We had a great stay at Morgan's treehouse! It was very rustic but beautiful. I was worried at bit at first because the doors do not lock at all but Morgan assured me that security was not an issue and she was right. She has three dogs on the property (I can't remember their names!), and every night the same sweet girl came upstairs and laid on the couch outside our door and wouldn't leave until we did which I loved! In fact I think that is what I will miss most!!! We didn't get to meet Morgan as she was out of town but her cousin/assistant was more than helpful! He answered all our questions and rented a motorbike for is right away. We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it in a heartbeat!!
We had a great time at Morgan's place. Really beautiful house with a lovely garden. It's also in a really nice and quiet area. Morgan was really helpful whenever we had any questions. We would definitely do this again! Thank you!
If heaven exists it may certainly look like Morgan's villa. The typical Balinese decoration is in perfect harmony with the nature that surrounds. Morgan is very kind and welcoming, she will give you lot of tips and good area adresses, she may even provide you scooter. Enjoy this magical place.
Thanks for all
If you are looking for a magical place to fully experience the Balinese spirit, look nowhere else - This is the PERFECT option for you. Falling asleep with the smell and silence of nature is just incomparable feeling. Love it!
We enjoyed 5 nights at Villa Kayu on our honeymoon trip to Bali.
Morgan was a great host. She communicated wonderfully and upon arrival, provided us with a very helpful hand drawn map of local recommendations (restaurants, yoga, shopping). All of her suggestions were spot on!
We really enjoyed Betelnut Cafe, Bali Buda and Desa Seni for yoga--all within a 10-15 minute motorbike ride.
The place itself was charming and rustic and we enjoyed the feeling of "camping indoors", where we could hear beautiful birds, and even singing from the church next door.
We found it pretty easy to get around with this place as our "base" camp.
The upstairs room does get warm during the day, but it's totally comfortable at night during sleep.
We'd recommend this place to others who want to relax without the craziness of places like Seminyak (which is it's neighboring town).
The beach was pretty close by and easy to get to by scooter.
We thank Morgan and Brad for hosting! We will keep fond memories of Villa Kayu with us forever!
We loved staying at Morgan's treehouse. It's beautiful, rustic and altogether lovely! Between taking taxis, tour pick up service, and renting motorbikes, we didn't find the location inconvenient at all. And Morgan's recommendations are all spot on! The French bakery (Mister Spoon) and the dinner at Hotel Tugu were both fantastic.
Our only complaint is that the AC was weak. It's fine for the evenings, but the bedroom did get quite warm by late morning, (though that motivated us to get out of bed)! Also, there was a lot of dog fur on some of the couches.
A few tips: be sure to download the map on (website hidden) map on your smartphone when you arrive and drop a pin at the house. This way, you'll never be lost and can help drivers easily navigate back.
Also, make sure there's a key in the safe before trying to lock your belongings in there. Our key was missing when we arrived, and we tried using the pinpad to set a safe password (we assumed it was like a hotel safe and didn't know that it uses a key!) Anyways, we ended up locking our stuff in it and were unable to retrieve it, and Morgan asked us to pay for breaking the safe open and replacing the key lost by the previous guests. It was only $15USD, but do be careful so as to not inconvenience Morgan or yourself.
Otherwise, we highly recommend! It's an amazing experience and great value!
I love Morgan's (website hidden)'s really a escaping from the city and into the nature . You could see the charming part of Bali, that many people forget, is to live with Nature. And I like her dog ,it really cute and considering. At first ,I felt a little uneasy since the door is unlocked , but with the guard of dog,I was relieved. The stay in Morgan's house was a lovely experience, I felt so good to see butterflies and dragonflies swinging in the garden at breakfast .Her house is a charming hideaway, if you want see the beauty of nature.
Our stay in the tree house was just magic, a perfect get away from the hustle and craziness of Kuta! If you want to chill out here is the ideal spot, the tree house is a wonderful place, with fab facilities in a great location! Morgan is a really friendly host, and I will defo be staying here again on my return to Bali
We had a great day at Morgan's house. In the middle of the nature. This house was perfect for our first night in Bali and Morgan was very friendly and give us many informations and advices. We enjoyed our stay !
We were excited to experience the "magic" of this place, but were left quite disappointed. The photos aren't as accurately depicted, the place looked like it needed more maintenance. Certain windows and doors did not work/shut properly. It was hard to fall asleep at night— the air-con wasn't working properly, it got unbearingly stuffy. The place did sometimes look a little magical in the day but sadly we, as city dwellers, weren't as comfortable as we hoped to be. That being said, a disclaimer is that we probably had too high hopes of a magical villa escape. If you're looking for an authentic balinese experience and living with nature, this will be the perfect place for you. You will be bathing in an outdoors shower that is located downstairs, this was an interesting experience, be prepared to bathe with spiders and left-over cobwebs, and make sure you don't need to pee at night! Location is not bad— it is near enough popular cafes like Deus and Betelnut, a short ride away from Echo Beach, Batu Bolong, but you won't be able to walk anywhere so you'd need to rent a scooter from Morgan. We hardly saw Morgan but she was warm and friendly when we did, and her dogs actually made us feel a lot more comfortable and safe whenever they were around. We left a day early because we really couldn't sleep properly and wanted to explore more of Bali, there are limited activities in the area that this villa is located. Overall, we would not return here, but only probably because we now know that we prefer a kind of comfort that we are used to.
