The Space

We have a lovely and unique style 3 bedroom, 2 "bathroom" and a shower and bath tub deck. The house floors are hardwood and tile. You feel like you are living in a tree house. The kitchen is so big, with 2 complete sinks. There is a washer and dryer in the house. Sorry, no TV. There is high speed internet so bring your laptop and you can download movies!

We are just 2 miles to the ocean and Pohoiki bay for great swimming and surfing. The warm springs, Kapoho tide pools and lots or water activities are a short drive away.

We are on 26 acres and there are a few other homes and cabins on this same property. There is a yoga center just a short walk away where you can sign up for morning yoga class. Pahoa village is 5 miles away with local shopping, farmer's markets, health food stores and great places for lunch and dinner.

There is no public transit to our home. We highly suggest you have a rental car.

There are 2 cats that stay outside.

  • Our stay at the Exotic Pine Cabin was so peaceful and rejuvinating.

We met with Suzette at check-in and ended up not seeing other people for the rest of our stay. The Yoga Oasis is a great place of serenity. If we chose to, we could have joined in on the 2 hour morning yoga sessions (for $10) that they held, but our schedule didn't allow for it this trip. This would have also provided us with an opportunity to meet people, socialize and enjoy the Temple more than we had.

For our particular stay, we really enjoyed being 'away from it all'. The main photo listed is not of the cabin we stayed in - we actually preferred the one that we stayed was set a ways back in the woods amongst the most amazing array of bamboo and dark nights enwrapped in the sounds of nature.

Our cabin had an entire wall of the bathroom that was made of a screen - it was out of this world! The cabin was pretty clean and the bed was comfortable. The hammock on the front 'porch' was such a nice space to hang and relax.

  • This place is one of the most relaxing and beautiful place i have ever visited. The cabin is stunning, exceptionally clean and free from all mosquitoes and creepy crawlers, even though it is in the heart of the jungle. The buildings are all hand made and are stunning. More than adequate netting to enable you to sleep in the very comfortable bed with 100% confidence that you will get a good nights sleep.

The ideal place for quiet, peaceful appreciation of wildlife, meditation and getting away from the rat race. Great position to tour the volcano and lava fields.

The hosts are very kind and polite, a great warm welcome and the cabin was very well presented. I really wish i didn't live on the other side of the planet. I would definitely stay there again. And for a longer period. Many thanks to Star, Hayden and the very sexy Carlos. Exceptional!! do not hesitate to stay here!!

  • Star is kind, welcoming, and helpful as was everyone we encountered at the Oasis.
The daily Chi/Hatha Yoga (within walking distance!) and Captain Gene's Lava Boat Tours were additional incredible blessings that we never would have experienced had we stayed elsewhere.
We loved the big comfy bed and bathtub. The gas stove and sink are installed in the kitchen! Both saved us time and money. We didn't use the main house refrigerator much, preferring instead to keep things closed (and just cool) in the cooler.
There are mosquitos, ants, and loud coquille frogs (it is the rainforest), but as others have said, a little mindfulness goes a long way in mitigating those factors.
Star loaned us clearly printed directions that we used to get to nearby spots everyday. Enjoy the weekly markets! The location between Pahoa and the southeast coast (not far from Volcano National Park and Hilo) was very comfortable for us with a rental car.

  • This space has a fantastically exotic feel to it, and is incredibly private and spacious. There are two separate buildings, the bedroom/kitchen and the bathroom, both of which are private. The lot is within easy walking distance to the main shared lounge and kitchen, but the trees make it feel very secluded. We found the shared kitchen to be a little more useful than the private one, as it is closer to the refrigerator and felt a little more protected from the ants (both areas are screened, but the shared kitchen had a door, while the private kitchen had a screen curtain). The bed was quite large and the mattress was comfortable. We were also pleasantly surprised to find that the bathroom included a bathtub, in addition to the two outdoor shower heads, although we never got around to trying the tub out. Overall, we enjoyed the space and found it to be comfortable and luxurious feeling, with a few rustic touches that kept it exciting and real.

  • A wonderful experience! We really enjoyed our stay at the Coconut Cabin. You fall asleep to the sound of a tropical rainforest. The yoga oasis is a great open building in the jungle as well, hammocks, books, very inspiring. Star was super helpful with all our needs and a really nice host! Thanks for everything!

  • We stayed with Star at the Yoga Oasis and enjoyed our time very much! Be aware that this is a rainforest and the frogs and insects are loud at night... After a while you get used to it and it becomes background noise. The cabin was well furnished and the Indonesian touches throughout were really something! We had a great time and would come again.

Lastly, there are mosquitoes, but if you take precautions and close the doors after you when entering the cabin you shouldn't have any problem with them.
