A beachfront paradise for travelers and surfers on a budget, The Hostile Hostel is friendlier than it sounds! Our home is your home, welcome to our big happy house on the beach with plenty of sunshine and lots of good vibes!
NOTE: The AirBnb Calendar does not reflect accurate availability…PLEASE MESSAGE US TO INQUIRE ABOUT AVAILABILITY!!!
The Hostile Hostel is all yours!
Enjoy the sunny and spacious main house with a balcony overlooking the ocean, a big open kitchen and dining area, and some comfy couches to chill on. Downstairs is a separate smaller unit with a large dorm, full bathroom, kitchen and dining and a private entrance.
The grounds are the real beauty of the place though, what are you doing inside anyways!? Have breakfast at the picnic table on the lawn, and drink some coffee in a rocking chair on the patio. Relax and catch some zzzs in the hammocks by the beach, or BBQ and get a little party going in the outdoor kitchen.
Upstairs in the main house we have two 4 person dorms with bunk beds and one semi-private room with two full size beds.
Downstairs you've got one big shared dorm with two full size beds and four twins size beds.
Get the best of both worlds by staying in Aguada where you get a legit Puerto Rican experience, and are just a short 15 minute skip down the road to Rincon aka Expat Central. The pad is located walking distance to Table Rock, a world class surf spot, and right in the thick of the wave action along the west coast of the island. Also walking distance to the beachfront bar scene, muy importante. Waterfalls, hiking, cavern systems, scuba diving, snorkeling... everything is within reach of an awesome day trip right from the hostel.
Not sold yet? Well, when you stay at The Hostel Hostel you'll have access to all our playa toys when you want to kick it at the casa- slackline, hammocks, outdoor gas grills, an outdoor shower and other general awesomeness.
Your hostel stay includes a free Waffle bar breakfast with coffee and tea, and the waffles are GOOOOOOOD.
We'll be onsite during your stay, and are most definitely the hostesses with the mostesses you'll find on the island. We can hook you up with everything you need including Jeep rentals, surf schools, surfboard and paddleboard rentals, waterfall tours, jungle eco tours, THE WORKS.
The Hostile Hostel is situated right in the middle of Puerto Rican paradise, our hood is quiet (but we don't have to be!), and within on-the-beach walking distance to Aguada's beachfront bar scene. It's safe, it's fun, and it's epically beautiful.
The hostel grounds have enough gated parking space for about 8 cars, depending on size. Secure street parking is right out front.
The downside to Puerto Rico in general is the lack of public transportation AND taxis, so you pretty much need a car to cruise around. But the upside is that you're saving a grip of money when you stay at The Hostile Hostel- so you can afford a rental.
PLEASE NOTE WE ARE A DOG FRIENDLY HOSTEL! THERE WILL BE DOGS ON THE PREMISES!
This was such an amazing place to stay. I spent almost a week with them and couldn't be happier! Sara and Laura are amazing people with huge hearts! The place is beautiful and all the guests were so friendly and nice. I would highly recommend staying here. Great way to learn the island and see everything Puerto Rico has to offer. Their beach front is gorgeous and secluded. Spent several nights on the beach watching the sunset right in front of the hostel. Oh and the waffles are great! Shout out to Leo, the happiest, three legged dog I've ever met.
I don't believe this is par for the course, but because of some kind of behind-the-scenes issue there was no one around to check me in, and no instructions left for me. It was stressful after an overnight flight, but I don't think it's usually that way.
Otherwise, a great place for the price! Comfy beds, clean space, and exactly the kind of people you'd (email hidden) hostel. And the beach was, of course, simply magical.
First of all, Sara and Laura are amazing hosts. They really make you feel like their hostel is your house and treat you like a long time friend more than a guest. They're always around and available to help you out. I lost count of how many times we ALL went out for drinks, food and funs. By all I mean both the hosts and all of the hostel guests. During my stay, the hostel was pretty much booked...but somehow it didn't feel like it. We all got along so well that it felt like you were staying at a beach house with like 15 friends from all over the world.
I stayed at a semi-private room that was comfy, neat and you could see/hear the waves clashing against the shore at all times. Something that I missed since I was born and raised in PR, but currently live in NY.
The location is great but you still need to rent a car to move around. You can't rely on PR's public transportation system in that area. Plus you'll move around faster if you rent a car. Rincón and Aguadilla are pretty close if you want to go out surfing.
No one there will judge you if you have AWESOME FREE WAFFLES and a Medalla for breakfast. It is ok to continue drinking Medallas through out the day and then go out and stuff yourself with pinchos and empanadillas and drink some more Medalla.
This place is the best deal you'll get in the area. Book it!
Sara & Laura are awesome hosts that create a very inviting environment!
I cannot recommend enough for the Hostile Hostel. Beautiful mansion-like hostel right on the beach, fun/friendly hosts you will ever meet, (I miss you Sara and Laura!) a great community of travelers from everywhere in the world. I spent 6 days out of 10 day Puerto Rico travel because I just couldn't leave this place. If you are ever in west Puerto Rico, don't miss the opportunity to miss this gem.
Awesome place! Right on the water! Wish i could have stayed longer.
Sara picked me up and even stopped off at the supermarket on the way back for me. Beautiful place, amazing location. Thanks again ladies! Good luck!
As my first hostel experience, it surpassed all expectations. Sarah was a great hostess, very responsive before and she greeted us warmly on arrival even though weather delayed our arrival til 2am.
The hostel was filled with a diverse, friendly group of couples and a few solo travellers from Munich, Montreal, NYC, and Australia. We enjoyed interesting conversations with our fellow guests over coffee on the 2d floor balcony (great view of waves and palm trees) or playing cards in the evening. There were always some people around but it didn't feel crowded as most were off surfing or enjoying other diversions.
Sarah was a valuable local guide, connecting us with an experienced surf instructor when conditions were right and other local info.
This is a hostel after all , so don't expect a private room. Nevertheless, our room was great. It was like a small den, quiet and dark and peaceful. We slept great.
We were just there two nights before moving on to another place (non-hostel). We miss the lively, communal atmosphere at Hostile Hostel, and plan to stop by there again on our trip.
We often stay in hostels during our travels around the world, but we can honestly say this has been our favorite spot! The hosts Sara and Laura were awesome. We were only there for 2 days and wished it was longer, we will definitely be back!
Can't say enough about these girls who have created the place you want to visit. Awesome location with sandy beach right out the back yard, most friendly host you'll every meet with enough knowledge and enthusiasm to rival the best concierge while staying in a clean and comfortable environment. Don't miss the opportunity to stay here in Aguada, PR
