Interaction with Guests
We live on the other side of the house and are usually available mornings for breakfast conversation, as much or as little as wanted.
Our neighborhood is the most desirable in Sarasota. The beautiful and varied architecture of the homes, make it an interesting, eclectic place to walk around. The gardens in the neighborhood are beautiful and the close proximity to Selby Gardens, downtown and the Bayfront, make it the perfect place to live.
Easy walk to most cafes, galleries, etc. There is a bus stop just a block away. Parking on the street is allowed. A taxi or bus can be taken from the airport, or if I'm around I can pick you up!
I also have a bike you may borrow.
no smoking inside, no pets.
We also like to leave our shoes by the door and just go barefoot or wear slippers inside.
This keeps everything nice and clean.
Susan and Lenny were very welcoming and helpful. Lenny drew me a map of the immediate neighborhood and got the DVD player to work for me. Susan provided information about nearby supermarkets and the laundromat. The location was good but downtown and commercial areas were not really within comfortable walking distance.
Sitting outside in the garden in the sun was the highlight of the accommdation. The living room and sunroom were spacious and clean. The bathroom was fine. The bedroom was the place for improvement. There were too many cluttering furnishings around the walls not intended for guest use. I was able to use the fridge in the garage. There was a small microwave, but my food items had to perch atop the stereo equipment. There was no hot plate (not that one was advertized, but since I was staying for two weeks, I did not plan to eat out so often). The bedroom was generally clean but some surfaces (window sill, bed headboard) were dusty. A more thorough clean and a clear-out of stored furniture would improve the unit. Finally the internet connection was sporadic and was never consistent but Lenny and Susan did try to fix that.
Our internet is now back in full mode....Verizon finally figured out the problem....sorry for that. We do have a hot plate available ( but not usually in use with the space ) if you had mentioned it while you were here, we could have provided it for you. We are always happy to accomadiate the needs of ours guests, please let us know those needs!
The bed is extremely comfortable and the location is very quiet – perhaps I should leave it at that.
But I do think it is fair to report to others the reality of what is provided. The bedroom is actually Lenny’s den – fully equipped with elaborate and probably expensive stereo equipment – this leaves precious little space for your own stuff (although you could spread out into the lounge, but that seems like a recipe for stuff getting forgotten). The bedroom/den is connected directly to the garage which is full of more stuff – the waft of wood shavings and lawn mower is not entirely desirable in a bedroom.
There is a microwave, but no coffee maker, no cups/mugs and no drinking glasses – the fridge is in the garage
The somewhat spurious statement that ‘A Gourmet international foodie lives here’ has no bearing on what was an extremely meagre breakfast – a single bagel OR cereal (but milk was in short supply!)
The location is great – a very quiet neighbourhood and easy walking distance to restaurants on Hillview, or even downtown Sarasota.
We had a coffee maker provided, and took it when you requested to have your own blender. Never met you....only your wife. We make every effort to accommodate our guests if communication is made. We also provide drinking glasses etc. whatever requested....again, it takes a bit of communication....we are always here to accomadiate your needs.
We enjoyed out stay in Sarasota in large part due to the convenient location of this B&B and the hospitality of our hosts who provided clean and comfortable accommodations plus a unique perspective on the city. Our space was private yet our hosts, Su and Len, were always accessible and willing to provide information and recommendations when requested. Very nice people, lovely home, beautiful neighborhood.
Had a very nice stay with Susan & Lenny. The house is clean, comfortable & almost feels like staying in an art gallery. So many fun things to look at! We didn't have time to enjoy the backyard & gardens, but they looked beautiful! Would definitely stay again.
Susan stayed up late to let me in and was very nice about it. The rooms were just as described, and so was the neighborhood.
This is a great location and place to stay in Sarasota - a central yet quiet neighborhood. Susan and Lenny are interesting and hospitable. I was very comfortable, felt very welcome, yet also felt private. Thanks for the good experience.
Fantastic! Beautiful and very comfortable accommodations. Pretty much every item in the spacious west wing has a story behind it (which Lenny and Su are happy to share) and the garden is absolutely stunning. This is a great walking neighborhood, very convenient for both downtown Sarasota as well as Southside Village. Couldn't imagine a better spot for a Sarasota stay!
