LP and John were great hosts! The area near harajuku was super exciting and very nice. LP and John drew me a map with all informations of the sourrounding area. The knew everything, I could ask them all I wanted. LP made a very nice informational sheet how to get there and what to do. They showed me some good restaurants and did reserve one resetaurant for me (Sazanka, Hotel Okura,Teppan-yaki restaurant). The second night Lp cooked for us, and it was great, they made a lot of different things to eat. In the meantime John and I played a korean monopoly. We had a very nice time together, and 3 days weren't enough. So I will have to go back. In exchange of their kindness I taught them how to bow a tie :) they were very talented.
So all together it was a great experience and they were cool hosts. Only minus point is maybe their sleeping rythm :) But as a tipp, all the shops and coffeeshops don't open before 11am, so go out late, sleep long and have a great time.
The appartment was very nice, I loved how LP did it. There were alot of drawings of LP, she is a great artist.. the cat is cool. She likes to run..
The room is small, but you have enough place for all your stuff, and you even have a small balcony. The area is in a very good position.
Amazing stay in Tokyo at Lp and John house! Tiny, comfortable and clean. You can easily walk to Takeshita, Omote and Shibuya. Directly in the heart of the City!
What can I say - an AMAZING apartment, AMAZING location and most importantly AMAZING hosts.
From the second the booking was confirmed - when I was sent a 5 page illustrated pdf covering everything you need to know before getting to Japan complete with very detailed illustrations on how to reach the apartment - to the extremely personal hospitality given by LP and John - everything was considered and made my trip to Tokyo a pleasure.
All I can say is STAY HERE! You won't regret it.
LP and John are, simply, the perfect guests.
Maybe i can stop here, cause the word "perfect" is the only that can explain my feeling once come back in Rome from my japanese trip, but i wanna explain.
I had the occasion to see all the three opportunity to stay in Tokyo that LP and John gives to people (two apt/studio and also their house) and one is better than other. The apts are full of creativity on every wall, are comfortable, clean, so intimate and you really can feel yourself at home, and this is one of the most important thing.
They are all very near to the "heart" of the city (two steps from Harajuku station), but in the same time quiet and calm, and very easy to find (but really hard to leave :)
And, let talk about the most important thing: LP and John! What can i say: just that i feel to have found two new friends.
This kind of people give to you an energy and a kindness really hard to find: they are sweet, easy, creative, interesting, funny and helpful (they give me tons of advise and maps and suggestions).
It will something i'll never forget and i feel so lucky for the occasion to have met them and to stay in their PERFECT house.
Random things LP and John did for change my trip into and unforgettable trip:
• they let me know one of the most tasty and amazing restaurant i ever tried, on the fourth floor of a building where you can have a breathless view of night tokyo and some of the most delicious japanese recipes you can have;
• they give to guests a fundamental device: the portable wi-fi, something that will became your best friend, when you will be "lost in translation" (i know this is very "technical", but believe me, it's really an added value);
• they present me their cat Psycho, i fall in love with that adorable hairball;
• they give me so pure and authentic smiles and let me remember what's the real meaning of a trip: know new friends, not only new cities.
John and LP are the nicest, most helpful hosts, they are so lovely and also a lot of fun! They were so good with giving me directions and helping me to find stores/shopping districts/train lines - everything really! They are such great hosts and such lovely people :) The apartment itself is really cool, decked out in beautiful paintings and illustrations by LP, and in a brilliant location right near Cat Street and Takeshita Dori, perfect for shopping.
LP and John were the nicest hosts who made me feel at home as soon as I checked-in. The apartment they live in is decorated in such a cool way and every turn I made in the apartment, I discovered something new. My bed was probably the coolest part as it was hidden in the wall and I would take it out when going to sleep. It was super comfortable! LP and John also have a great cat named Psycho and a really nice balcony to lounge on. LP and John showed me to some of the best sushi and coffee in Harajuku and we also got to go to the amazing Robot show which was lots of fun. If you are planning a trip to Tokyo, I would highly recommend staying with LP and John.
Fantastic place to stay! LP & John were recommended to me by another friend who had traveled through Japan - true to her word, they were super kind, helpful and soooo nice. They give great recommendations of where to eat around town and their apartment is amazing! Missing them already :)
I had the best stay in Tokyo thanks to John (unfortunately LP wasnt there at the time i stayed!)
Firstly, the location is amazing. Walking distance from Omotesando and all the amazing shops and food that there is in the area. Cat street is only a few minutes away, and JR Harajuku station is a 10 minute walk (if you walk slowly!!) and Shibuya isnt that far at all!! Yoyogi park is right next to the station if you like the chance to relax amoungst the treets :)
The apartment was very comfortable and i was made to feel welcome from the moment i walked through the door. John was wonderful with giving me some tips for good places to go in the area and suggested some amazing cafes. I also had a really fun night going out for dinner with John, his brother and a past air bnb guest who was still in Tokyo.
I would recommend this place to anyone who was going to Tokyo!
I stayed here for 12 nights and I was super well taken care of by John and his brother, they are such lovely people and they made my stay in Harajuku amazing! They know about all the cool places to go and had a lot of great recommendations, but best of all is that they are fun to hang out with! The apartment has a super cool atmosphere, a lot of nice design, many things creatively made by the hosts themselves (!), and also very comfortable - I left feeling very inspired and happy!
Thanks for being such great hosts! Super highly recommended for the ultimate Tokyo experience!
John and his brother Pete are unbelivable hosts, such fun, sweet and cool people. They make you feel at home in an instant, like you belong in Tokyo! I found myself thinking that I was there to stay indefinately instead of just a short 2 week visit.. If you are interested in fashion, design, art or food, they will have plenty of recommendations. We miss our new friends and we can't wait to go back!!
Harajuku is one of the nicest areas in Tokyo, with many great fashion designers, cafés and bars right around the corner. We liked it so much we almost had to force ourselves to go to other areas.. easy to get stuck there. :) Ayoama/Omotesando is a 10-15 min walk from the apartment, and from there another 15 to Shibuya. Of course, it takes much longer than this because there is so much to see on the way ;)
The apartment itself is very cool and well planned with two balconies and lots of fun details in the interior designed and built by the hosts. Lp was out of town so we never got to meet her, but her aura was present through the many paintings and illustrations that hung around the apartment, also very cool. The cat Psycho is soo cute and not as crazy as they will say ;)
We would like to give John, Pete and Lp our warmest recommendations, and there is no doubt that we will stay with them again when we come back to Tokyo!!
