Other Things to Note
Private entry through a garage side door. Not glamorous, but clean, private and suitable.
Parking allowed on the street in front of house.
no smoking inside, no pets.
We also like to leave our shoes by the door and just go barefoot or wear slippers inside.
This keeps everything nice and clean.
This was a great place , Susan and Lenny were very helpful.
Perfectly situated home in a picture perfect neighborhood.
They welcomed us, showed us around, answered any questions we had, we drove a classic 1971 cutlass down, they even gave us the driveway for our car, ha.
Its close to some great eating places and the beaches.
Thank you for having us in your home.
Beth and Max
Su and Lenny are wonderful. Easy to talk with, interesting artists, helpful with local information, and totally responsive to requests. A small refrigerator in our room (not in the garage), beach chairs and an umbrella, a great location, and current local magazines all contributed to a very pleasant stay. Entering through the garage was not an issue and we detected none of the odors some prior guests complained about. The rooms were immaculate, the grounds lovely, the bed comfortable, and everything worked, except for a spotty wi-fi.
Location was nice, a short drive to the downtown, the beaches and the ballpark.
Property was secluded and private, especially the backyard with the pool and tropical gardens.
Su &Len were attentive hosts and we did not want for a thing during our stay. Thank you so much! We'll see you again next year!
Susan and her husband Len are very comfortable, friendly hosts. The B&B quarters are set up as a private extension of their home with a large deck area near the pool, a sun room, large living room and a good-sized bedroom (queen bed) and bathroom with shower. A private/secure outside entrance leads to the guest rooms. The private yard is well maintained by Len's gardening talents and the salt-water pool was welcome on a warm March stay. Susan is an artist and their home and B&B areas feature an eclectic mix of art, antiques and comfortable furniture along with two HD TVs and a large variety of channels. The rooms and yard were clean and well kept. Morning conversation was fun and easy as we talked about both couples travel experiences. Well worth the rate charged and near several walkable or short drive cafes and stores in a safe, quiet and upscale neighborhood near Selby Gardens and Burns Square restaurants.
Susan was busy with an art show for this weekend so her husband Lenny was doing the hosting. He served us breakfast every morning of Bagel, Orange Juice, and Coffee at 8:30 AM. The backyard garden is beautiful and tranquil and private with a high fence.
It was nice to have the bedroom, living room, and sun porch in which to relax, and access to a full fridge in the garage, as well as microwave in the room. The neighborhood is peaceful and 15 minute walk to Hillview St. for lots of restaurants. We enjoyed Gecko's and Southside Deli.
The location is very central in Sarasota, and it was easy to get to the sights, eg Sat. Farmer's Market, and Ringling Art Museum. We enjoyed our homey stay.
We have previously had very good experiences using B&B accommodation in NZ, Australia & Europe and chose this one based on the information provided on the website. Sadly it did not live up to expectations. We were on the whole very disappointed with our stay and felt we had paid considerably more than we should have for what was actually provided.
The entrance to the guest accommodation is through the garage directly into the bedroom. This has been cleverly photographed to appear much nicer than it is. There is a pervading odour of the garage in the bedroom. It really cannot be considered "guest" accommodation, but more a spare room as there is very little storage space and does not have any facilities to make a hot drink.
Breakfast was very poor. At 8.30 precisely whether we were ready or not a cup of coffee and a single bagel with cream cheese were served every day! Towards the end of our week stay we were asked by Lenny to let him know if we needed any thing, we felt this was a token gesture as up until this point interaction with our hosts had been minimal. The situation was uncomfortable and embarrassing from our point of view as it was after we had overheard a heated discussion about the review left by the previous guest, who had made similar comments. It was clear from this conversation that our hostess was not willing to take on board any criticism so we felt to make any request was a pointless exercise. There was little or no information about the area or places to visit or eat etc.
If you invite a paying guest into your home the onus is surely on the host to ensure that the guest has what they need not the reverse.
In the end we couldn't wait to leave!
So sorry and surprised you had such an unpleasant experience. Never would have known as It was never expressed during your stay. We try our best to please our guests, but it is a room on our house, as stated. we don't povide a full breakfast
( also stated in the description )....many airBnb have none! I think you must have missed the folder on the desk with many brochures and maps. pictures are accurate, I don't do photoshop.
Susan and Lenny were very welcoming and helpful. Lenny drew me a map of the immediate neighborhood and got the DVD player to work for me. Susan provided information about nearby supermarkets and the laundromat. The location was good but downtown and commercial areas were not really within comfortable walking distance.
Sitting outside in the garden in the sun was the highlight of the accommdation. The living room and sunroom were spacious and clean. The bathroom was fine. The bedroom was the place for improvement. There were too many cluttering furnishings around the walls not intended for guest use. I was able to use the fridge in the garage. There was a small microwave, but my food items had to perch atop the stereo equipment. There was no hot plate (not that one was advertized, but since I was staying for two weeks, I did not plan to eat out so often). The bedroom was generally clean but some surfaces (window sill, bed headboard) were dusty. A more thorough clean and a clear-out of stored furniture would improve the unit. Finally the internet connection was sporadic and was never consistent but Lenny and Susan did try to fix that.
Our internet is now back in full mode....Verizon finally figured out the problem....sorry for that. We do have a hot plate available ( but not usually in use with the space ) if you had mentioned it while you were here, we could have provided it for you. We are always happy to accomadiate the needs of ours guests, please let us know those needs!
