The Space

We listed the Bungalow last September and have had wonderful renters this first year. Hard to find a cuter house, in such great shape, with all of these amenities, close to the river and downtown. We are dog-friendly, as is the neighborhood, with one of the best walking trails in town a block away.

Guest Access

We will give you access to a lock box (with a code) with the keys to the front and back doors. Super easy, regardless of when you arrive, to get the keys out of the box (by then you will have the code) and open the back door.

Interaction with Guests

We do not live in Bend, but our daughter lives around the corner if you have trouble with anything. Her partner is a great handyman as well but more important, knows great people who can come quickly with problems. They both know all of the best places to mountain bike, camp and hike.

The Neighborhood

We love the quiet neighborhood. Everyone walks everywhere. Gallaries, restaurants and Mirror Pond are a 10 minutes walk away, along the river and city park.

Getting around

Mountain bike to all of the best trails from the house, onto the river trail as well as the mountain trails just out of town. All streets around here are very bike and walking friendly.

Other Things to Note

This is a friendly, quiet neighborhood so please respect our neighbors. We want to ensure that the Second Street Bungalow is an asset to the neighborhood. Please clean up well after dogs and keep them from barking. And no loud late-night parties, please!

  • What a lovely home! It was the perfect house in the perfect location for my husband, dog, and I to have a few days to ourselves before meeting up with family in Bend. Terrific location within walking distance to downtown, and with super-easy access to a segment of the Deschutes River Trail (great for runs and walking the dog). It had everything we needed, all packaged up in a beautifully-kept bungalow. If we or our friends ever need a space in Bend again, this is the first place we'll look!

    Response from John And Sally:

Thanks Kelly. Our daughter usually does this for us so I haven't ventured into figuring it all out. When we are in town next, I will be sure to learn what's recyclable and how to sort, etc. Thanks for that! Glad you enjoyed Bend!

  • We absolutely loved staying at the bungalow. It was very clean and had all of the amenities that we could ask for. Short walk to the river and downtown area. We will definitely stay here again.

  • We had a wonderful stay in Bend. Loved the location! Took advantage of runs and walks with the dog along the Deschuttes River trail daily and enjoyed the easy access to breweries and restaurants. All was easy and so much fun. Only downside was neighbor who was rototilling and bulldozing 8am to 7pm as they re-do their yard, but we sat outside enjoying the deck and yard anyway!

Thanks, the fans are a great idea! So sorry about the yard work. We just found out about it. In fact it broke some of our sprinkler heads so we are having a bit of work done on that now. So it goes. I hope when you come back the place will be beautiful AND quiet. Sally

  • House was lovely, location was PERFECT and Sally was an extremely communicative host, quick to respond to any questions we had. We enjoyed sitting in the sunshine on both the front and back porches, soaking in the hot tub, and walking to the park from their house. It was hard to leave. Would definitely stay here next time we're in Bend.

  • The Second Street Bungalow was an amazing place to stay in central Bend. We brought our bikes, and the Deschutes River Trail was only two blocks away, and just a few blocks more to Hwy 97.

The home was well appointed, with every appliance you could ask for, as well as being tastefully decorated and quite comfortable. The hot tub was heated and ready when we arrived. This home gave us some ideas on what we would like to do to our own house! Sitting on the front porch in the evening was quiet, with the bonus of a friendly neighborhood cat who came to visit.

As our first AirBnB experience, we were amazed with the ease of everything and the amazing location. We will definitely be back!

  • John and Sally were an absolute delight to communicate with from my original inquiry to the end of my stay. They were very prompt, friendly, and accommodating, in all of our communications. The house was in a perfect location, a quick walk to downtown, as well as close to many west-side restaurants and markets. The neighborhood was quiet and safe, with beautiful flowers and trees to enjoy! The house was clean, cute, and comfortable. It was well furnished and the kitchen had everything I needed to make it feel like home. I would highly recommend this sweet little Bungalow for anyone who is new to Bend, or anyone coming back to visit!!

  • The bungalow was the perfect place for a get together with my pal Marsha and her sweet dog Bella. The house is cute and cozy with a well supplied kitchen. The dogs enjoyed the backyard and we took advantage of the deck to bask in the sun and keep an eye on the pooches. I would certainly rent this place again in the future.

  • This is a great place to stay in Bend! The beds are comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need, and the backyard is great for eating outside and enjoying the hot tub. It's also a very close distance in to town. I highly recommend it!

  • We had a great stay at this place. Sally and John were friendly and welcoming hosts who communicated quickly each time.
The bungalow is wonderful and has nice character. It's cosy and comfortable and is perfect for relaxing. It's in a quiet street not far from central Bend and the Deschutes river. Kitchen is well stocked, beds are comfy, living area is spacious for 4 adults and the shower is good. We used the BBQ on the deck which was a nice bonus. Didn't use the hot tub but it looked clean and welcoming.
Only small issue was that whilst the cleanliness was a good standard, it could have been a little better for us. Don't let that put you off however, this place is great! Thanks guys.

Natural Resources--Forestry and Oceanography
We just bought this house in August and just listed it as a vacation rental! We are so happy to be back in Bend, at least part-time. We are both retired natural resources professionals, currently working as private consultants. Sally works in international forestry and John is an oceanographer. The home in Bend is a block from our daughter who will help us manage the property. We live in Lyons, Colorado, where we hike, mountain bike, telemark ski and road bike, among many other hobbies. We've lived in Bend before, raised our daughter there, so have tons to resources to offer a renter, from restaurants to hikes to great galleries.
