About this listing
I've just discovered Airbnb (Sept 2013) and am very happy to become a host.
Happy guests are very important to me. Before making a booking may I request guests to have a read through my description just to make sure that what I am offering matches your needs and requirements.
The apartment is in a brilliant location right in the city centre. It is close to many major tourist destinations, Cardiff Castle, the Millenium Stadium (2 minutes walk), museums, galleries, parks etc. It is also conveniently located near to the business, banking areas as well as being a 10-20 minute walk to Cardiff University.
Despite it's central location the apartment is very quiet inside as it is located at the rear of the building so there is no noise from the bars etc at all. It is on the 3rd floor of the block and there is a lift.
**IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GUESTS WITH VEHICLES**
The apartment is located on a fully pedestrianised street with bollards at both ends which prevents access for vehicles. The nearest paid parking is within 3-5 minutes walk. The nearest free parking is a 10-20 minute walk away.
WHAT I OFFER
You will have exclusive access to the bedroom and the private ensuite bathroom.
The room contains a king size bed, a desk and space in my wardrobe for hanging your clothes.
The room does NOT contain a TV or a fridge.
There is wifi access in the bedroom.
There is NO access to kitchen or living room (the kitchen is located through my bedroom/office area). This is reflected in the price of the room.
There are many cafes and restaurants nearby which cater to all budgets. As Cardiff is a very student city, many places offer student discounts.
In the case of long term bookings we may be able to have an arrangement regarding use of the kitchen but it would be ONLY for evening use and solely at my discretion.
I am happy to do laundry for guests free of charge. If you leave a bag of clothes outside the bedroom door I will happily wash and dry it for you.
Right now I am studying and working full time. This means that I am RARELY at home. I am always available on the Airbnb message thread (preferable) or my mobile if you need anything. I am always happy to advise on places to visit and eat etc and will do my best to help you make the most of your trip. However, if you are using Airbnb for the purpose of having a social experience with a host/getting to know a local person etc, regrettably due to my schedule I may not meet that expectation.
My housekeeper usually meets guests to check in and hand over the key. In some cases I may leave home early morning and arrive back late evening. This means unfortunately I do not always have the opportunity to meet every guest.
The room is available for check-in between 3pm and 9pm only.
I need to know your time of arrival at least 2 days in advance then I can organise my housekeeper to come to the property at that time to let you in.
Check-in before 3pm is not possible even to drop bags as nobody is at the property before then to give you access.
If you need to check-in after 9pm, please contact me BEFORE you make your travel plans as it may NOT always be possible, particularly if I am away.
If due to unforeseen circumstances you arrive after 9pm without prior arrangement, I cannot absolutely guarantee to be able to give you access, particularly if I am away as my housekeeper does not live in the apartment and may not always be around later in the evening to come and let you in.
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU TO SECURE A BOOKING
-A profile photo - head shot is fine
-A mobile number which will work in the UK- an international number is fine
-A brief description of the purpose of your visit and who will be coming
TYPES OF BOOKINGS WHICH I DO NOT WANT:
- Guests who are coming to Cardiff for the sole purpose of a wild night out, plan to get really drunk, unable to control noise levels etc. I only want people in a coherent/reasonable state of mind entering my home.
- Hook-ups. All guests in the booking party must already be known to each other. I do not want guests bringing people they have only just met into my home.
Other Things to Note
Before I can accept a booking from a guest I need to see a profile photo- just a head shot is fine. I also need to have a telephone verification and a number I can telephone guests on should anything arise. It does not matter if it is an international number.
I ask for guests to have a mobile/cell phone with them which works in the UK so as we can contact each other in case of delays or unexpected situations arising.
I rent out 2 bedrooms in my apartment. This means that there will most likely be other guests staying in the apartment at the same time. I have been doing Airbnb for several years now and have never had any security issues. Guests have often met each other and exchanged experiences and recommendations etc.
Be relaxed and have a great trip.
-No loud music or shouting or any behaviour which can be heard outside the apartment or disturb neighbours. **Particularly no slamming doors.**
-It is essential for guests to provide me with an arrival time at least 2 days prior to their arrival.
-Guests will only be given my precise address once we have agreed a specific arrival time.
-Only named guests agreed in the booking can come inside the apartment. All guests in the booking party must already be known to each other.
-Please treat me, my home and belongings with respect.
-If you think something is broken, please tell me about it, do NOT attempt to fix it yourself.
-No smoking inside. There is a covered doorway downstairs where guests may smoke.
-If I feel unsafe or extremely uncomfortable in the presence of a guest, I reserve the right to ask the guest to leave and terminate the booking immediately without incurring any form of penalty.
-All guests must be in a coherent/rational state whilst inside my home
-Do not bring anything illegal into my home
The house is very spacious and located in the city centre. The bed was very clean. The environment is quite quiet and I had a good sleep on that night
The location couldn't have been better and I enjoyed the independence. The room wasn't huge but it was big enough. All in all, the combination of location and price made it a good place to stay. Agatha was also extremely accommodation with regards to arriving and leaving (especially considering I didn't have cell phone reception out of wifi so she had to wait for me at the appointed time!)
Really nice apartment and in the city centre! Bed is amazing! Agatha was really nice and friendly! I got a bit disappointed with the view from our window. Also the first day when I got a shower it was already blocked. And it took me a while to wash out my shampoo and conditioner of my hair because I have really long hair and the shower head water pressure was not to my liking. Also it was really warm when we were visiting and when we opened the window you could hear air vents outside so I struggled to sleep for few days until I got used to the sound. Everything else was good, good value for money.
We had a wonderfull stay at Lavinias lodging in Cardiff. It is very easy to reach, lovely, clean and very cozy!. If we return to Cardiff again, i will defenitly choose Lavinias lodging!
The flat was very central and the location was great. The bedroom was spacious and it was perfect for a one night stay.
