About this listing
We have a comfortable two-bedroom, open plan apartment in beautiful, scenic West Cork. It's attractively located within one mile of the popular fishing village and yachting centre of Schull. It is ideal for either one or two guests.
The apartment is attached to our home, but has its' own entrance, access and parking space. We are also regular house exchangers, so our apartment is available unless we have exchange guests or family staying.
Amenities include a modern shower, an open plan kitchen which is lovely and airy in summer and modern kitchen appliances including electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, washing machine and tumble dryer. Towels and linen are provided for all our guests. There is also immediate access to a large garden with beautiful views of Schull harbour and nearby Mount Gabriel.
Schull is on the Wild Atlantic Way and it's a vibrant and popular place for visitors all year round. Sailing, boat trips, pony trekking, sandy beaches, diving, golf and the only Planetarium in the Republic of Ireland are among the many local attractions on offer, while Schull has recently acquired an open-air gym which is great fun and good for the waistline too.
Other possibilities in the West Cork area include beautiful coastal walks, hill-walking, bird-watching and whale watching. Schull village is small and picturesque and has supermarkets, friendly pubs with regular music, good craft shops, a post office and ATM facilities. Local people are hospitable and kind. There is a twice daily bus service to Cork city, but a car is recommended to enjoy the best of this beautiful area.
No smoking inside the apartment, but guests are welcome to smoke outside.
About the Host, Ann
I'm retired, with family having flown the nest, though they return from time to time. I live with my partner who works from home.
We love to travel and often exchange homes, especially in and around Europe. Favourite places include Berlin (we have spent a lot of time there), Venice, Gibraltar, Paris, London, Bruges and, of course, all of beautiful Ireland. We love reading, eating out (West Cork has an embarrassment of great restaurants and fresh produce) and detective dramas on TV.
We are easy-going and friendly couple who enjoy meeting people and experiencing different cultures.
