Denny and his Crew were great hosts. His place is exactly like in the discribtion. He also helped us to book a trip to two temples.
If you are not so good in driving a scooter, like us, it's possible to walk to the center of Ubud (40min.).
There are some Restaurants close to Dennys place (banana leaf, the elephant, cafe vespar) and a big supermarket (15 min walk).
The best thing you can do, have a breakfast at the pool. On the one side you have the view of the pool and big palms and on the other side the green ricefield. You just have to sit down and Denny or one of his staff will bring you everything you need for a good breakfast.
good to know: Its not possible to go there by car. But thats no problem.
All in all: a very good place to stay.
Staying at Rumah Semanggi was one of the best experiences of my trip around the world this year. This place is so peaceful, quiet and beautiful! Denny helped organize all kinds of activities for me like: hiking up the volcano, going to a cultural dance show and taking me on a tour of the local rice fields and waterfall. It was great to sit at the pool and drink fresh juices. Lots of great restaurants, spas and yoga close by. I hope to be able to come back one day!
When we first booked and viewed Denny's place I was a bit confused, he only has 2 hotel rooms, but he does have six apartments as well, and the photo shows one of them by the pool. The hotel rooms are built into the wall of the ravine, with a jungle view and at night nothing but the sounds of nature can be heard (without roosters). I was concerned that there was a musty smell, but Denny assured the room had been shut and once aired would be fine. I expressed these concerns to Airbnb and caused a fair bit of email traffic.
Once we checked in however, the room was delightful, a very good mattress and linens, tastefully decorated bathroom, very good shower. The pool was one of the nicest we've had at a hotel, deep and the landscaping is gorgeous, much has grown since he took his photos. Despite me voicing concerns if we were going to be happy, Denny and his team were extremely hospitable and gracious and all our worries were alleviated. We basically had the pool to ourselves and the mustiness did not return. The room was spotless, and the gardens are manicured. There are lots of extras, a welcome drink, flash light, water, anti-mosquito plug in, towels at the pool.
The drive up to Denny's must be mentioned. It is right out in the rice fields, down an elevated concrete path with open green space on both sides. It makes you feel far away, but it's minutes drive to Bintang and a number of good restaurants.
They run an eco-minded business, solar panels heat the water, and there is a refill station for drinking water. Thumbs up.
One of our best hotels -in the middle of a Rice Field- during our bali-trip. Very supportive and helpful host (pickup, hints about sightseeing, scooter ...) . We enjoyed Yoga with a local teacher in the Morning while the Sun rised
