Ange's place is perfect and convenient, in a beautiful and friendly town on the North York Moors. It was ideal for our family of four- (two teenagers with us). It was fully equipped for a longer stay. We bought breakfast pastries in the local shop and also made sandwiches to take along for our day. Something to know to make your trip easier--make sure you know exact address and directions before you set out to go there. When we worked on arrival time and final details, our phone/text reception was spotty. The friendly people at the Downe Arms (highly recommend) helped us get in touch with Ange and her son who had been diligently trying to reach us as well. The moors are amazing and Ange has supplied a lot of helpful info about the area, including Whitby. Thanks, Ange!
We had a great stay at Mullein Lodge in Castleton. The cottage is superbly located and it has all you need for a very comfortable stay. My husband and I decided to have a full home-made menu for our break and we found everything we needed in the cottage ... all your pans and pots and utensils. The living space downstairs is shared with the kitchen making it a lovely get-together. Very comfortable sleeping and wonderful shower, very welcome after long walks in the moors. Highly recommend Ange's lodge, you won't be disappointed.
We had a great weekend stay at the lodge. The two storey accommodation was perfect for us. We enjoyed the local pub food and seeing the peacock (not in the billing). Castleton is a perfect gateway to the North York moors. It feels remote, whilst being well connected by rail and road.
I would definitely recommend Ange as a careful host even when she has had a difficult few days.
Just to say thank you for letting us stay in your lovely cottage. It had everything we needed (towels, cutlery, pots and pans etc), which made our stay very comfortable indeed. The cottage itself was very clean and we slept well. The surrounding views are absolutely breathtaking and we were only sorry that we could not stay longer.
The location was very good, as it was just a few minutes walk to the local pub where we enjoyed a drink in the scenic beer garden. The post office was also useful as we could draw out cash over the counter.
We spent the Saturday at a wedding at Danby Castle, so the location was ideal for us as it was about a 15 minute drive to the Castle.
We would recommend the cottage to anyone looking to stay in the North Yorkshre area.
The cottage was lovely and hosts perfect. Flexible and easy arrival / departure. Everything considered in the cottage i.e. Kitchenware, towels, washing-up liquid, hand soap etc.
I would like to stay longer next time and would consider hiring the host's cottage next door and bringing a bigger group. We'd likely bring the dog next time too.
20-30 min drive to whitby. Local area has all basic needs.
Super... Many thanks
À Lovely house in a lovely location, all amenities were available and there is a good finish to the decor. The house was spotless and had a relaxed feel about it.
Ange was a great communicator giving us clear and concise instructions and responding in a timely fashion.
Location wise Whitby is not far by car and there is a pub just down the road!
I would certainly stay here again as felt it was excellent value for money!
