A nice tree-lined street with two churches, a community garden, and a mix of commercial and residential properties. The Capitol Mall neighborhood is home to the historic Mill Museum and Willamette Heritage Center a few blocks away. It's a good central location to get to everything in Salem or for easy access to I-5 north or south toward Portland or Eugene. It is seven blocks from the Amtrak station and historic Willamette University, the oldest university west of the Mississippi.
The best way to get around is by car. Salem public transit (bus) is nearby and it is possible to get to Portland by bus. The Amtrak train station is 7 blocks away. The I-5 freeway entrance is 2 miles from the house, with one turn onto Mission Blvd. Coming to the house from downtown, take State Street past the Capitol to 19th Street and turn right, drive 5 blocks and you are "home" - welcome!
This is a cozy, clean, warm house with a thoughtful, interesting host. Comfortable bed, and even a TV and wifi! We really enjoyed our stay and hearing about Sherron's work on her interesting home. In a convenient location to visit Willamette University.
This was just my second airbnb stay and it was very comfortable. It was clean and quiet and just what I needed. Sherron was most accommodating when I was delayed by a friend's hospital emergency. We weren't able to meet in person, but she made everything easy for me. I enjoyed my stay and would return again.
Sherron offered a very comfortable space. Her care, thought, communication and warmth made the experience truly relaxing. I completely enjoyed this time in Salem. It was perfect for my needs.
