This comfortable and spacious attic room is a 10 minute walk to the city and a 15 minute walk to the station. Both universities are a quick bus ride away. The mega-shopping centre Meadowhall and the glorious Peak District also very close!
Use the office space, pens, pencils, crayons, ink, chalk, markers, world map, brainstorming paper.....
The space can fit two people comfortably, perhaps even a third small person if you ask us in advance. There is a friendly resident cat, so probably it wouldn't be a great idea to come stay with us if you are allergic to our furry monster.
You can use all of the spaces in the house, just not our bedroom (that would be weird :) ). British terraced houses have only one bathroom, so that would be shared. You are free to use the kitchen as long as you tidy up after yourself. Smokers will be asked to smoke outside. We also have an office area that you can use for work.
Interaction with Guests
We are both postgraduate students and creative freelancers, so we are often out. Yet we seek to stay in touch with our guests at all times if something goes wrong and you cannot figure out the door lock or something. We are always up for cultural exchange, so sharing meals and going down to the local pub is something we are always open to!
Highfield, or Heeley, has a huge community vibe, with community events taking place nearly every day. There is also the Heeley City farm, where you can pet animals, buy fresh produce and eggs, or enjoy a warm homemade meal in the organic/vegan friendly cafe. It's all volunteer run! Concerts, exhibitions, events abound...
There is a bus stop two minutes away with buses running to nearly every corner of Sheffield. If you come by car, there is free on-street parking at the house. The supertram line is also not that far, about a ten minute walk away.
Most often, we just walk into town.
From the nearest airport Sheffield/Doncaster, one must take a bus, then a train to Sheffield, and then walk or take a bus to our house.
From Manchester, there is a direct train into Sheffield, and then you can walk or take a bus to our house.
Other Things to Note
We have a swimming pool! We mean, everyday in England is like a swimming pool. Though we have a few umbrellas, they tend to break easily in the vicious winds, bring your own.
Since we do have a cat, other pets are probably not a good idea. Though if you think your pet is well-behaved enough to be traveling with you, ask us if we can accommodate him/her.
We are vegetarians, but you can cook meat if you clean up well after yourself.
And lastly, we ask our guests treat our house as if it were their own :)
The reservation was canceled 20 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Room was very nice, Don was a lovely host, and we had a very good night's sleep! Short walk into town via the great London Road area. Would stay again.
Martina & Don were so welcoming, friendly and warm.
The house was lovely and spacious, clean and bright.
Perfect location, close to the centre and in a pleasant, quiet area.
We couldn't recommend this stay enough :) Very happy with this experience as it was our first with Airbnb and we had no idea what to expect.
Martina & Don were perfect hosts and we thank you very much for this stay! :)
Lovely house, lovely owners, and a very convenient location! Couldn't fault it!
Don and Martina were excellent hosts who welcomed us into their home. We stayed in the rather spacious attic room, which was exactly how it appears in the picture and was more than adequate for our stay. The house's location is easily within walking distance of the town centre....about 20mins or there are regular buses, though we always walked.
Good place to stay. : ) The hosts are friendly. The house is clean and tidy! We probably will choose to stay there again if we go to sheffield!
We are an easy going couple and been together for over four years. We have a cat and unfortunately for him, we have been travelling a great deal, living in Scotland, Netherlands, Lithuania, Chicago, and now Sheffield. We like learning and practicing languages, exploring new cuisines, reading about the world and its cultures, creating imaginary itineraries that we will take one day, and once in a while we study too. We are always up for a good laugh or an intelligent late-night drink & chat. Looking forward to meeting you!
