About this listing
Family, Couples, Friends: Beach + Wine Country. Forget motels and B&Bs, here's your own, full-equipped NYC-style 3BR/2B, 4500sf Loft: huge LR, prof kitchen, beautiful farm views, secluded backyard, mod appliances, a/v system, parking, full privacy.
The New York TImes Real Estate Section on Sunday, Feb. 9th, 2014, talked about the multi-million dollar homes being built in the Hamptons. The article said, "The look of the homes is evolving: modern is making a comeback, but modern in the guise of barnlike. 'The modern barn is the Hampton equivalent of a Tribeca loft.'"
This unique modern, open loft space is perfect for cooking, entertainment, and just relaxing indoors or out. Located smack in the middle of Long Island wine country, nestled between three of the finest vineyards on the North Fork and across the street from the best and most fully-stocked farm stand on Long Island.
We have been told -- without exception -- that the pictures do not do the Loft justice. (I did the best I could, but you are welcome to come see for yourself.)
Full access to all apartment, including fully appointed kitchen, barbeque, fully stocked with wine glasses, china, etc. Easy and quick access to both Sound and Bay beaches. Near Love Lane, which boasts true gourmet shops, and the Mattituck Shopping Center with supermarket, drug, and snack shops, as well as a Cineplex with 8 screens. All amenities are accessible, including cable TV, Wi-Fi, music system, kitchen appliances and accessories, washer/dryer, etc. A housekeeper and groundskeeper are available for special requests, as are the owners, who live nearby. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets; we have guests with allergies who cannot tolerate even traces of dander, etc. So sorry.
We will make every effort to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We love the North Fork and want you to as well.
Interaction with Guests
Happy to guide guests on what to see and do on the North Fork. We will greet guests on arrival and familiarize them with the area and the apartment. We have learned from our guests that they truly appreciate the layout which allows them to congregate and enjoy each other's company as a group. They have also told us that the rates per person compare very favorably to motels and hotel chains, but the atmosphere and amenities are beyond comparison in the area.
Mattituck is right in the center of the North Fork, equidistant from the Tanger's Mall on the one hand, and charming Greenport on the other. It is in the heart of the North Fork Wine Country (Bedell Cellars, Corey Creek, Lenz, etc.) as well as the finest farms and produce vendors (Sang Lee, Satur Farms, etc.) There are magnificent beaches on both the Sound and Bay sides that are peaceful and never crowded. Marinas abound where you can park or rent boats and watercraft, or you can partake in the "agritainment" on nearby farms for Pumpkin Picking, Hayrides, Night Mazes, and more.
The North Fork has might stricter zoning than the South Fork, as well as much more protected land, so you will experience true farmland and vineyards, vs. developments and overpopulation. Here is where city meets country, modern meets rustic, casual meets elegant, beach meets country.. the North Fork Loft is truly the best of both worlds.
There isn't too much local transport, although the Jitney and trains that service the North Fork make it easy to get here. There are several car rental offices. Bicyclists have made the North Fork a prime touring location, and many bicycle and motorcycle groups can be seen regularly enjoying the smooth roads and enthralling landscape.
Other Things to Note
Each of the towns on the North Fork has its own charm, and all are within a stone's throw. Greenport, a fishing village, retains its charm with great seafood restaurants, massive docks with tall ships, yachts and private vessels, plus seaside attractions (ex., Preston's, Claudio's, Scrimshaw, etc.) and many fascinating shops.
Orient Point has its magic, secluded charm, and Southold, Aquebogue and Laurel each hold special places to visit.
The Greenport Ferry offers a ten minute ride to Shelter Island, and the Orient Ferry takes one hour to reach Connecticut. But chances are, once you're on the North Fork, you won't want to leave.
Very relaxed. We do prefer non-smoking, although on the deck and in the backyard are fine. We ask guests to separate their garbage into recycle and regular, leave the towels and sheets on the floor, and to run the dishwasher before you leave.
NOTE: The Town now requires that a short term rental be a minimum of 14 days.
New York City Native who has totally embraced the country/beach flavor of the North Fork without losing my urban sensibility for quality and design ingrained while growing up in Manhattan. Our North Fork Loft integrates a huge, city loft sensibility with a country kitchen flavor to create a unique, warm living space. Home Theater, Designer Furniture, Gourmet Kitchen, Modern Art and Broadband Access meets Country Widebeam Floors, Restoration Hardware Bathrooms, and super comforter armchairs and sofas for a country at-home feeling. So far, our guests have been thrilled to have found this attention to detail and style in the country.
We hope you will be, too.
P.S. Airbnb suggests we tell you about the 5 things we can't live without: books, movies, shows, music, food. Well, you won't live without them either at the Loft: There's a huge library (lots of hard-boiled mysteries), great movies (more indies, less blockbusters, but there's always VOD), great Home Theater set-up for TV and music, and a 60 ft. kitchen with brand new, high-end appliances and eat-in island. For a show, you might have to go to the local theater troupe performing at the nearby church, or to the local movie multiplex. But we doubt you'll leave home very often. (May we shouldn't mention the nearby Tanger Mall Outlet Stores!) Enjoy.
Airbnb also asks about our style of travel: We have almost exclusively switched to villa or apt. rentals. We feel so much more a part of the locale, enjoy travelling with close friends, and appreciate the sensibility of talented home owners much more than the hotel operators. Hope you feel the same.
Life Motto: Hadn't give it much thought, but probably would be, "Go For It.."
