On the parkway with quick access to miles of bike trails. We have two bikes for guests to use free of charge. Two miles from an urban oasis of swimming, hiking, trail running, mountain biking, ski trails, golf, frisbee golf, snow tubing, snow boarding, etc at Theo Wirth.
Our home is a Tudor style 1929 home located in a great Minneapolis northwest location, right off Theo Wirth and Victory Parkway with miles of biking trails literally at the front door. You can bike to the Chain of Lakes (Cedar, Lake of the Isles, Calhoun, Harriet), to a Twins game, to the Walker Art Museum and more!
We are also just 2 miles from the Theo Wirth chalet, where there are trails for nordic skiing, snow shoeing, trail running, hiking, golfing, frisbee golf, snow boarding, and tubing. This Chalet also has weddings, so we are a perfect location if you are in town for a wedding event!
Our home has a lot of lounging space; a sun room, breakfast bistro area outside in the non snowy months, living and dining room, back yard and patio with a hammock.
We have a extra bikes for guests to use or a Nice Ride bike station is located within a few blocks from our home. We have snowshoes as well, if you'd like to give that a go at Theo Wirth!
If biking or snow shoeing isn't your thing, all of Minneapolis' great attractions are also easily accessible by car or bus. We live within 2 blocks from bus stops. If you are getting to our place via public transport, from the airport you can take the light rail to the Twins Stadium and you can take a bus or catch a taxi to our place.
We have one guest bedroom located in a private area on the main floor with a queen size bed that can comfortably accomodate two people. Some previous guests left us a single air mattress, so a small child is welcome! We also have a pack and play available.
We do not have central air due to having radiator heating. This area of the house is cooler in the summer. The guest room has a remote control ceiling fan that also keeps it cool. The bedroom also has a TV and alarm clock with ipod dock. For the winter months, we have an electric blanket with separate settings for each side of the bed to keep you toasty warm. We listen to our guests feedback and we bought darker blinds to make the room darker for sleeping in the morning.
The house has one bathroom that we would share and coordinate weekday mornings. The bathroom is convienently located close to the guest bedroom. The bathroom has a stand up shower and seperate tub.
We do not have cable, but have internet, a DVR and Netflix. You are welcome to use our washer and dryer (also outdoor clothes line) free of charge. We have a dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle and French Press to make coffee. We have plenty of street parking available.
We do not include breakfast. Most guests who stay with us prefer to check out some of Minneapolis' great bakeries. You can help yourself to tea and coffee.
You will have access to use the kitchen to prepare meals, store food and snacks, etc. We just ask that you clean up after yourself. You are welcome to use our condiments and spices. In the summer, I have fresh mint, basil, corriander, chives and oregano in the garden. I like to make fresh pesto from the herbs.
We have one daughter born November 2013. We have two dogs. They are both rescue dogs. Rayne is a German Short Hair Pointer, was abandoned in a card board box in the city. Minnie resembles the Men In Black dog, she is a Pug/Boston or a Pug/ Frenchie (we are still figuring this one out). Minnie was a puppy mill rescue from Kentucky. They are young, fun loving dogs! We do our best to not let the dogs invade your space, but they do make their presence in the home known, especially to greet you when you first come home. You will never experience such a warm welcome any where else! The dogs are not loose while we are not home, so you do not have to worry about them if you are home on your own during the day.
We would be happy to hang out and grill with you and talk to you about Minneapolis sights. Brent loves to sample good beers. Shannyn can take you for a run on the parkway or in the trails of Theo Wirth Park.
We have great access to major freeways, 94 E and W, 694 E and W, Hwy 100 N and S. We are minutes from downtown and uptown Minneapolis, and close to the northern and western suburbs of Minneapolis. The airport is about 20 minutes away outside of traffic hours.
We are near a lot of tourist attractions, check out our guidebook map. We have a few tourist books on the area for our guests to use while staying with us.
We look forward to having you as a guest!
Kitchen, washer, dryer, bikes, street parking.
Often, depends on their schedules and ours. We love chatting with our guests and sharing stories.
The parkway! The combination of living in the city close to all the attractions and running/bike trails on our door step. Some great local restaurants too! Such as Victory 44, Travail, Pig Ate My Pizza.
Yes! We live less then one block from North Memorial Hospital, which has several buses that run downtown.
For now we are only taking reservations for Thursday afternoon checkin to Monday morning check out. If you'd like to stay on a different day please send me a message and we will see if it works in our schedule.

