also tried a lovely little Argentinian snack bar called Kuk, a couple of blocks from Sagrada Familia. AMAZING empinadas!
I would only say say two negative things about the apartment, both of which are pretty much out of Horacio's control but worth knowing if they tend to matter to you. Firstly, there is no lift, and the 4 flights of stairs get tiresome (especially if you've just forgotten your suncream!). Secondly, the road outside does get reasonably loud with the bars chucking out their rubbish late at night (smashing bottles under the window). BUT, whereas these things might concern others, we looked at the positive and found a great, spacious apartment in a beautiful old Spanish building with kind and attentive hosts, smack bang in the centre, so it was most definitely worth it!
This loft was perfect! Horacio was extremely helpful as a host, even offering help with carrying luggage up the stairs (the stairs were not as daunting as advertised in other reviews), and pointing out local must-see attractions.
The Born area is in the heart of Barcelona, with amazing curved streets where around every corner is an amazing store or restaurant or bar. The loft was very quiet, with a great balcony view of the plaza in front of the El Born CC where ancient ruins lie. It is not far from La Rambla (headed by the Columbus statue which apparently you can get to the top of), the Picasso Museum, Palau de la Música Catalana, the gondola up Montjuic, and Palau Guell . And not far from the beach, so I could run along the beach several mornings and watch the sun rise. Restaurants abound in the area.
The loft itself has a great kitchen, and is very large - multiple people would still have their own privacy with a large master suite, a large guest suite with 3 beds, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and wireless internet. There's a TV, but who watches TV when visiting Barcelona? We didn't make much use of the kitchen, but next time I suggest going to the Santa Caterina Market (10 minute walk if that), buying some fresh produce and fish, and creating your own Spanish masterpieces. The soaking tub in the master suite was also a nice way to unwind after a day of adventure getting lost and walking the streets. There is a dining room off the kitchen and also a large lounge area with 2 comfortable sofas where you can start your evening with wine and conversation before you embark out and enjoy the Barcelona night life. The loft has lots of windows which when left open give it a wonderful open-air feeling.
I would highly recommend this loft to anyone visiting Barcelona. Oh yes, it's next door to Estacio de Franca, the train station that has trains to such resort towns as Sitges (40 minute ride), so you can explore easily more of Spain with day trips while headquartered in Barcelona. We also utilized the "Explore Catalunya" tour company for a guided trip to Girona and Costa Brava (this tour company is right across the street from Palau de la Música Catalana).
We had such a wonderful trip, and our gracious host Horacio provided such useful information. He was very responsive and made sure he was reachable should anything arise.
Dear Halsey, I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our apartment, I was a pleasure to host you and meet you and hope to see you around one day.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review and share your experience with any future guests, that is very helpful.
You are really great warm and kind people, thanks again, all the best Horacio!!!!!

This trip was our first experience in Europe and also using the website. We will definitly re-use the site in the future. The apartment was exactly as seen on the pictures. It was really easy to get the keys. As soon as we landed, we contacted Horacio and we setup the arrangements to meet in front of the building. Horacio was kind and brought us water and a bottle of wine really nice attention. The apartment is spacious and well located. It has everything you need to prepare meals, the only problem is the qty of good restaurants just walking distance so we pratically didn't use the kitchen. The apartment also have washing machine and dryer so it is really conveninent. I would definitly re-book from Horacio in the future
Location of flat cannot be beat. El Borne neighborhood is definitely the place to be. Flat is spacious and comfortable. Beds nice and soft. Showers with plenty of hot water. Design cool and contemporary. Best bars restaurants and street shows can be found just down those many stairs.
On the downside, flat could use a little TLC - door knobs fall off, kitchen wall looks dirty, privacy shade between bedroom and kitchen is held up by scotch tape, wardrobe door has a dent like someone punched it in. Small details but they add up to give apartment a bit of a tired look. Also lighting is pretty dim and many tall uneven steps to reach the apartment. Stair rail on apartment floor must be fixed. It does not look safe. Make sure you have everything before each time you leave the apartment. In short I wish apartment owners/managers realize a fraction of their earnings must go towards routine maintenance.
I hope you are greeted by Horacio and NOT Diego. The first is a sweetheart, the second not so much...
To sum up, I would definitely stay there again but apartment is not for older people or family with small children on account of the many stairs to reach it.
many thanks for choosing my loft apartment in the heart of the Born area and for taking the time to write this honest review.Thank you also for pointing out again the little damages that you mentioned to me on the day you were checking out. All of them have been already sorted out, except for the building not having a lift.
I am happy that you enjoyed your visit and that you appreciate so much the Born area, is my favourite part of Barcelona.
Is a pity you had that sensation of the Kitchen walls when the whole apartment had been totally repainted just 2 weeks before you entered!!!.
Hope to see you soon back in Barcelona and that next time I may invite for a glass of a good red wine.
All the best Horacio
We spent a week over the Christmas holidays at the loft and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. It was spacious enough for two couples and a toddler and had all of the amenities you would need. The El Born area is packed with restaurants, shops and nightlife and as the loft is also located next to the Citudella Park and beach it is also great for families. We ran in the park and went to the many playgrounds and the Zoo. We would stay in the loft again during any season.
Really nice apartment in the middle of born Area.
