We love the location and how cozy it is.
It's hilly, so if you are not a seasoned cyclist we recommend a car. Hitch hiking is popular too. There is public transit to within a kilometre of the cabin. As well, there is taxi service and car rentals on island.

We enjoyed the solitude of Ahappinest. It was close enough to Ganges and everything we wanted to do - and still far enough away for quiet recharging. Perching in the living room or porch and watching the sun shift through the green was meditatively wonderful. Booking and check-in was swift and uncomplicated. We didn't need any extra help, but appreciated knowing it was just down the driveway.
Kathe and Bruce are lovely, considerate hosts. We were glad to have stayed in their genuinely nest-like cabin.
We think the complete experience of Ahappinest depends on the birds who land in it. The cabin is peacefulness itself... the whole space is balanced and serene. Indeed, we fell in love with the pictures, especially what looked like a 2 person soaking tub. In truth, it's more of a heavy duty bath, so I skipped it (my partner enjoyed it, though). He was more critical of the kitchen and space. Although it was cleaned, things weren't clean, exactly (pots, pans, linens), so we didn't live in the space as much as we'd hoped to. That's just to give a full picture of our time there, since we were happy birds above all.
We loved staying at Ahappinest! We spent two and a half days there and never wanted to leave. The fireplace is so toasty on a rainy morning and we just stayed in the super plush bed for most of the day. Bruce was a wonderful host, let us know if we needed anything we could contact him and he would help, but we took advantage of the privacy he gave us, for sure.
The bathroom is incredible, reclaimed windows are beautiful and the woods have that saltspring magical feeling.
We would definitely return and will recommend this little cabin to everyone who needs a little RnR.
A perfect hilltop hideaway with easy access to all that the island has to offer! Wish we could stay longer.
This little hill-top cabin was the perfect getaway spot! It was comfortable, private and peaceful, and the large windows gave lots of light and forest views. It's located close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough away to feel like a real retreat. Kathe and Bruce were very helpful and quick to respond to questions, and the check in and check out processes were very easy. We would definitely stay here again!
Ahappinest was a beautiful little cabin, stocked with everything we needed. We spent time in the sunny living area, on the deck and doing lots of cooking! A really wonderful get-away, and only a short drive to stores and nature.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ahappinest - it's nice, cozy and secluded - a perfect place to have a private getaway to decompress from the busyness of a city life.
We love the windows surrounding almost the whole cabin - let you look out to the trees and enjoy the nature scenery.
Thank you Ahappinest for such a wonderful stay!
About the Host, Ahappinest
We moved to the island to get closer to nature and raise our family. We want to share Salt Spring with others. What drew us here will probably draw you too: the artists, the alternative lifestyle, the peacefulness, the beauty, the healing, the friendliness. Salt Spring has it all and is arguably the nicest place to live in Canada. Salt Spring is a natural fit for us. We are both healers and this is a healing place. Our healing techniques make a lot more sense right up close to nature. Enjoy any one of our specialties; Acupuncture, Craniosacral Therapy, Rolfing, private yoga or the Alexander Technique.
