About this listing

Treat yourself to a getaway in a newly-built, luxury in private setting. Nestled between two lush, green rice patties, indigenous trees, and beautiful tropical landscaping, this is a paradise within a paradise.

The spacious studio features a king size bed, open air shower, and kitchen with a beautiful deep grey local stone bar. Sliding glass doors provide warm lighting and from the rooftop balcony you can enjoy the sunset over the Petanu river.

The villa is located in East Ubud's Kemenuh village, with it's scenic landscapes, master craftsmen, and local culture. It's close enough to drop into Ubud to enjoy a meal, show or class, but just far enough to feel you've escaped the tourist crowds. It's 5 menit to kemenuh waterfall and only 15 menit to monkey forest and ubud traditional market.

I live with my family just down the street and can take you for a local bicycle tour, or teach you the art of fine wood carving honed by my family for generations.

Interaction with Guests

We are available to assist you with whatever you may need during your stay. We can assist you with renting scooters or a car with a driver to tour around Ubud and the surrounding areas. We will make you feel welcome to community village life in kemenuh, inviting you to local ceremonies if they are on, to try your hand at wood carving or simply give you directions to explore the village on foot.

Other Things to Note

POWER CUTS / WATER CUTS
Occasionally, there are power and/or water cuts. We apologize for any inconvenience, this is due to the shortage of electricity/water in the island. It's only happened once at my house.

IDENTITY DOCUMENTS: Please give the staff a Photocopy of your passport (or the house keeper) can make one for you if you give her 20,000 Rp ($1.50). We are required to give a photocopy of your Passport to our local Indonesian police.

DISCLAIMER :
Due to the increase of tourism on the island we are sorry to not be able to guarantee complete silence; village life is busy. Noises from ceremonies, roosters, dogs barking, motorbikes are possible and unpredictable and to be expected in Bali outside of a Hyatt or Four Seasons resort property this cannot constitute a valid reason for canceling.

DOs and DON'Ts (here): Alcohol is ok but unless you want to end your life in an Indonesian jail, don't be silly and bring drugs. No crazy parties - but then you wouldn't be choosing Ubud if that's what you are after.
As in any developing country or big city in the world it's always best to keep your valuables, cash, cameras, laptops, etc. on your person at all times. The small wooden joglo bedroom at my house has the most secure western style lock on the front door possible, but keep all valuable possessions with you at all times.

DOs and DON'Ts (temples):If you plan on going to a temple, make sure you bring (or borrow) a sarong and sash, and - if you are a woman - a blouse that at least covers your arms to the elbow. In some temples this is not compulsory, but in all cases, it will show your respect for our local Hindu people's values and beliefs.

House Rules
Check-in is after 1PM

House Rules
Check in after 2pm but before 10 pm on the day of arrival and check out is by noon. The house is normally fully booked. The housekeeper needs the full 2 hours between guests to prepare the house. If you would like to request a late check out contact me several days in advance and i will let you know if it is possible based on if another guest is arriving on your check out day. Perhaps you could leave your luggage at the house if no guests are arriving on your departure day if you are doing a tour. Otherwise, if you are not checked out by 1 p.m. a fee of one night's stay will be charged. If leaving before 9 am, please tell Jaya, the housekeeper, the day before to arrange how to return the key to formally check you out. Please don't take the sheets they are custom-made hotel quality and cost $150 each, don't take the towels or soap (hard to believe I have to mention this but it's common that guests have taken them). If you spill soft drinks, red wine, cranberry juice or tomato sauce on the terrazzo floor please clean it up immediately and tell Jaya because other guests have not and the entire floor in the house has needed to be refinished.

No smoking. No sub leasing allowed. We know the price could be higher but we want it to remain affordable for people who appreciate the design and are eco-conscious.

Hi, I'm Wayan Widnyana. I live in Kemenuh in East Ubud, with my family of wood carvers.

One interesting thing about me is that I worked for 8 years in the US as Japanese Chef! I am happy to be back with my family in Bali and with my beautiful new bride.

I have several different types of accommodation available, from private, luxury villas to rooms in my own home where you can experience the authentic Balinese way of life. Come learn wood carving and Balinese cooking with my family and help prepare for a Saraswati or Galungan ceremony with us. Or take a bicycle ride around our village to see the beautiful rice paddies and Petanu river. Definitely, you will leave with many cherished memories and new friends!

Salamat Datang de Bali!
