The cottage is optimal for female professionals, retired people visiting local relatives and small families. We've cleaned out all closets, shelves, etc- so you don't have to feel like you're living in someone else's space. We want you to feel fully at home!! This is a quiet community: Absolutely no smoking, no partying and no drugs. Street parking is available for our guests, however please pay special attention not to block neighboring driveways.
The kitchen area does not have a sink or a stove, however it does have a microwave and coffee maker. We provide a small tub so you don't have to worry about doing dishes. A kitchen sink will be added, but is not complete at this point. A wash and fold laundry facility is conveniently located 1-block away to satisfy your cleaning needs. If you prefer coin operated laundry, there is one less than 1/2 mile away. For longer stays (over 1 month), we can discuss whether you'll need additional kitchen appliances to make your stay even better.
Because the cottage is in the back and is a little tricky to find at night, we ask that our guests arrive by 10pm. We can try to accommodate a later check-in from time to time, but it may incur a late check-in charge of $40 if we need to wake someone up :-/ We don't have a lock-box option on this listing because we want to make sure our guests get in safely, access the cottage through the right door, etc.
The main house is occupied by a nice family, and we manage the house on their behalf. Please enter on the side entrance by the driveway and park on the street. Thanks for understanding or house rules and we look forward to welcoming you.
This convertible couch can turn into a second bed (extra bedding is stored under the cushions).
We had an absolutely wonderful experience! The cottage was clean, bright, and very comfortable, and there were lots of little extras that made us feel very welcome. Amanda was lovely to work with, cheerful and anxious to make us feel welcome. The neighborhood is delightful, with a vibrant area of interesting restaurants and shops. The location is very convenient to downtown and other parts of the city. We definitely plan to stay here again in future visits to San Jose.
Fantastic location, easy access to the highways and surrounding areas, but even better is the 2 minute walk to a myriad of dining and shopping choices in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose.
Location! Private outdoor space for morning coffee, large enough space indoors to make it feel like a little home away from home.
This cottage was fantastic. Everything was as advertised, and we found it to be clean, comfortable, quiet, and exactly what we needed. Check-in was very easy, on time, and our host explained all we needed to know/answered our questions about the area. We were provided with fresh flowers, fruit, some breakfast foods, tea, coffee, sweeteners, etc. The little outdoor garden area was pretty, and it was nice to have a place to sit outside. Parking on the street was never a problem, and at most we ended up only a few houses away. The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows and bedding were very nice. The cottage is very convenient (2-minute walk) to a quaint little bakery/flower shop at the end of the street, and only a 5 or 10-minute walk to a nice little downtown area with shops, restaurants, etc. We loved staying here, and hope to do so again when we're back in San Jose.
This is a perfect little cottage in a fantastic location. Everything was just right! Amanda and Jacqui were great to communicate with - and Jacqui even dropped off some freshly picked strawberries during the week! I liked that the cottage was very quiet, super clean, and had anything I could need. I would stay here over a hotel any time - so much more cozy. It was great!
Amanda was very responsive and the booking/check in procedure went just fine. My flight was late and Jacque waited for me about a 1/2 hr. then showed me the place and wi-fi code (which worked perfectly and easily).
The idea of providing breakfast and/or snacks is nice and appreciated especially your first morning, which I requested items and they were there.
The apt. is located in Willow Glen, a very cute town with great restaurants & boutiques and is also close to downtown/freeways. I always found parking on the street, but you may have to walk a little bit - it's not right out front (but not a prob. at all for me).
The apt. is a converted garage with a small private yard in the back, so if you are looking for deluxe accommodations in a 'house', it may not be suited for you. However, it was perfect for my needs... a private space with a kitchenette, a comfortable bed and strong shower. And, with a kitchen sink they are putting in - it will be even better!!
Amanda made me feel very welcome. The self contained apartment behind the main house is modern, clean private and is located in a very quite part of town. Short walking (Yes you can walk in CA) distantace from shops, restaurants, bars and caffes and only a short drive to reach SJ main town centre.
A must have for a Brit, there is even an Indian restaurant at the top of the road which was quite good!
Next time I stay in the Bay Area I will skip the hotel and book Amanda's place. Great value!

About the Host, Amanda
I work in tech and am fortunate to have lived in Europe, back when mobile technologies were first taking off. I've traveled extensively, and have grown to appreciate a good host! When not at work, I enjoy outdoor adventures, such as skiing and road biking or spending quality time with friends. I'm also investing in a start-up to help provide Airbnb hosts with new tools.
I've been a landlord for 10+ years, and I am regularly hosting out-of-town guests, especially international visitors. I firmly believe that staying in someone's home in a nice neighborhood beats a hotel hands-down ;)
Because I enjoyed the Airbnb experience so much, I've added to my portfolio by working with close friends. We've found that by working together, we can provide the best experience for our guests! Same quality, efficiency, communication process, etc. plus we've already learned all of the tips/conveniences and can apply it to multiple properties.
We look forward to welcoming you! All of our properties are well-located, quiet, charming and family-friendly with awesome hostesses and a personal touch to make your stay a pleasant one!
