Where you’ll be

Coupeville, Washington, United States

Coupeville lies within Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve, which has preserved the mountain, beach and prairie vistas that can be visited and enjoyed by car, bicycle, kayak, or on foot. Because the town rests within the Olympic "Rain Shadow," we experience many more dry and sunny days than most other areas of Puget Sound. The friendly residents of Coupeville host many community events throughout the year, highlighting the town's seafood, art, unique history and culture. Nearby are Fort Casey and Fort Ebey State Parks, the Island County Historical Museum, the Admiralty Lighthouse, Meerkirk Gardens, artist studios, wineries, and miles of hiking and biking trails. If you want a longer side trip, a ferry runs between Coupeville and Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula. Port Townsend also offers an array of shops and restaurants, and additional mountain and Puget Sound vistas. Visit PT on foot, or with your bike or car.

The idea and act of moving to Whidbey Island from the East Coast “happened” to us in the Summer of 2011 when we were B&B guests on this property, then named “Coupe deVilla.” We fell in love with this place while having breakfast on the deck, looking at the gardens, water view, and Mt. Baker vista. Learning on that very first day of our stay that the property would be going on the market, we made the most spontaneous decisions of our lives. Within 24 hours, 1) we notified our employers of our intents to retire (David) and telework (Holly), 2) initiated a contract for purchase, and 3) sorted out financing. We moved in late December that same year and still pinch ourselves daily to make sure that this little piece of heaven is really ours.

After all that spontaneity and a hectic period of relocation activity, we allowed ourselves some time to settle in, and began welcoming guests to the Tremont Suite in early 2014. It has since been our great joy to share the beauty and peace of this Penn Cove spot with journeyers to Whidbey Island.
