We love the location and how cozy it is.
It's hilly, so if you are not a seasoned cyclist we recommend a car. Hitch hiking is popular too. There is public transit to within a kilometre of the cabin. As well, there is taxi service and car rentals on island.
Other Things to Note

Clean dishes at the end. If you want to do laundry you will need to bring own detergent. As well please no smoking in the cabin. Thanks.
Our host emailed us before we arrived with instructions on how to enter the cabin. It was secluded but still close enough to Ganges (town) that we had no problem finding it. We actually didn't see our host the entire time but we felt comfortable knowing they were just up the driveway if we needed anything. It was so nice for us to spend our honeymoon in a beautifully decorated, shabby-chic cabin that was private. It was the perfect fit for us and we didn't want to leave!
My husband and I loved the two nights we spent at this lovely cabin with our infant son. It felt extremely private - the main house is along a separate driveway, so you really feel like you have a lot to yourself - had a super comfy bed, and a lovely porch for stargazing. Everything was ready when we arrived so we did not need any assistance from the hosts, who checked in via email when we arrived. I would absolutely recommend staying here - wish we could have stayed a week.
My two sons and I had a wonder time in this peaceful cabin. A well stocked kitchen and great little deck. I would comeback.
After we texted Bruce to let him know we had arrived, he came by quickly and was very friendly. He asked what we were interested in and gave us very good tips for hiking on the island.
This cottage is very simple ... you should know there is no microwave, and the shower is really just a hand held spray that attaches to a post on the tub. However the furniture - love seat and chair in the living area and the bed are all very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. It is very private and has a very warm feel. We were there during an unusual heat wave ... and so without both doors open and the fans on it was pretty hot in the later afternoon - better with the curtains drawn. In cooler weather it would probably be very comfortable.
Very quiet, serene and quaint setting. Enjoyed our stay. The place accommodated the baby's travel crib well too.
This cabin is on a beautiful road close (50 minute walk) to town and Mt Maxwell Park (also walking distance, although not to the must-see summit unless you can really hike) If you stay here you get a deep sense of the beauty of the island and also its culture.
We enjoyed the solitude of Ahappinest. It was close enough to Ganges and everything we wanted to do - and still far enough away for quiet recharging. Perching in the living room or porch and watching the sun shift through the green was meditatively wonderful. Booking and check-in was swift and uncomplicated. We didn't need any extra help, but appreciated knowing it was just down the driveway.
About the Host, Ahappinest
We moved to the island to get closer to nature and raise our family. We want to share Salt Spring with others. What drew us here will probably draw you too: the artists, the alternative lifestyle, the peacefulness, the beauty, the healing, the friendliness. Salt Spring has it all and is arguably the nicest place to live in Canada. Salt Spring is a natural fit for us. We are both healers and this is a healing place. Our healing techniques make a lot more sense right up close to nature. Enjoy any one of our specialties; Acupuncture, Craniosacral Therapy, Rolfing, private yoga or the Alexander Technique.
