The surrounding neighborhood is rich with a colorful history as well as many local shops and stores, restaurants, theaters, winery's, etc. that we can direct you to once we know what it is that you are looking for. There are wild peacocks and a variety of other wild birds that over the years have found that our property is a "safe haven" to the point that one would think that they are almost domesticated pets. Hummingbirds, Parrots, Snowy egrets, Grey Herron's, Woodpeckers, Bluejays, Crows and Ravens, etc. A large variety of hawks and falcons live and hunt in the area and at night, you may hear the sounds of owl's calling to each other from the treetops.

  • The pictures of this Caboose are beautiful and do a good job describing it... but they don't even come close to the transcendent relaxation of the actual experience. There are few words to describe how elegantly decorated the interior is but the dark, antique tones combined with top of the line furniture that made us feel truly luxurious. The surrounding property has dozens, if not hundreds, of hummingbirds that nest in nearby trees and come to Douglas's many hummingbird feeders, which was a sight I never thought I would experience. Finally, Douglas and Diana were wonderful hosts. Douglas met us at a local landmark and gave us great recommendations on local eating and scenic drives as well as ensuring we were comfortable in the Caboose and even sharing some of his (impressive) artwork with us before politely excusing himself and leaving my wife and I to enjoy our getaway and each other's company before a wonderfully deep sleep. My only complaint is I did not have enough time to spend a second night but luckily that is something that I will easily fix next time!

  • This place is one of the most fascinating place I stayed ! We totally fell in love with the Caboose, the area , the people ....

    1.The Caboose
Great space, fantastic deco I thought I was almost in a version of the " orient express", it has an old movie feel in the deco, it is just fantastic .
Very clean, bed comfy and big, great bathroom. Plenty of privacy.
    Parking just outside the Caboose

    2. The host
Diana and Douglas are fantastic . They provided us with everything we need it to explore the region. Douglas was a fantastic tour guide. He helped us through our journey in California and we discovered so many things because of him.
He booked us dinner in the local restaurant " the old place" and it is just a awesome place for dinner .

    3.location
In the Agoura hills, an hour from LA , 1/2 hour from Malibu beach

    4. Art
Douglas is great artist and you will be able to see his work around the property which fantastic. We didn't have time to check his studio ( which is a shame) so if you have time, please do.

We spend 2 nights there and it wasn't enough, we loved it, we will be back and fell for this beautiful part of California.

Thank you both to share your beautiful place with us.

  • The caboose is everything an Air BnB experience should be! Beautiful scenery, amazing location and very gracious hosts. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get away from the craziness of LA. There's a lot to do around the area so you definitely won't be bored, and the caboose is seriously comfortable - very easy to feel at home there. Don't think, just book it! You won't be disappointed.

  • What an amazing experience!! I was looking for something unique for me and my sweetie while we were road tripping through Southern California. The Caboose was everything I hoped it would be and more. There was cheese and crackers waiting for us to enjoy the sunset. Complimentary dinner reservations made at Old Place which is so charming and delicious! The Cornell Winery has a very friendly knowledgable staff with some great wine! The Caboose was clean, unique and exactly what we were looking for! Doug was an excellent host and made sure we had exact directions and made the most of our time. Very gracious hosts!!

  • Absolutely one-of-a-kind experience. Would enthusiastically recommend to any and everyone. Not only did the caboose provide an amazing stay, with amazing ammenities, resident hummingbirds and serene surroundings, but Diana and Doug were an absolute pleasure and amazing tour/nature guides. Cant wait to go back again soon.

  • My sweetheart whisked me away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a birthday surprise and one night stay in the caboose and let me tell you - it was an experience we will never forget! Doug met up with us and showed us around the place which is decorated with cool paintings and little model choo choo trains. He had a fully stocked fridge and peanuts to give to the wild peacocks! He also showed us a map of all the cool places to check out and was very knowledgable about the local history. For dinner we walked down to the Old Place which was so very charming and fun! After supper, we sat on the caboose porch listening to music and staring up at the gorgeous night sky. We slept like a king and queen in the super comfy king sized bed and in the morning my sweetheart asked me to be his wife on top of the caboose! Doug and Diana were so excited for us and graciously took pics for us to send to our family. It was truly the best introduction to airbnb and the most romantic proposal you could ever ask for! Thank you, Doug & Diana! We give you four thumbs up!

  • Spent 1 night at the Caboose for our anniversary, and it was a great getaway! The place had awesome decor and was really a unique place to stay that was hidden back in the hills. Douglas and Diana were both very helpful and communicative, and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a quiet and peaceful spot. The also helped us out by getting us a reservation at the Old Place which was only a short walk down the road and also a real treat. Absolutely no complaints. A great time!

  • Douglas was an excellent host. He met us down the street when we arrived, gave us a tour of his property, and a history lesson of the area. Once initial contact was made and we had the necessary information to enjoy ourselves we were given plenty of privacy. The caboose is a totally awesome fun space. I would recommend this experience to everyone.

  • Our experience with our hosts Diana and Douglas was great. They were so nice and go out of their way to accommodate you. This was a fabulous find and a great adventure for two forever friends. Would be very romantic if you were with your boyfriend or husband... The caboose is so well done inside and clean we hated to leave it to go exploring the area as it is so comfy. Evenings on the deck under the brilliant sky are so peaceful, especially with a glass of good wine. We would definitely recommend staying here for a very different and rewarding time.
They also make sure they have refreshments and coffee waiting for you when you feel like having some. Do yourself a favor and book a few nights!!!

  • An amazing find! I wanted to take my son on a memorable adventure along CA Hwy 1 in celebration of his college graduation. This was definitely an unforgettable stay. The Caboose is immaculate, cozy, and well appointed. Douglas and Diana have thought of everything for comfort and convenience including snacks and breakfast, all stocked right in the Caboose. We were delighted by lots and lots of hummingbirds at feeders right outside the door. Douglas had several great suggestions for dining and activities in the nearby area which we really appreciated. If you are looking for a unique and relaxing experience...I highly recommend that you choo- choo- choose this Caboose!
