Interaction with Guests
★★★ ABOUT ME, YOUR HOST ★★★
Hi, I'm Mark! I live in the other bedroom in the apartment, and I'm at home most days working. I'll be around in the evenings cooking, watching movies, and chilling out. And I do love to chat! Have you been travelling? Tell me about it!
I'm more than partial to bike rides and afternoons of yoga and Frisbee in the park so if you're about I'd love you to join me. And if you're here over the weekend then who knows, we may even get to go out on the town!
Also, I've been living in Osaka for ten years and I speak Japanese fluently. I've had tonnes of family and friends over to visit so I've been all over from Hokkaido to Okinawa more times than I can count. I know the best tourist spots all over Japan, and I also have my own special favourite sites, restaurants, and tips which I'm happy to share. If you need any help organising your trip, I'm your man!
★★★ THE NEIGHBOURHOOD ★★★
Set in the middle of Sakaisuji-Hommachi business district, Kawara-machi is perfectly located between both of the main entertainment centres of Osaka and several stunning parks, including Osaka castle, arguably the most popular tourist site in Japan.
Time to the nearest...

= Convenience store - 1 minute walking
= Large supermarket - 10 minutes walking
★★★ TRANSPORT ★★★
There are three subway stations within a 10 minute walk of the apartment, and easy access to the main train lines heading out of the city to the various other stops on your itinerary. Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Wakayama, Hiroshima, Tokyo...
Closest subway stations...
= Sakaisuji-Hommachi - 6 minutes
= Kitahama - 8 minutes
= Hommachi - 10 minutes
= Shinsaibashi - 10 minutes by subway
= Namba - 10 minutes by subway
= Umeda - 15 minutes by subway
= Osaka Castle - 15 minutes walking
= ShinOsaka (for bullet trains) - 25 mins by subway
= USJ - 30 minutes by train
= Nara - 50 minutes by train
= Kyoto - 1 hour by train

For the more adventurous I can also lend out bikes for travel within the city. You can easily bike to the main shopping and tourist attractions in only 15 minutes. And I can even hook you up with biking tours of the city if you fancy checking out some sights.
Easy bike access is something Tokyo lacks, and nothing screams Osaka quite like riding about the city on a shopping bike!
Other Things to Note
★★★ FAQ ★★★
Q. Since I will have the trip on my own, is the location of your accommodation safe for a single lady?
A. Yes, the area where apartment is situated is very safe. It is called Sakaisuji-Hommachi. It is an up-market neighbourhood, and single women often walk around to and from their apartments, workplaces and the subway station.
My apartment is 100m from the main road, and only a five minute walk from the subway station. It is in the middle of the business district, so during the day time there are a lot of office workers around. It's actually quite busy! During the night it is much quieter, mostly there are office workers and couples visiting the many restaurants found in the area.
To give you an idea of the local atmosphere, my girlfriend often comes to my apartment alone, in the late at night, and sometimes drunk!
The apartment has a gate and front door. The apartment building has security cameras in the lifts and entrance area, and an auto-lock system on the main entrance. No non-residents can enter the building.
I think you will find staying in my apartment in Sakaisuji-Hommachi to be convenient, relaxing and safe.
Q. Will there be other guests share the accommodation at a time?
A. During your stay you will be the only guest staying in my apartment with me. Your room is private and you will have your own key, so you can come and go as you please.

★★★ HOUSE RULES ★★★
You are free to treat the apartment like your own home when you are inside, but we please ask that you are quiet; very, very quiet outside the apartment. In Japan it is extremely bad manners to disturb people in their houses.
= Please keep as close to silent as possible in the courtyard, lobby, elevator and public halls.
= No waiting in the halls or lobby.
Please either wait in the apartment, or completely outside the building.
= Sorry, but no pets allowed in the building.
= Smoking only on the balconies please.
Just keep the place clean and tidy, and leave it pretty much as you found it, and I'm a happy bunny.
Mark is a good host. fast reply and give us much suggestion to plan our travel. His room looks sweet and warm. We enjoy a good time in Japan.
P.S. If u have a baggage . Maybe try exit 15. Exit 15 has a elevator. It's help you to bring ur baggage.
Hi Ashley! Thanks for your amazing review. I'm glad you enjoyed my lovely pink room :) And thanks for the advice about the station. I will add it to my Wonderland Map for future guests. I'm looking forward to seeing you and your mum next time you come to Osaka. Best regards, Mark
I highly recommend staying with Mark if you find yourself visiting Osaka. We felt right at home here. Mark is such a warm and accommodating host and takes care of his guests. He made sure that we had everything we need for an enjoyable vacation (pocket wifi, directions, and tourist recommendations). The apartment is very nice and spotless and is exactly how it looks in the photos. Location is awesome! There are lots of good places to eat just around the neighborhood and just 5min away on foot to the train station. I'd definitely stay here again when I return to Osaka.
Mark's place is very spacious and clean, it is exactly the same as the photos! We like it very much, we will definitely go to his place again next time when we visit Osaka! Although we did not have much time meeting Mark, we can still feel that he is a very nice guy, we hope we can spend some time going out with him next time. This is a wonderful experience!
I can highly recommend to stay here, if you are travelling to Osaka!
Mark's apartment is absolutely the best choice for travelers. We stayed here for six nights and it's my first experience living in the apartment.
Definitely Mark and Saya are very excellent owners. They are nice and helpful!
Place is very clean and safe. The room was comfortable. The apartment is near the subway and also near the main stations like Shinsaibashi and Umeda.
There are three convenience stores nearby! You can buy all u need there at night.
There is a lovely kitchen where you make your own breakfast, picking from a spread of bread, eggs and milk.
The pocket wifi attracted me a (website hidden) need to worry about the network, it's stable!
We enjoy the stay a lot! Wish to stay there again soon!
Mark and Saya is very friendly.
My brother and Mark had a game at night. haha : )
Mark was very helpful in planning the schedule before leaving Korea. Especially, He recommend look around 'Osaka castle' at the our last day in the morning. It was fantastic :) There is a good place to go from the apartment.
The apartment is cozy and clean, as was seen in the pictures. The sweet smell was filled when we opened the door. I really like the aroma candle. hehe
I miss u, Mark and Saya ~
Thans a lot. :)
My experience at Mark's place was beyond my expectations! He and Saya are truly hospitable hosts and the kindest of people. The space was always clean with a warm and cozy energy. Saya always took care to light candles and prepare the space, it seemed, for my arrival. I was able to enjoy a great sushi dinner with Saya. So gracious of her to entertain me on my first night! The neighborhood is a sweet little gem with a number of truly awesome discoveries to be found. Mark is extremely organized, communicates very well and is beyond prepared in creating a comfortable experience for his guests. There is always coffee and breakfast available to be enjoyed. He also went out of his way to inquire about a couple reservations for me, as he is fluent in Japanese. All in all, I enjoyed my stay in every way. No need to look further, this is the spot!
Mark was a fantastic host - in fact, he was more like a friend than a host. He responds to emails (and ALL of my emails) very quickly and informatively, and provided seemless instructions on how to get to his place. He was enthusiastic and very friendly, even offering to meet us at the station and taking us out to a comedy night with his friends. He had endless tips on traveling around Japan and quickly helped us feel like locals in his neighborhood. Apartment was within walking distance of the subway and very clean. He even offered us complimentary bread, milk and tea/coffee. Best of all, he even replied to emails about questions we had about traveling Japan after we had left his apartment. As a host he is a 15/10. Would definitely recommend!
