About this listing
This garden flat is located behind vibrant Upper St in a quiet, tree-lined street of Victorian terraces. As well as excellent transport links, enjoy cafes, bars, theatres, cinemas and quirky shops from designer to retro/antiques/bric-a-brac.
The flat is roomy and comfortable. The interior is a mixture of contemporary and antique designs. A real benefit is its excellent location. It's equidistant between Angel and Highbury & Islington underground (5-7 mins walk each), with buses taking you in all directions.
There is a TV in the room with all the channels (Sky Sports, Movies, etc) and Wifi. There is plenty of space with a desk and a wardrobe. Help yourselves to tea and coffee (there is a kettle in the room). Enjoy the garden if you wish. There is a shared bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
I will give you as much help and guidance as you need and will gladly share stories over a glass of wine or coffee if you would like. I've lived in the area for ten years. My partner and I are around either during the day or in the evenings. My family sometimes comes to stay but there is plenty of space.
This is a really lively neighbourhood with loads of cafes, bars and restaurants serving food from around the globe. You also have a world-class theatre across the road, the Almeida, and Sadler's Wells Theatre, the world's number one venue dedicated to international dance. I love the fact that this is such a central location, and the transport links are so convenient. The area also looks great - the architecture (just glance above the shops), the Georgian and Victorian squares and terraces, Islington Green and Highbury Fields - oh and the canal!
Public transport links are really good. We're in zones 1 (Angel) and 2 (Highbury & Islington).
From Heathrow: Piccadilly Line to Kings Cross and change to the Northern Line one stop to Angel (Bank branch) OR change at Green Park and pick up the Victoria Line to Highbury & Islington.
From Gatwick: take the train to Victoria and hop on the Victoria Line to Highbury & Islington.
You can travel west to Oxford St on the Victoria line in 15 minutes, or take the overground east to Stratford, also in around 15 minutes. I take the bus everywhere, and there are buses 2 minutes away from the flat. We're also very close to the City and I walk to and from work every day, near St Paul's Cathedral, which takes me 35 minutes.

Camilla was an absolute dream to stay with! The apartment was just as lovely as it appears in the pictures, and the bed was amazingly comfortable. Camilla was so welcoming, and really looked after us. She offered help on getting to where we needed to go, and gave us a lovely breakfast of coffee and toast in the morning. The location was perfect; just a stones throw from the super shops and cafes on Upper Street. It was a shame we had to head off when we did, as I could have stayed and chatted all day! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Camilla and her beautiful home as a place to stay. I hope we can stay again someday!
This was a wonderful place to stay - beautiful interior, convenient location combined with a warm and gracious host. The bedroom was large and comfortable, and the bed was outstanding - something you'd expect in a 5-star hotel. It was a nice neighborhood too - safe and trendy (fun cafes and shops) without being too touristy. I also appreciated how helpful Camilla was in navigating the city, and suggestions for where to go/what to see. A great experience overall.
Camilla is marvellous, she is caring, thoughtful and one feels as if one is visiting a family member. I was glad I have returned for another visit. She got up early and looked after me with fresh coffee, and home made bread toast before I trot off on my wanderings around London. She is always available with info and tips. I love the room, it is super cosy, and so unusual with that fabulous large light shade and other little design details. If you are so lucky as to be in London when it is warm, hopefully you would also be lucky to sit with a glass of vino in Camilla's stunning garden.
We loved the room. Everything was just as pictured and exceptionally clean and comfortable. The apartment was beautifully designed and a wonderful place to stay. Camilla was very welcoming and helpful. She went above and beyond and had water and tea for us in the room. We also got to spend some time chatting with her and learning more about London. The neighborhood was also lovely and had a lot of great shopping and nice restaurants. I would fully recommend this spot!
Thank you very much Camilla for having us in your home. You worried about us and our needs much more than your average hotel would!
Your home was perfectly placed for us, being close to Union Chapel (one of my favourite live music venues) as well as easy to get to from Euston (Angel tube) & the amazingly fast Victoria Line at Highbury & Islington.
The recommendation for breakfast at The Blue Legume was a good one: croque monsieur & coffee for £6.
Your home is great & I like your taste. Perhaps we'll see you again for our next foray to the Big Smoke!
Nice room, great location for walking everywhere for breakfast/drinks/dinner n to heaps of transport links. Very friendly, generous and (so Englishly) apologetically welcoming Camilla. Good to have a kitchen to breakfast in each morning too.

About the Host, Camilla
I live with my partner in our lovely apartment in Islington. Sometimes my family comes to stay while I have guests and they tend to be more popular than me! I practise a Japanese form of Buddhism with SGI-UK, which is a powerful philosophy of optimism. I appreciate good food and drink and enjoy cooking and baking. I love Georgian and Victorian properties - Islington has lots - and my favourite style of interior is contemporary Scandinavian design. As a host, I am confident that guests will be very comfortable. One of my life mottos - I have a few - is simply 'be yourself'.
