The Space

This 1950's cottage is a fresh version of Old Tahoe. Comfortable, relaxed and fun on a large sunny, 1 acre, private lot.

The house is 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. 1 bedroom has a king bed, 1 bedroom has a queen bed and the 3rd bedroom has 2 sets of twin bunk beds. The living room has a fold out sofa.

Guest Access

Large private yard, lots of parking, 7 person hot tub, gas BBQ, towels, board games, wifi, Apple TV, cable, DVD, ipod dock boombox (iphone/ipod 4 compatible) outfitted kitchen (waffle maker, crock pot, coffee maker, coffee grinder, mixer blender, serving platters, wine glasses, regular dish ware plus 16 large dinner plates, etc), firewood (in the winter), DVD's, w/d, clawfoot bathtub, snow removal, X-Box in the bunk room (sorry, no games but they can be rented at Video Stop in Tahoe City).

The Neighborhood

Neighborhood is on the Westshore, behind the Catholic church. It is walk to Tahoe City and Sunnyside in the summer. It's close to mountain biking trails and the bike path. In the winter, easy access to Homewood, Squaw and Alpine and a quick drive to Tahoe City. Property is secluded and located on almost an acre.

  • The house was clean on arrival and the description on property lived up to our expectations. We had three wonderful days in the house and Lake Tahoe is a beautiful destination. We give our best recommendations!
Ps the hot tub is still not working . It didn't get warm. (Quentin tried ;-))

  • We had an amazing week in Tahoe and the house was perfect for our two families with young kids! A short drive to Tahoe City, and relatively close to Meeks Bay and Squaw Valley, there was no shortage of kid friendly activities for our 2-6 yo crew. In the afternoon, the lawn was perfect for running and playing when we wanted to keep things low key. Sunny side is just down the road, so awesome for dinner on the deck or renting 'water toys'! Shannon and Quentin were great hosts who were available when we needed anything and very helpful in directing us to the best local spots. Thanks again and we can't wait to come back!

  • Shannon and Quentin's cottage is everything I wanted, and then some. It was cute and woodsy, and excellently decorated. The lawn is gorgeous, the kitchen well stocked, and the hot tub was hot. We even saw a bear from the porch!

We took advantage of the fact that it's a 5 minute drive to Tahoe City to go river rafting and grab coffee.

Quentin came by to show me how to use the hot tub, and came back to drop off extra trash bags. He was very sweet, and Shannon gave great directions as to how to get to the cabin.

The only thing I would change would be to stay longer!

  • This cottage was a beautiful place to spend memorial day weekend for our group of college friends. It had everything we needed- a big kitchen, a lot of space, plenty of parking, a big yard for playing catch and football, a barbecue, and a hot tub. The home was far more beautiful than most places I've stayed in Tahoe and there were a lot of smaller details that really made this place great- a big selection of DVDs, tons of wine glasses, beautiful interior decor, extra bedding and towels, and instructions for every imaginable thing. I would love to come back to the same place in the future.

Shannon and Quentin are very easy to work with and super willing to help you out. I texted them a few times during my stay asking questions, and they responded promptly and kindly.

The house is less than a 5 minute drive to Commons Beach and Safeway, so it's super convenient.

I honestly could not have asked for anything more in our stay. The house was great, Shannon and Quentin were great, and the lake was gorgeous. I 100% recommend this house.

  • Shannon & Quentin Barter's home is beautiful, well maintained, cozy and very comfortable. We were 6 people in total with kids and the house (+ yard & hot tub) was perfect for our mini-vacation at Tahoe. Shannon & Quentin were very responsive hosts, but we hardly needed to contact them since everything was so well organized. Check-in, check out procedures are very clearly outlined in a binder. I loved the personal "welcome" note. Nice touch! We will definitely rent this property again & would highly recommend it as well.

  • Shannon and Quentin were very welcoming hosts, were very helpful with tips/directions/nearby restaurants and their cottage was beautiful especially after covered with a fresh batch of snow. Especially enjoyed the hot tub as well as playing in the snow and hanging out in the living room by the warming fire.

  • A beautiful, well equipped little cottage, with easy access to pretty much everything (skiing, the lake, Tahoe City, etc.). We had a fantastic time, great spring skiing as well as walking in the sunshine by the lake. The cottage is very well equipped - a great place for a family break. The kids particularly liked the hot tub!