Just 48 hours after we left Shannyn's home, we were calling on her again. Due to a very unexpected death in the family, we had to return almost immediately to the Twin Cities. Having respite at Shannyn's made the trip much easier. We had a comfortable bed and a sympathetic friend waiting for us each evening when we returned from a long day of taking of the funeral details. It would be hard to adequately express our gratitude to her for taking us in so suddenly and unexpectedly - her kindness can not be overstated.
We had a wonderful weekend in Minneapolis, and our stay with Shannyn was a big part of it. As we were coming into town, I called to let her know the GPS said we were 30 minutes away. She warned me that traffic was bad, and it might take a little longer. She was right, of course, and I was grateful for the head's up. When we got there, she greeted us and showed us around. The room was beautiful, and the bed was super comfortable. My partner and I both slept soundly all weekend long. The bathroom is conveniently located right next to the guest room, and they're in a part of the house by yourself. It felt very private and secluded. We exchanged stories about our pets, and played with their dogs a little. Overall, I can't think of a single thing that could have gone any better. It was a great place to stay, and we'd love to go back next time we have business in Minneapolis.
Shannyn and Brent were great hosts. My baggage was lost for two days and Shannyn was very helpful which made my arrival less catastrophic. Breakfasts were also amazing, I tried so many different types of bred which I can't find in my country. Their dogs were funny and always happy to see me returning home and willing to play with me. Also, Shannyn encouraged me to take the bicycle and I spent great sunny day riding around the lakes. Their hospitality transformed one usual business trip into wonderful experience.
Nice, charming home in a great neighborhood. Our room was comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. Shannyn had restaurant recommendations and knew a lot about the area. They provided a tasty breakfast that included homemade bread! Loved staying in a home with 2 very nice, playful dogs. They were also very accommodating considering our last minute booking request. First time booking through airbnb and would definitely consider a stay at this listing again.
Shannyn's home is clean and comfortable -- but so much more! The added amenities of a continental breakfast and use of her kayak or bikes with quick access to parks and lakes made our visit VERY special. We biked through the park to Cedar Lake, onto Lake Calhoun and just kept going until we had made to all the lakes. Our one reservation were her pups. My husband is NOT a dog person. We let Shannyn know, and everything went well. Yes, the pups were around, but it all worked out for them and us. The house is set up so that the bedroom and bathroom are private but the bathroom is shared, which was no big deal. It was a great stay. Thanks!!!
Shannyn and Brent are fantastic hosts. They provide breakfast in the mornings and they go above and beyond to give you suggestions of things to do and places to go. They let me borrow one of their bikes to ride down to Lake Calhoun. Their house is right on a beautiful bike trail that leads down to the lakes. It is also convenient driving distance from just about anything I wanted to see/do (sculpture garden, st anthony main, uptown, etc.) Their dogs are friendly and sweet. The bed is super comfortable...made it hard to get up and active every morning but it was great to come back to after a long day. I highly recommend staying with them.
Lovely house, lovely people. Shannyn and Brent are very welcoming. Their house is clean, bright, and comfortable. They lent us their canoe-Brent was kind enough to drop us off and pick us up- and lent us bikes so we were able to really enjoy the outdoor pleasures of the Twin Cities. Really nice, kind, fun people- I'd love to go back!
I just came to Minneapolis and be a student in U of M. I live with shannyn and Brent for nearly one month and after that I moved to campus apartment. They are really nice and welcomed. Cuz this is the first time come to US. So they told me lots of useful (email hidden)d lend me their bike which is really comfortable. I can cook food by myself and they have all the stuff I need.I love the house and two lovely dog. They brought me to the baseball game which is my first time. The reason why I moved to campus is their house is little far from my campus and I don't have car yet.Everything is good best wishes for your baby.
Shannyn and Brent were great hosts, we felt very comfortable with them and they made our first Airbnb experience very easy. They were helpful with recommendations for things to do/see in the city. The room was very comfortable and they even provided some guest reading material about Minneapolis.
The dogs were adorable!
we have been in Shannyn & Brent home for 11 nights in July 2013.
Quiet place, near North Memorial Medical Center and the Parkway United Church of Christ, just less than 5 minutes walk. There are bus stops of route 14 and 32 in front of two places, very easy to go to the Downtown MNPL and St.Paul.
Shannyn & Brent are very nice host, let us use their bikes, kitchen, refrigerator, washmachine, and etc. as we need. They always help us whenever and whatever we request.
Home sweet home in short, we exactly choose to stay with them again if we are back to MNPL.
