Second Street Bungalow

House - Entire home/apt · Northwest 2nd Street, Bend, OR 97701, United States

Our cute west side two bedroom cottage is just a block from the Deschutes River trail and First Street kayak rapids. It comfortably sleeps four on two queen beds. Large kitchen, gas fireplace, hot tub, fenced yard for dogs, WIFI, cable TV, BBQ, and a short walk to downtown, restaurants, and galleries. During high season (June-Sept) there is a 4 night minimum stay.

The Space

We just listed the property with Airbnb on Sept 15 so have good availability! More pictures just posted on the site. Our first renters are there now so we hope to soon have reviews to post. Hard to find a cuter house, in such great shape, with all of these amenities, close to the river and downtown. We are dog-friendly, as is the neighborhood, with one of the best walking trails in town a block away.

We have a smaller cottage in the back with a bathroom and loft that can be added to the Bungalow if more space/beds are needed. It will support 4 more people.

Guest Access

We will give you access to a lock box (with a code) with the keys to the front and back doors. Super easy, regardless of when you arrive, to get the keys out of the box (by then you will have the code) and open the back door.

Interaction with Guests

We do not live in Bend, but our daughter lives around the corner if you have trouble with anything. Her partner is a great handyman as well but more important, knows great people who can come quickly with problems. They both know all of the best places to mountain bike, camp and hike.

The Neighborhood

We love the quiet neighborhood. Everyone walks everywhere.

Getting around

Mountain bike to all of the best trails from the house, onto the river trail as well as the mountain trails just out of town. All streets around here are very bike and walking friendly.

Other Things to Note

This is a friendly, quiet neighborhood so please respect our neighbors. We want to ensure that the Second Street Bungalow is an asset to the neighborhood. Please clean up well after dogs and keep them from barking. And no loud late-night parties, please!

  • This place is awesome, and Sally and John are great people. Loved it, and will be back. Thanks Sally and John!

  • We had a wonderful time in the bungalow! We found it to have everything we needed for a perfect Girls Getaway. There were five of us, and though we were a bit cozy we were very comfortable. The hot tub was relaxing and well-maintained, the fireplace kept us warm, and the beds were comfortable. The walk to downtown was fairly short. Thanks John and Sally! We will spread the word!

  • My husband and I and our two small dogs stayed for a long weekend in Bend. This house was great! It was nice to have the hot tub and a fenced yard for the dogs. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Sally and John were great to work with and even checked in with us via email during our stay to make sure everything was going well. It is walking distance to downtown, but it is a little bit of a walk. Overall, I would stay here again.

  • The Bungalow was a perfect place for our family of four to have a home away from home. The place had all the amenities you need: the kitchen was great for cooking and the kids could hang out on the bar area on stools while we cooked. The living room was cozy and inviting for reading or playing games...and TV was awesome for movies after the kids went down. And the hot tub was key...not the chlorine type but the no-chemical-smell type.
And Sally and John were great about us adding the bungalito for us when we had last minute guests coming in from Portland to visit us. Thanks!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Second Street Bungalow. The location was great. A quick walk to downtown restaurants and shops and a short drive to Mt. Bachelor for a day of skiing and snowboarding. To top it all off, this house has the most comfortable beds we've ever found in a rental!

  • We spent 1 wonderful week in Bend, OR residing at Sally and John's lovely bungalow. Their home is located in easy walking distance to downtown shops, restaurants, breweries, wine shops, book stores, etc. Actually, the only time we used our car was to go to and from the ski resort (about a 30 minute drive); other than that we walked everywhere. Their home is very comfortable, clean, well organized and well equipped with all the necessary amenities including a hot tub, gas fire place, Smart TV, DVDs, books, maps of the area, etc. Sally and John also were very communicative throughout the whole process and also gave us tips on where to dine and other fun things to do in Bend. We would definitely stay here again!

  • We had an amazing time visiting Bend. The house was so comfortable. It is definitely within walking distance to downtown and in a cute neighborhood. John and Sally made sure to check in upon our arrival to make sure we were well taken care of. The beds were very comfortable and the fireplace made the whole house very warm and cozy. Instructions for checking in and out were a breeze. We spent two days skiing up at Mt. Bachelor and coming home to the hot tub was just what we needed. Bend is an amazing city and it's nice to know that there is an inviting place to stay in the future. We will definitely be back!! John and Sally are great hosts and very easy to get in touch with. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

  • The best vacation rental in Bend. This is my 4th stay at a vacation rental in Bend and I will definitely be back to John and Sally's. They are great hosts with very fast response time. The house is so charming and cozy. Very comfy beds, perfect location, safe, and close to all amenities. The hot tub is wonderful too! Oh, and I forgot my ipad at their rental and was contacted immediately to notify me of my potential loss. Thank you John and Sally, you are perfect hosts!

Natural Resources--Forestry and Oceanography
We just bought this house in August and just listed it as a vacation rental! We are so happy to be back in Bend, at least part-time. We are both retired natural resources professionals, currently working as private consultants. Sally works in international forestry and John is an oceanographer. The home in Bend is a block from our daughter who will help us manage the property. We live in Lyons, Colorado, where we hike, mountain bike, telemark ski and road bike, among many other hobbies. We've lived in Bend before, raised our daughter there, so have tons to resources to offer a renter, from restaurants to hikes to great galleries.
